I sighed as I hung up the call with Fukurou. To be truthful, I didn't care one bit whether he or Kumadori were found by the world government or not, as cold as that may seem.
Fukurou was a loudmouth, incapable of keeping a secret to save his own life with questionable character and principles. And while Kumador was more reliable and perhaps even somewhat honorable, he wasn't much better in that regard.
I didn't care for them much since my first impression of the duo was them attacking my crewmates, and I didn't spend much time with them after they surrendered, either.
Still, it felt wrong to leave them to their fate like that, especially after they put their faith in me as they did, regardless of the sincerity of said faith.
In any case, there wasn't much I could do to help them, anyway. Fukurou and Kumador would have to rely on themselves to survive for now. As to whether I would help them under better circumstances in the future? I had no idea.
But that was already more consideration than I was willing to put into the two former cipher pole agents' fates for now. I stood up with a shake of my head as I threw my cigarette to the ground, promptly stomping.
"I had an island to explore and a holiday to enjoy for now..."
...
"Do you have any available rooms?" I asked as I lowered my gaze, looking into the eyes of a shifty, short-statured man with small thick lips, wearing a white turban.
"But of course, Mr Johnny," the short man, Spector, the owner of the Tropical Hotel, replied, rubbing his hands together with a slimy grin.
"Your companion, Laffite, has already made arrangements to reserve the hotel for you and your crew," he added while gesturing for me to go inside as he walked in front of me.
"Oh? I take it no one else was staying here before Laffite showed up?" I asked, raising an eyebrow as I took on the sights of the fancy-looking hotel as I walked through its reception area right behind Spector.
"There were several people occupying some of the rooms, of course," Spector said as he stopped and turned to face me. "But they were more than happy to evacuate their rooms once they learned wanted to reserve the hotel..." he added with a fawning expression, constantly rubbing his hands together.
I just stared at the man, feeling exasperated at the exaggerated reputation I seem to have cultivated during my admittedly short career of piracy.
"You know what? I'll take it," I said, too lazy to think about this ridiculous situation, not that I had any right to argue since I did my reputation no favors by terrorizing people in the streets for my personal amusement.
"Excellent. It's our honor to host you here in the Tropical Hotel," Spector said, nodding as he didn't know what else to say, having not understood my meaning.
"Please allow me to show you around before taking you to your room!" Spector said as he turned to walk away, gesturing for me to follow, and I obliged with a careless shrug of my shoulders.
...
"Now that hit's the spot..." I muttered, heaving a deep sigh of relaxation as I lowered my body into the hot spring, leaning my back into its railing while enjoying the pleasant feeling of the hot water.
The hot spring was the last stop of the tour that Spector took me through while showing me around the Tropical Hotel, right before showing me to my room.
I had immediately decided that getting into the hot spring was the first thing on my to-do list as soon as I saw it.
"Now I only need to stop killing people, and getting laid, invent mayonnaise, and I'll be a fucking exemplary Japanese isekai protagonist..."
I muttered under my breath with a chuckle as I took a sip of whisky from my bottle, closing my eyes and leaning into the hot spring in relaxation.
However, my relaxation didn't last long as my ears twitched, picking up multiple hurried footsteps heading my way from inside the hotel.
My eyes narrowed, shifting to the side where I kept the sheathed Triton next to the hot spring along with my revolver as I picked it up and exited the hot spring.
I had always kept my weapons close and ready to be used at a moment's notice at all times since I first set foot in this world. Going on vacation and trying to relax would not change that.
However, much to my shock, the intruders turned out to be three pretty girls, naked as the day as they were, except for the short towels only covering their most critical parts.
The girls came in giggling and laughing with a playful demeanor as soon as they ran inside the hot spring area. However, they were quickly stunned into speechlessness, confused expressions on their faces as they stared at me, fully naked with a gun pointed at them.
"Well, this is awkward," I said with an awkward chuckle as I lowered my gun. "You'' have to excuse my rash behavior. I was told I'm the only guest inside the hotel," I added, quickly getting over my awkwardness as I smirked at the girls, unmindful of my nudity.
"You friend Byron said we'd find you here," one of the girls said with a coy smile, as she was the first to regain her wits. "He told us you were feeling stressed and asked us to help you with that.." she added as she walked towards me and held my arm.
"Well, you're just in time then..." I said with a smirk, my hand moving on pure instinct, undoing the girl's towel and holding her waist as I guided her towards the hot spring.
"You twocome on in too," I remarked as I turned to look at the other two girls as I slumped into the hot spring, guiding the first girl to sit next to me.
"The night is just starting.. but I've got tons of pent up 'stress,' Rehaha," I concluded with a loud laugh, snapping the other two girls from their daze, causing them to drop their towels with laughs of their own as they approached the hot spring.
