"Well, shit," I said with a sigh as I turned around and found out what was causing the sound. It was an enormous wave of snow cascading down the mountain at an incredible speed, or as I would like to call it, a fucking avalanche.
My eyes twitched as I looked around, finding no other Lapahn other than their downed leader insight. 'That explains where the Lapahn cups went away earlier. They probably went to tell some of their comrades to start the avalanche instead of seeking refuge as I thought.' I stood still, contemplating my options.
'Could this guy already sense I was too strong for them to fight, so he planned to bury himself with me here in the avalanche?' Whatever the case, now was not the time to think about it.
"Alright, you self-sacrificing dick-head," I said with a sigh as I appeared over the body of the collapsed Lapahn leader, noticing he was actually still conscious but barely, as he weakly glared at me.
"Though I have to admit, your plan is pretty smart," I said with a chuckle as I stood in front of him while facing the avalanche. "Too drastic, but still smart," I said with a smile as the avalanche finally reached us, covering my vision on nothing but weight snow.
"Flaming Babylon," I exclaimed as I activated my flame thrower, giving shape to the flames as I manifested them in the form of a tall wall with jagged end, resembling the famous walls of Babylon.
The avalanche impacted the fiery wall and immediately began melting as the rest continued its path along the edges of my wall, creating a wide passage in between.
However, the snow was almost endless as it cascaded down the mountain, and it was slowly but surely the fiery wall. And I was tempted to pick up the Lapahn leader and leave dodge the avalanche, but where is the fun in that?
And I had to think about Kureha and my friends at the foot of the mountain. They would be fine, but why waste a chance to show off in front of my crewmates?
Besides, despite Kureha's bizarre personality, she was still a doctor, and I don't think she would want any of the Lapahns dying, even though she was obscure with her wording, telling me to challenge the Lapahns in a roundabout way.
How many people can confidently say they stopped an avalanche in this world or my old one? Don't answer that because it doesn't even matter since I'll be one such person as soon as I stop this damned thing.
I began increasing the intensity of the flame while channeling my impact fist through my other free hand, releasing shock waves to push away the snow and increase the strength of the fire whenever the snow looked like it was about to overpower it.
"Almost there," I murmured with a smile as I released as much flames as I could from my flame thrower along with a concentrated Omni-Impact, pushing the fires towards the snow as I dissipated the wall, forcing it towards the avalanche as well.
My flames melted all remaining snow with that last push, finally stopping the avalanche and making one of the few humans capable of overcoming natural disasters in this world.
"See you around, snow rabbit," I said as I turned to look at the Lapahn leader, waving my hand as I disappeared from the area with a quick application of Soru step, making my way back to my friends.
...
"That should have been good enough of a proof to how capable I am, no?" I asked with a smile as I appeared out of my Soru step right in front of Kureha.
"Plenty good, but I wouldn't celebrate just yet brat, Ehihihihih," Kureha replied with one of her iconic whicker laughs. "We still haven't talked about my payment after all," she added with a smirk.
"And let me tell you, it'll cost you an arm and a leg, brat," she concluded with her arms crossed in front of her chest.
"Whatever you need, doctor, err, unless you really want an arm or a leg," I said with a nervous chuckle. "I'm already missing one of those, as you can see," I added as I raised my synthetic left hand, showcasing it to her.
"Don't be too dramatic, brat," Kureha said with a roll of her eyes. "I'm just exaggerating, and what I want shouldn't be too hard for you to do," she added with a smirk.
"Depending on how difficult you think, chasing a king out of his castle and giving it to me, that is, Ehihihih," she concluded with another wicked laugh, looking me in the eye.
"Oh, you're talking about Wapol?" I asked, holding back a sigh of relief.
'I would say I was about 70% percent sure she would ask me to get rid of Wapol one way or the other, but anything can happen when you're dealing with a crazy hag like Kureha.'
"I am," Kureha replied with a frown. "But why do I get the feeling you're thinking something rude, brat?" she asked as she gave me a grim look, seemingly gazing deep into my soul.
"It's just your imagination, doctor," I replied with an innocent smile, shrugging my shoulders.
'Women sure are scary, and this old hag is probably one of the scariest women out there.' I thought, but despite how she portrays herself, Kureha is quite the softie.
She doesn't like to show it for some reason, as even when she asked me to get rid of Wapol for the sake of the citizens, she disguised it as a desire to have Wapol's castle for herself.
"You just did it again, didn't you, brat?" Kureha asked with another soul-borrowing glare, making me shake my head with another innocent smile.
"At any rate, will you do it, brat?" she asked after a second of grimly staring into my eyes.
"So, you're asking me to chase a king out of his castle, just to get you to help heal my friend?" I asked in a neutral tone, crossing my hands in front of my chest, earning a nod from the witch doctor.
"Sure, it should be easy enough," I said with a smile, loosening my hands as I shrugged my shoulders in a lazy manner. "Do you want me to do it now?" I asked, still smiling as I pointed towards the central drum rockie.
"You're that confident, eh? Good," Kureha remarked with a grin. "But that brat Wapol can warm the castle for me for a little while longer," she added with an expectant laugh.
"Let's go back and take care of your friend's illness first," she concluded as she turned around and began walking towards her treehouse.
"Are you sure it's a good idea to go against a king affiliated with the world government, captain?" Law asked in a calm tone as we walked behind Kureha.
"In the first place, what kind of doctor asks for such an outrageous price to help someone sick and in need of medical attention?" he added, unmindful of his tone as Kureha turned to look at him, merely chuckling as she ignored his remark.
"It wouldn't make a difference since one of the celestial pigs in Mariejois already has his eyes on us," I replied with a shrug.
"And as for the so-called outrageous payment, Dr. Kureha is asking...," I said with a smile, trailing at the end of my sentence. "Let's just say it will help heal the hearts of the people here..." I concluded, shaking my head as Law sent me a bewildered look while Kureha turned to look at me with a glare.
