(This chapter is mostly background about the Earth during the last 2000 years, it is not necessary for the story to make sense)
Mark found out some extremely important information when he was reading.
We should start from the beginning. Scientists began to realise that the world was changing during the year 2300, in which there was a surge of natural disasters. Daily news wood reports various islands being wiped out by powerful earthquakes or huge tsunamis.
Families were too scared to leave their houses, every mode of travel was cancelled with entire cities being sanctioned due to natural gas leaks or tornado risks.
However this wasn't the end, in the following hundreds of years the world began to experience a rapid change in climate, huge droughts and fires caused by heat waves directly caused the deaths of millions of people due to starvation.
This remained unchanged until the year 3000 when the portals began to open. It started off small with sightings of strange creatures and occasionally missing people however it quickly escalated during the 3100s as more and more portals appeared.
Slowly the world started to face large swarms of creatures, ranging from tiny mutated ants all the way to mutant behemoths spanning thousands of meters.
The starving and already weak mankind could no longer face the endless swarms of creatures as they slowly retreated, losing city after city, even some small countries were overrun immediately causing the deaths of millions.
This continued for hundreds of years until finally during the year 3400 as humans were defending the last couple of cities around the world, the first human awakened spiritual energy.
However Mark didn't know the name of the first warrior, but he did know one thing. The current district one was controlled by the descendants of that warrior.
But with the awakening of spiritual energy Mankind finally had the chance to fight back. The warriors slowly retook the lost land on the only remaining continent. This is also when they fully realised that the world had formed one huge continent which is now called the Transcendent continent.
The battles caused an even large loss to the world's population as they used the few remaining healthy men as cannon fodder to protect the lives of the rare warriors.
The warriors succeeded in retaking the world through various trials and battles and formed the many districts run by powerful families and organisations.
The wars however led to a rapid decline in the era of technology with the destruction of various scientific institutes. Scraps of technology were barely recovered and sold to powerful families through the scavenging of various thieves and workers trying to survive.
While the technological standards were far higher than during the 21st century they were incredibly low compared to the beginning of the catastrophe.
This was also due to the change in priorities. No one cared about advancing technology, rather they would spend their time cultivating warriors and finding new methods to increase their strength.
Hence leading to the strong eat the weak situation with the world controlled by those powerful warriors. Those powerful warriors controlled entire districts themselves while others split control with other families.
Finally Mark sorted out the knowledge in his head and closed the book.
