She felt frozen; the cold nipped at her skin. Her throat was hoarse and her lips were cracked. 

The air crackled with frost.

She looked up, the shadow of the man she hated stood in front of her. A twisted smile on his face. 

“If I cannot have you, then no one shall,” he whispered. 

She closed her eyes.

Katie had received a letter from Countess Rennert, someone that she had met before she had moved to Byadamar, the country where Katie currently resides in. The two friends had originally met through their parents. Both had studied at an academy that was for the gifted; two wildly different personalities that clicked together perfectly like puzzle pieces. Well, the actual story was more of the two being brought together through a mutual friend before the two only knew of each other's existence but that was it.
