The spiritual realm is odd.
That was my first thought upon threading beyond the entrance; the floor was like a soft carpet, but a sort of impenetrable fog covered it, so I couldn’t see what I was stepping on. I figured that this was what people that had close encounters with death often said that they walked on clouds. On the horizon, everything was blurry. I observed things, yet despite my efforts, clarity remained elusive. Adding to the problem, there was no sign or way for me to determine my progress…unless I looked back, but even then, I couldn't understand what I saw.
Gone were the guardian and Bao Hu, my brother and his servant, and all I could see was the same white fog covering the horizon.
‘We’re close. Keep walking forward.’
Selene was still with me, much to my relief.
‘Is everything in the spiritual realm as odd as this?’
Selene's delay in responding left me uncertain whether it was due to her inability to say something or lack of knowledge.
