The Investigation

Evo's POV

"Hi, guys," said the woman opposite the room door.

Everyone looked at us with a frown—a mix of surprise and shock.

"Five!" Eduard said in shock.

I was surprised to see Bella in that place, wearing the same thing as the woman on the motorcycle. I couldn't believe the girl I had been following was Bella Sebastian.

"Montenegro?" Bella asked. Like me, she was surprised, but only for a moment, because her next move seemed to irritate her.

"Sebastian?" I asked.

"What are you doing here?" asked the police officer, Eduard.

"Oh, I'm just here to watch," said the woman. "And by the way, I'm with someone who could be a detective, like Zero and me. He is good."

"No, he is a civilian."

"I told you he had something," said the girl named Five. I don't know. Perhaps Five is also her alias.

"Don't interfere, okay? I don't need your help right now, Five, so leave and take him with you. I don't care if he has potential."

I frowned when I heard that strange voice. I turned around and started looking for it.

'I carried out my actions discreetly, confident in my ability to avoid detection. I am innocent.'

"What did you see?" a policeman named Eduard asked.

Zero looked at me briefly before returning to her previous activity.

Bella's POV

I walked to the drawer next to the bed. I reached out and ran my finger along the cabinet. The sensation was similar to having electricity go through a finger and into one's brain. I went to the bathroom, and there was blood there, too. I paused in the stall to gaze out the window. I dragged my finger across the restroom.

I left the bathroom and looked under the cabinet. I needed to raise the cabinet's floor. I couldn't reach under it, and I couldn't even peek.

"Do you have to get something there? I'll tell them to move it," Uncle Eduard asked.

"The evidence you need is underneath the cabinet," I told Uncle Edward.

"Oh, I can handle that." Five said.

Later, the cabinet flew into the air. There's no doubt that she can accomplish this, as she has the ability to manipulate objects with her mind. I looked at Montenegro and could see the shock on his face. I frowned at how they met and what Evo was doing there.

While Five was working, I pulled Uncle Eduard closer to the window, where blood was on the floor.

"The person who died had just finished having a bath. She covered herself with a towel when she left the bathroom, and then she saw a man come in through her window," I said.

"From the outside?" Uncle Eduard asked, looking puzzled. "Impossible! How on earth could he get through here? No one could enter this room through the window, even if there were stairs."

The police officers frowned and looked at each other. "There was a forced entry; it's evident that someone kicked open the door."

"I'm going to finish up my investigation," I said. I walked up to a police officer and pulled out a knife. Startled, the police officer attempted to back away but tripped over the foot of the bed and fell to the floor.

"Oh, sh*t!" the police said. "Why do you have a knife on you?"

When the police officer fell, Evo stepped back and turned to face me. "Oh, that hurts," Five said.

"The victim watched the man enter her room through a window. The man tried to get closer, which scared her, so she backed up. However, she tripped on the bed's foot and fell. Her head hit the corner of the bed, so there was blood on it. Her phone fell under the bed, and she had to crawl closer to the drawer. She wants to get something inside."

"We saw pepper spray inside the drawer," the police said.

"But she couldn't get here because the killer had her down and assaulted her," I said. "She fought back, though, and got a punch in the stomach. The woman screamed for help, but the murderer cut her throat out of fear."

The cops exchanged glances. "The killer pulled the blanket around the victim's neck, probably to stop the bleeding. Then he pulled the woman towards the window, only to discover that she had already passed away by the time he arrived. He tampered with the items inside to create the illusion of a murderous robbery.

"Why is there blood in the bathroom?" asked one officer.

"Her killer cleaned up his body. The murderer's fear caused him to stumble several times. The forensics will show that the window and bathroom blood don't match. So did the door. When he cleaned himself, he closed the door and went outside. Then he kicked the door and forced it open to make it look like someone broke in."

"Hey, guys, I can handle this independently. However, why don't you retrieve the items you require from beneath this cabinet?" Five said.

Uncle Eduard turned to Five, shaking his head. "There's a key," Evo said.

"Key?"

A police officer went to the floor and saw a key stuck between it and the wall.

"You can see the victim's fingerprint because she accidentally pulled it off while fighting with the killer." I said, "The woman had a cut in between her fingers, and there's probably blood in the key as well. This indicated that the key had remained in her hand."

"So that's the story," Uncle Eduard said.

"And the culprit..." I said.

"The killer lives up the stairs in the room above this one," Evo said.

Everyone frowned except for Five, who smiled widely at Evo. "Is it—is that true?" Uncle Eduard asked me.

"Y-yeah." I nodded and shot a glance at Evo. "The two rooms have the same windows. You'll notice a mark on the window jamb from the rope the killer used to get down here."

The four police officers looked at each other, then ran out of the room and quickly up the stairs.

Evo's POV

The police officers, Eduard and Bella, stared at me while five others smiled.

"I told you he had something," said Five. "By the way, I'm Kaycee, but my alias is Five."

"Oh, Evo Montenegro," I said.

"I know. No one knows you. You're quite famous," said Five.

"Tell me how you knew where the culprit was," Eduard asked.

"Tell me first what Sebastian has," I asked. "How did she know what happened here?"

Eduard took a deep breath. "You remember what happened at school last time? He solved the case," said Five.

"What? What do you mean?" Eduard asked. "Zero was the one who settled the case. How could he be the..."

"No, the witness spoke voluntarily, and I did nothing but confirm what he said." Zero said.

Eduard looked at me. "So you have something."

"Yeah!" I said.

"I told you." Five said. "Why don't we include him in the group? The more, the merrier."

"No. You know that our country is not open to people like you who assist the authorities in solving the case."

"So, are you illegal?" I asked.

"Shut up!" Edward said. "We're not illegal."

"If not, then there's no problem. I'm willing to help for free."

"No. What we're doing is dangerous." Edward said. "You are not ordinary. I don't want to have a problem with your parents."

"But he's a great help for us, especially with you two," said Five.

"Five..."

"Give him a chance," said Five. "Give him a task, and if he passes, that's a good thing, but if not, I won't bother anymore."

Eduard glanced at Zero. Zero shook his head at him, and Eduard stared at me.

"It's just one time," Edward said. "Weekend. You have a task this weekend."

He turned his back on me and left with the rest of the police, preventing me from answering. Zero looked at me.

"You're the one following me," Zero said.

"Yeah. I didn't know you were the one on that bike." I said.

Zero shook her head and turned away from me. I just watched Zero and Eduard leave. Five approached me.

"See you at school, Evo!" said Five.

"What? Are we the same?"

She suddenly put the lollipops in my mouth. I was even more surprised because I thought it was what he had eaten earlier, but she smiled and raised the lollipop she held.

"Don't worry. It's new." Five winked at me, then approached another motorcycle, almost the same as Zero's, and put on her helmet. I walked and got into my car, then smiled.

'Damn.'
