The Doubt With What She Saw

EVO

"I am sorry, Evo."

I looked over at Bella, sleeping peacefully in the seat beside me. She had a calm look on her face. Kaycee, meanwhile, sat in the back seat, her quiet presence tucked into the space of our car. When I first saw them early in the morning, Bella sat beautifully on the cold, hard floor next to the curvy road leading to their humble home. Her whole body shook uncontrolled, and intense fear and pain filled her. With her voice shaking from fear and doubt, she kept saying that she had seen the evil person who had killed her parents. Without Kaycee's views, we don't know if Bella's behaviors were real or just a mistake.

"It's okay, Kaycee." I momentarily looked up at the road ahead as I said those words. "I'm not in a rush."

"She just started acting like that, so I didn't know what to do, so I put her to sleep to calm her down."

"What happened? Does Sir Eduard know?"

"Yes, I called him. He said he'd go to the hospital because he's in the field now."
