Underworld Negotiations VI

"I need to speak with Sirzechs . . . I have to go Sona-chan."

And with those words, Serafall went to meet her fellow Satan immediately. After all, they were working with a limited timetable so she had to hurry.

With a quick but still caring and doting goodbye, Serafall cut the connection with Sona and immediately called Sirzechs.

As soon as the connection was established, a very simple message was transmitted to the crimson haired Satan.

"Open up the wards for me to teleport in. We must talk."

Hearing this, Sirzechs sighed at how things seemed to be spiralling out of control more and more but when he considered that diplomacy was actually Serafall's specialty, the crimson haired Satan dared to hope she could offer better insight into the matter and perhaps some ideas on how their problems could be solved.

He lifted the anti teleportation wards momentarily as per his peer's request and transmitted the all clear signal, after which Serafall immediately teleported directly into his office.

"Grayfia." She greeted.

"Serafall." Grayfia greeted back with a polite nod, like an equal rather than the usual servant like deference she used when acting as a maid, clearly, there was history between the two.

In fact, Grayfia had challenged Serafall in the past for the Leviathan name but, considering Serafall was the current Leviathan anyway, the result was clear to see, cementing her and Grayfia as the number one and two strongest female devils respectively.

After this polite greeting however, Serafall turned to Sirzechs and without a shred of her usual shining public persona she directly scolded him.

"What in hell's name have you been doing?" Serafall questioned.

"That-" Sirzechs attempted to reply, perhaps to justify the actions he thought Serafall was alluding to but clearly, the full time Satan, part time magical girl was far from done.

"When the brat from the Phenex clan broke the agreement, you should have talked to me first. I'm in charge of Foreign Relations for a reason and considering we have an official treaty with Haikami Jun as a foreign power, the matter should be directed to me either way." Serafall continued.

She then sighed.

"Whatever, this does not matter in the moment. Solving our current predicament comes first." Serafall relented as the problem they were facing needed to be addressed immediately.

Only after taking care of that would there be room to address the underlying issues that led to it in the first place.

"What is your take on the situation?" Sirzechs asked, knowing he had been temporarily spared.

"Well, it seems pretty obvious to me that Jun-kun is aiming to force a justified conflict. In other words, he won't really do anything to outright light the fire but you can count on him to willfully ignore any opportunity for peace." Serafall responded.

"Why do you think so?" Grayfia inquired. To her, it seemed more like he didn't care either way.

"It's simple really. There are targets within our people he wishes to eliminate. Since Cleria-chan is his wife, the Great King Faction are the most likely candidates." Serafall started.

"At first, while he wanted to deal with them, Jun-kun had no wish to start a war with the entire Devil Race. Cleria-chan would not want that and he is not the type to enjoy senseless violence unless it either profits him in some way or he wants to test something out." She continued.

For having barely any contact with Jun, Serafall seemed to be the Devil Faction member whose understanding of Jun was the most detailed and she got all of that from hearing things second handed. She was truly a superb diplomat.

"However, he is petty. Very petty. Sirzechs little attempt at scheming against him can never go unrepaid in his heart. And so, he took an unfortunate incident that derailed his plans and turned it to his advantage since even if it resulted in war, he couldn't care less at the current time." Serafall explained.

"An incident that derailed his plans?" Sirzechs asked.

"The blunder from the Phenex kid obviously." Serafall responded.

"Do you really think it would be that easy to just waltz into the middle of Jun-kun's territory with simple teleportation?" She asked with slight mockery, pointing out something they never even thought about.

"The fools from the Great King Faction were raring to test him and, as soon as a big enough fish bit, it would give Jun-kun all the justification he needed to bring the hammer down on them. Unfortunately, a fool from our side tripped the trap first, making problems for all of us." Serafall broke it down.

"So is it pointless to try to maintain the peace?" Grayfia asked.

"No. He left us a way out, more than one in fact." Serafall denied.

"The way I see it, there are five ways we could go about this. All of them have their pros and cons and none is even close to ideal but . . . At least we're not completely paralyzed and still have some agency left." She added.

"So what are the option you thought of?" Sirzechs asked. He too though of some possible solutions but since Serafall was the expert, listening to her made more sense as she already proved her insight over the entire situation.

"In the end. It all boils down to how far we are willing to go in order to avoid war with Jun-kun. Like I said however, he is petty so any attempt at doing be a bitter pill to swallow if we're going to have any chance of success. I have thought about four different ideas regarding this" Serafall started.

"As for the other option . . . Well, it's war. Though I highly recommend not taking it." She added.

*sigh*

Sirzechs sighed.

"Let's call the others and try to come to a consensus." He decided.
