"We loved with a love that was more than love."
- Edgar Allen Poe
Emma was frantic. There wasn't much that she could do; Adam and his partner, Cayenne she was told, who were both working on the had been recently reported missing. In addition to that, she was also becoming a prime suspect for their disappearances. People were thinking that she was in league with the killer, working with the individual or group. Whoever they were.
Although she had been tipped off by Jane originally, now it was increasingly obvious that they were suspecting her of being involved with the killings and the disappearances; what hurt the most was that she was, slowly but surely, becoming more and more isolated. Emma was aware that she was being put under house arrest and would not be allowed to leave her mothers house at certain times of the day unless she had an escort. She was considered a danger to public safety, although she was not sure what he had done. When asked who provided the information, Emma was told that Lord Rowe had supplied them with "evidence" of her mental illness.
Now she was being practically shipped, back to her husband's place. It was the only request that the police had acquiesced to. Emma was reluctant to bother her mother, she didn't want to put too much stress on her in her older years, not here she was. Standing outside of her old home, Megan by her side and an officer on the other, gently prying her suitcase out of Megan's hand; she walked up to the door and before she could even knock, it was ripped open by a dishevelled looking Alexander.
Flinching back, Emma stumbled slightly before she was pushed upright again. Sending a tight smile to Megan before looking back at Alexander.
"I will leave your lady under your care Lord Rowe, if there are any problems or situations you cannot deal with. please do not hesitate to call us."
The officer nodded respectfully at Alexander, bowing slightly at Emma and Megan. The three watched the officer disappear down the street.
An awkward silence fell between the three. Emma and Megan awkwardly stood there and Alexander was still in shock that his wife was finally back.
"May we enter?"
Was the question that shook Alexander out of a stupor, glad that his wife was back, meaning that he was able to have her close and potentially go back to the way they were before, that was why he supplied the fake information to police, forging mental illness papers and it wasn't that hard to prove either. He just said that his wife was always daydreaming and the doctor complied immediately.
Alexander watched as his wife walked through the house, silently looking at everything and taking everything in. The servants were lined up in the hall, they all greeted and welcomed their miss home. Emma didn't give any inclination that she cared for the warm welcome by the servants she once considered close friends.
She bowed her head in response and headed up the stairs to one of the two guest rooms within the home.
"I-Is there anything you want my dear?"
"Some peace."
"O-oh. Yes, right, if there is anything you need-"
"There's nothing. Thank you."
With the cold answer, Alexander felt his heartbreak a little, and held his breath and left Emma standing outside the guest room.
He slinked back to his office, where he sat quietly, contemplating. There wasn't much he could do, feeling helpless Alexander went down to the kitchen where he prepared some tea and moved into the dining room, asking for a maid to call Emma down, so the two could talk. His heart held out hope, eyes brightening when the maid came down, only to sag into his seat and had his tea alone.
Alexander sat there for the next thirty minutes, waiting to see if his love would come down, to see if his love would pity him and drink with him. But that thirty minutes turned into an hour, then another until he finally got up, and just as he got up Emma walked into the dining room.

Adam let out a scream of pain as he felt his hand stomped on. Cayenne whimpered in the corner as he watched his partner getting tortured first in his stead. A thud against the wall as Stanley threw Adam; Cayenne grit his teeth and glared up at his captor.
"You still have the guts to glare at me. Is your partner not beaten up enough by me?"
Cayenne stayed silent and watched the other leave. Furious and worried, Cayenne looked to Adam and shuffled over. Gently nudging the other, trying to get Adam to open his eyes. After a few moments he finally opened his eyes; Cayenne felt helpless, he desperately wanted to help but it only seemed that their captor was only torturing Adam.
"Do you know why he is only torturing you?" Cayenne whispered.
"I know him, he doesn't like that I am close to Emma."
"Lady Row- Zhang?"
Adam closed his eyes and nodded, gritting his teeth and shifting into a slightly more comfortable position.
"Ho-how do we escape?" Cayenne asked himself as he looked around the room, nothing in the room seemed to be usable, the room dimly lit and damp with the distinct metallic smell of blood. Looking down at their ankles, they were chained to the wall with roughly sixty centimetres to move, however, it seemed that the little amount of furniture was littered just barely out of reach, even when Cayenne tried to reach as far as he could when laying down on his front.
Everything did seem quite bleak, but he would make sure the both of them got out of this situation. Alive, or he would be dragging their captor down with them.
Sighing, Adam looked at Cayenne and felt a small smile creep upon his face. He was glad he had such a reliable partner on this case with him, it almost made him forget about his throbbing hand and his bleeding temple.
