A stiff silence engulfs them and Debbie is the first one to break it,

"I want to see her" and she walks into the room and her eyes rest on my body. She walks over to me and starts shaking me violently, "Eris wake up!! Stop messing around!!" She cries loudly,

"Debbie!" Bryan carries her by the midsection away from me,

"Let me go!!" She struggles, "Eris this isn't funny!!! Wake up please!!! No more jokes!" She tries to reach me but she couldn't,

"Kid relax" Aaron tries to calm her down but she's kicking and fighting back. Three men try their hardest to hold her back but it's becoming increasingly difficult as adrenaline pumped into her blood.

I could hear her, "Debbie!!" I pull against the chains and I could feel them loosening a bit, I could feel the freedom.

My left hand begins to move and I lift it slowly. Everyone freezes to register what was happening at that moment, she breaks free and just as she is about to hold my hand more chains wrapped around my wrist and neck choking me once more.

Then my hand slowly begins to drop, she grabs it before it lands back on the bed and she cries profusely,

"Eris please, don't give up on me please!" She cries on my hand wetting it with her tears, I try to move but I can't, I'm too weak. I can't even hold her. No. My hands tighten to a fist and I pull against the chains, I could feel more wrap around me but I don't stop.

My hand moves and she raises her head, my fingers slightly brush against her cheek before I feel a sharp pain on my back. I could feel my blood spill and wet my legs and another set of chains wrap around my neck making it almost impossible for me to breathe,

"Eris" her lips break into a smile until my hand falls back to the bed, "no no no! Please!" She shakes my hand but nothing happens, it just lays in her hand motionless.

She gets up and stares at me, at the crucifix, it was beautiful. She turns to Daylon and sees a similar one hanging on his neck, she smiles a little,

"Eris is going to be okay" she says with faith and teary eyes, "she just needs to rest more" Bryan hugs her tightly,

"I'm sure she's proud of you" he whispers into her ears and she nods fighting the tears back,

"I'm proud of her too. We all are" she adjusts her glasses, "I'm waiting for you Eris" her hope burns brighter,

"I'll go tell the doctor what happened" and with that Aaron dashes out with good news in his mouth, Daylon comes closer to me and his tears drop on my face,

"Eris" he whispers my name as more of his tears stained my cheeks.

I feel water dripping on my body,

"Water??!" I move my head a little and feel the drops on my lips, they were salty and had a certain feeling to them. I open my mouth and let it drip in to cool my burning throat, to quench the painful thirst that punished me.

I could feel a little portion of my strength return to me but where did the water come from? Who owns it? I move my legs weakening the chains and my legs begin to shake a little,

"Eris?!" Daylon calls out with excitement, "you can do it! I believe in you!" He holds my hand tightly, Bryan and Debbie gather around me as my legs shook,

"Eris just a bit more" Bryan hopes my eyes open, "please Eris!"

Aaron comes in with the doctor and they witness my legs moving, the doctor smiles, everyone's happy until I feel a stab in both my legs and I scream in pain. More chains wrap around them up to my thighs and tighten vehemently, I spit out blood and my legs become numb.

Then they stop moving.

Smiles die and the doctor rushes to check me, she heaves a sigh,

"She's trying to wake up, we have a fighter here" she shows her pearls, "we can just hope she wakes up soon" she heaves a sigh of relief and so does everyone.

So I had a chance.

Evening comes and Daylon is sleeping on my arm, Aaron is on his phone and Debbie has her head on her boyfriend's shoulder finding comfort in him.

"Yeah babe?" Aaron excuses himself but his exit wakes Daylon up, he mumbles and rubs his tired eyes, the bags were only getting worse.

"Daylon you need to go home" Bryan advises,

"No I can't, she needs me here" he holds my hand protectively, he didn't want to let go, not when I was getting better.

"She needs you rested and strong. You look like a sick raccoon" Daylon glares at Bryan with angry eyes and he immediately keeps shut, he looks over to me and sees my lips curved in a small smile,

"Hey guys come see something!" He calls and they rush over to me, they see the small smile and they laugh in relief, "she must find your horrible joke funny Bryan" Daylon remarks,

"At least she likes it" he grins at him and Daylon rolls his eyes, "Eris, squint your eyes If you want Daylon to go home and take a shower"

"Bryan you should really—"

My eyes squint and they're all surprised, Bryan and Debbie laugh,

"Do you really want me to go??" He didn't believe it right now,

"Squint your eyes for yes" Debbie smiles leaning over. A few anticipated seconds pass and my eyes squint, she laughs and gives a mocking bow pointing to the door.

Daylon sulks, he didn't want to leave,

"She just wants you to take a shower bro, don't feel bad" Bryan pats his back and my eyes squint once more, "see! She wants you looking fresh and not like a dirty raccoon. We all need rest" Bryan yawns and stretches his hand, "Eris permission for all of us to fall out?"

"We can't leave her all by herself!" Daylon protests, "Eris do you want all of us to leave?" Squint.

"Are you sure?" Squint.

He didn't want that to happen, "but will you be fine by yourself?" Squint.

Bryan had this smirk on, it was golden and Debbie was giggling.

"Is it cool if I come back tomorrow?" Nothing happens and Bryan coos, Daylon glares daggers at him, "what about Monday after school?" He waits for my answer.

Squint.

"Yes!!" He cheers, "after school it is!" He laughs for the first time in a while,

"Would you miss me?" Debbie comes closer to me, squint.

"And me?" Bryan holds my hand, squint.

"What about me Eris, would you miss me?" A blush creeps up his cheeks, nothing happens. Bryan and Debbie burst out laughing as his heart broke to a million pieces, a small smile is evident on my lips, "you hurt me yet again Eris" he sucks it up.

Bryan and Debbie exit the room with their things and just as Daylon was about to leave he sees my eyes squint. He smiles and places a small Peck on my forehead,

"I'm going to miss you too" and he leaves.

My breathing is audible but there is a smile across my lips, I could talk to them somehow. I couldn't get out but the water really helped even though I had no idea where it came from. All I know is that things are going to get better.

Monday comes like a storm and Daylon strides to his locker,

"Morning Daylon!" Lilac greets him with a smile holding on to his free arm,

"Morning Lilac" he brings out some books and his tone is rather low,

"What's wrong with you? You look dull" she pouts,

"It's nothing Lilac" he lies, she shakes her head and turns him to her,

"I know you're sad about what happened on Friday. It's a pity we lost such a girl" she feigns sympathy,

"She's not dead," he says defensively, "she's in a coma" the bell rings, "we need to go" he leads the way and her expression changes to that of annoyance.

Arts class is dull and slow but it finally ends and students leave one by one. Mrs Brown is deep in thought and she signals to Daylon to come over,

"How is she?" Her tone is hushed,

"She'll be fine, I promise" he squeezes her hand and it relieves her, she smiles and he takes his exit. She looks at her necklace and prays for the best.

School is over and Daylon rushes for the hospital, he couldn't wait to see me again, to hold me again. Debbie and Bryan would come later after a meal and a change of clothes but he just couldn't wait for either.

He enters my room and meets my rhythmic breathing, he shuts the door and sits beside my bed and his fingers gently stroke my hair,

"I'm here Eris" he calls out and he notices my breathing pick up a little, "did you miss me while I was gone?" His fingers graze my facial features, my eyes squint and a smile creeps up his face.
