Wives' Endeavours II

Would these "spars" become the deciding factor in a change of the wife power rankings?

Well . . . It was time to find out.

With both sides being fully ready, almost as if having discussed it beforehand, the two opponents dashed towards each other in perfect synchronicity.

A clash that shattered the earth and rend the sky was the inevitable result as waves of formed by their combined magical energies ravaged the area around them.

However, a clear advantage was soon determined as Penthesilea used her superior brute force to push back Scathach in an overpowering rush.

The disadvantage she had in raw power however, the Queen of Dun Scaith made up for through her overwhelmingly superior martial skill.

Penthesilea might have been the proud queen of a warrior people that valued martial prowess and the Daughter of the God of War himself but that could to give her the pure martial attainment Scathach had achieved through millennia of ceaseless battle against foes with supposedly greater raw power than herself.

With masterful precision and full of ease, the Queen of Dun Scaith redirected the force of the amazon's charge, a lesser warrior would have stumbled forward at such a sudden change but while inferior to Scathach, a lesser warrior Penthesilea was not.

Sensing the redirection of her momentum, she immediately planted herself on the ground with a powerful firm step, leaving the two warrior queens face to face at point black range as a rapid exchange of countless blows began faster than an eye could blink.

At such a close distance, Scathach's long spear ought to be a disadvantage, specially when compared to Penthesilea's clawed gauntlets that were specifically meant for that very range, clearly, the amazon had though things through with her assault, securing such a favourable position.

Alas, just because it should be as such, it did not meant it was so as Scathach quickly proved that such concepts like dual wielding spears was a poor choice and such long weapons were ill suited for ultra close range melees were restrictions that did not apply to one such as herself whose skill had reached beyond the realm of the gods themselves.

With a calm smile of enjoyment that contrasted her opponent's savagely gritted fanged teeth, Scathach held Penthesilea at bay without issue despite the fact that the amazon had managed to set up a battle situation that utterly favoured her.

The young Goddess of War was beginning to realize where Jun's immense respect for Scathach as his martial teacher came from and why the Queen of Dun Scaith was still the second place in the power rankings and above herself.

It in turn made her wonder briefly at how powerful Morgan had to be to still hold on so firmly to the top spot but such thoughts were ill suited in such a battle so they were quickly discarded as she focused even further.

Even if the chances were slim, Penthesilea still believed victory was achievable and even if it turned out that was not the case, she would make Scathach work as hard for her win as she possibly could.

Still, beating the Queen of Dun Scaith in skill was a fool's errand beyond doubt, as such, Penthesilea needed to overwhelm her opponent by means of superior power, so much so that the difference in skill could be made up for.

So long as she struck with suh violent strength that Scathach could not fully disperse or redirect, even if victory could not be grasped, she would not be defeated.

It was a stamina intensive approach but she was already burning energy faster than Scathach so in for a penny, in for a pound.

In a flash, the amazon back stepped to gather more striking power through a charge, when she saw the casual smile on Scathach's face becoming more predator the moment she did so however, Penthesilea realized her mistake.

"Pierce through! Gae Bolg Alternative!" Scathach called out, activating her cursed red spears anti unit attack.

Twisting at impossible angles, one of Scathach's spears drew a jagged red scar on the air as it snaked past Penthesilea's clawed gauntlets to strike unerringly at her heart.

Intensifying, the magical energy and power of Authority cladding her body and focusing it over her chest however, the amazon managed to stop the attack dead in its tracks with no damage.

Her magical energy reserves however, were depleted five times as much as Scathach's who fired the attack, a most inefficient defense even if successful.

Alas, Penthesilea was not out of the woods yet.

Blocking the spear was all well and good but the clash pushed her into the air and left her hanging there . . . Making the amazon a perfect target for Scathach's second strike.

"Soar! Gae Bolg Alternative!" With another shout, even as her arm was internally torn from the recoil, Scathach fired her red spear's second form, a thrown anti army homing attack, aimed right at the floating Penthesilea.

Realizing she had been royally baited by the queen of Dun Scaith who apparently could read her like an open book, the amazon had no choice other than to be creative in order to protect herself from the killing blow.

In a flash of divine inspiration, literally divine, she grabbed her sash that was wrapped around her waist, Goddess of War, and poured all of her magical energy and Authority into it, making it harden up as it covered her clawed gauntlets which were already crossed in front of her chest to meet the oncoming flying spear.

Scathach's eyebrows raised, being slightly surprised, pleasantly so, by Penthesilea's move, in the many futures she saw with her A ranked Clairvoyance, obtained by means of her skill, Wisdom of Dun Scaith, the ones where the amazon came up with this defence were few.

And as she thought this, the soaring Gae Bolg finally clashed with Penthesilea's Goddess of War enhanced cross guard, producing a thunderous crack as waves of deadly magical energy billowed outwards from the point of contact . . .
