Purgatory Brothers and Honeymooners

When some mysterious strangers appear in Britannia and Purgatory, the Sins soon find themselves in different parts of the world. Why have these strangers come and what connection do they have to Meliodas, Zeldris, and Merlin's past?

Rated PG-13 Occasionally bad language as fitting to the character saying it, as all the usual stuff with the Seven Deadly Sins Anime and other manga and anime.

NOTE: The timeline in the real world and purgatory have now synchronized, although most of the characters are unaware of this at first. If you haven't seen the later seasons and the sequel movie, Cursed by Light, beware of spoilers.

I'm altering the ending of the Cursed by Light movie. Everything in the movie has taken place. However, Hawk and Wild have "NOT" returned from purgatory yet, and Meliodas and Elizabeth have resumed their honeymoon. Their wedding and coronation haven't taken place yet.

----------------------------------------

It's an ordinary day in purgatory. Wild, the rare warthog-like beast, and his pig-like brother Hawk (whom Wild calls Mild), spend the day hunting for food scraps and drinkable liquid, as well as avoiding purgatory's most extreme storms and hungry creatures. It's been nearly 9 months since Hawk has entered purgatory and reunited with his previously unknown brother. At first, Hawk regretted his decision to come to Purgatory, however, with Wild showing him the ropes, living here as become a lot more bearable. However, Hawk very much prefers living in the real world and terribly misses his friends there. He longs for the day when he, along with Wild, can return to the "land of the living".

Wild especially would love to try the 'scrapes' Hawk often talks about.

Recently, life in purgatory has become ALOT more bearable, thanks to a blessed event. The brothers look into what looks like a cradle made from purgatory rock. The cradle contains what looks like a small but thick amniotic sac.

"Not long now;" says Wild, barely able to hold back his tears of joy; "Just a few more weeks and our new sibling will be born."

"I can't believe I'm going to be a big brother!" exclaims Hawk; "Is this really the same cradle I was born in?"

"Sure is" answers Wild; "As was I."

"So, this is how purgatory creatures are created and born. What should we name her?"

Wild gives his brother a funny look; "What do you mean her? It's a brother, I'm sure of it."

"I just think a sister would be cool;" Hawk has a twinkle in his eye.

"Yea, it would be;" agrees Wild; "But don't get your hopes up Mild, most creatures born in purgatory are male, and all of our cousins that I knew of were males."

"You said we only had two cousins;" responds his brother; "and I've asked you repeatedly to call me Hawk. Mild's fine and all, but I prefer Hawk."

"I understand little brother, but it's really hard to think of you as anything else after 8 million years. I'm sure baby Vild will agree."

"VILD!" exclaims Hawk; "What kind of a name is that? I think we should name her, Sqawk."

"Seriously?" Wild has a look of disapproval in his eyes; "I say Vild or Yild!"

"Sqawk!" The two brothers touch snouts and stare each other with force, when Wild notices a dust storm brewing and says it's time to go home. Their sibling's cradle and sac are strong enough to withstand purgatory's storms.

On the walk home, the brothers continue to argue about names, when Hawk gets an idea. "Hey Wild, how about Melidy?"

"Melidy? How in all of purgatory did you come up with that?"

Hawk has a thoughtful look on his face. "After Meliodas and Elizabeth, or her nickname Ellie, like combining their names or something." Hawk looks down sadly; "I sure do miss them, even though Meliodas always gave me a hard time, he's still my best friend. I wonder if I'll, or we'll, ever see them again."

Hawk suddenly realizes that the dust in the air has become so thick that he can't see and starts shaking; "W..W.. Wild? Brother?! Where are you?"

"Mild! You turned the wrong way. Stay there!"

Hawk stays put, shaking with fear. The storm is getting worse. Some fire rain hits him, causing him to squill in pain. The dust is blowing so hard now that he can no longer hear his brother. Hawk takes a few steps back and bumps into something that moves. He jumps around and sees right in front of him a glow, with what looks like big black eyes and sand-colored clothes blowing in the wind. He goes into defense mode and dares whoever it is to bother him. Suddenly, this glowing creature grabs him and drags him away.

"WILD! BROTHER! HELP!"

Before he knows it, Hawk's been dragged to cover underneath some rocks. While the rocks don't keep out all the dust, it's still protecting him from the worst of the storm. Hawk notices the glow and looks next to him, seeing what appears to be a human-shaped figure dressed in very loose-fitting sand-colored clothing from head to toe. No skin is exposed, even the hands are covered by gloves. The face is completely covered, with giant black glasses, or goggles, over the eyes.

"Who…who are you?" asks Hawk a little frightened. The stranger reaches out to him and starts gently rubbing his head and ears, the way Elizabeth used too.

"Elizabeth, could that be you?" The stranger shakes their head no, then suddenly turns around and crawls out into the storm, which is getting worse by the second.

"HEY! Where are you going?"

A minute later, the visitor returns with Wild. Relieved, the emotional brothers have a tearful reunion, getting their rescuer soaked with their tears.

"Oh sorry;" Wild apologies. "Hey, haven't I seen you before? Yes, your part of that mysterious pair I've seen wondering around here from time to time. It's been over 500,000 years since I last saw you. Where's your partner?"

"Which is like a-year-and-a-half in the real world;" adds Hawk.

The figure actually appears to be shaking their head in response, then actually writes a note in the dirt. The words say, "Time has synchronized." At first the brothers don't get it, nor does the visitor explain. A minute later, however, Hawk thinks he gets it. "Hang on, are you saying that time here in purgatory and the real world are now, the same? As in, one minute here is one minute there, or is it the other way around? I'm confused." The visitor nods, then silently looks towards the opening waiting for the storm to pass.

In the real world, a big explosion occurs in the sky over a large city that's next to a wide river. Headed towards the city are what looks like several meteors on fire, along with a mysterious fire or lava rain. Suddenly, a giant black hole opens up just above the city and consumes most of the rocks, however, a few still hit the city and river below.

Back in purgatory, the storm has passed. The hogs and the stranger leave their shelter when suddenly out of nowhere, the meteors fall out of the sky all around them in several explosions. A bright light shield appears to protect the trio from the impacts. When everything calms down, the three are miraculously unscathed, but the area around them looks a like total disaster area (for purgatory).

"The nursery grounds!" Wild suddenly shouts. He leads the way back towards the cradle. When they arrive, they are horrified to discovery that most of the cradles have been damaged or completely destroyed. The brothers' own cradle is split in two, and the amniotic sac lays on the ground with a large, visible tare. Hawk and Wild start crying as the visitor gently picks up the sac.

(3 weeks later)

In Britannia, Meliodas, the Dragon's sin of Wrath, and Elizabeth Princess of Liones, are laying in a field of spring primroses. These meadows have always been a favorite place of Elizabeth's, with its extra beautiful purple and pink primroses, rare birds and butterflies found only here, and its magical sparkling springs and glowing rocks. Throughout her 107 incarnations, she'd always develop a love for these meadows, never being aware of why unless her memories returned. When they would return, Elizabeth and Meliodas would often venture here before she had to die. Fortunately, after 3,000 years, they no longer have to worry about that.

While watching the pure white clouds and butterflies flying overhead, Elizabeth realizes that she hasn't felt Meliodas's hands on her for a while now. She looks at him and he's fast asleep. She gives him a gentle kiss and he subconsciously grabs her breast. Laughing, she gentling removes his hand and gets up, deciding to get a drink from the spring. She takes off her shoes and sticks her feet into the cool water while the birds sing their beautiful songs. She closes her eyes and walks towards the waterfall, allowing the sweet mist to hit her, enjoying the moment.

After what must have been about half an hour, she feels familiar hands groping her breasts and her ear being licked.

"Caught you off guard, didn't I?" says Meliodas on her back; "What do you mean leaving me there all by my lonesome self?"

Elizabeth laughs. "Oh Meliodas, I didn't want to wake you."

Her lover gives a huge yawn; "Man that was a good nap. Hey Elizabeth, give me some more chocolate chip cookies please."

The princess gives a stunned look; "Meliodas, you were carrying all the cookies."

"Oh yea, I guess I finished them all. Well then, next time you need to bake two batches."

"That was two batches, Meliodas.'"

Meliodas puts his hands behind his head (his causal pose); "Oh, well make three then, four to be on the safe side. Anyway, got any more pork rinds?"

"You finished all those too."

"Ok, what about…?"

"No more custard tarts, candy, cheese, or ale."

Meliodas is a little surprise himself, but to be expected with his much-increased metabolism and appetite since returning to his body from Purgatory and breaking the curses, which had been somewhat suppressed by the curse.

"Man, I guess my snacking is getting a little out of hand, isn't it?" Meliodas smiles; "Merlin did say that my body underwent some changes after being possessed by the Demon King. Not to mention my appetite returning to what it was before the curse."

"Beyond what it was;" Elizabeth reminds him.

Meliodas' stomach growls loudly, causing them both to laugh.

Elizabeth stops laughing, feeling a seriously strong, unfamiliar energy coming their way. "Meliodas, something's coming."

"What's coming?" He then feels it too and they both look up at the sky. Coming towards them is a fireball. It's moving so fast they just barely get a glimpse of it when they hear a huge crash-landing explosion, which shakes the land. The lovers look at each and nod. Elizabeth's goddess wings appear, she picks up Meliodas (who no longer possesses the power to fly in his normal form, like before, not that he's really bothered by it) and they take to the air. Thirty miles from the meadow they find a huge crater. Smoke and fire sparks burn from and around it. Investigating, they're shocked to discover that nothing's in there except ash and small black rocks. They look around but discover nothing that could have made the crater. Meliodas picks up the strange, burning hot, black rocks.

"What kind of rocks are these?" The rock smashes way to easily. "These rocks sure are brittle."

Elizabeth takes a closer look. "Hmm...These look like lava rocks."

"Lava rocks, what are those?"

"I think they come from volcanos;" answers Elizabeth; "I know because we've received lava rocks as a gift from the mainland. But I wonder where it came from. There aren't any volcanos in Britannia."

Meliodas shrugs his shoulders. "While I wouldn't know, I've never seen a volcano. Actually, I don't even know what that is." Meliodas resumes his causal pose; "At least it didn't land near a village and doesn't seem like anybody was around. Anyway, I'm starving. Aren't we nearing the city of Avalon? Let's have dinner there."

"Ok, but not at the place you're thinking about."

"All-man."

As they near Avalon, Meliodas stares at a building blaring with load music. Elizabeth flies right past it.

"Forget it, Meliodas."

"But why not? I thought we were on a journey of memories. You worked there just 60 years ago, remember?"

"I remember you used to rip off the dancers' bikini bottoms and bras and take them home with you;" Elizabeth answers sternly.

"Well, it's not like you girls were going to wear them again anyway."

"I only worked there to feed my family at the time due to lack of any other jobs. I hated it!" Elizabeth sighs; "Anyway, we're almost, Meliodas look!"

There's a fire coming from the town. They land to see a tavern burning up.

"What did this?" Meliodas asks a local.

"A walking fire ball! All we did was offer him a free sample of our latest booze and he went ballistic. He's set all the liquor on fire."

They hear more screams down the road. They find a person dressed in a strange black robe and cloak, with the hood hiding their face, holding a man by the wrist and burning the bottle he has into a small explosion.

"What do you think you're doing?" calls Meliodas. The intruder drops the man and looks at them.

"We're not here to fight. Can we help you?" Elizabeth asks. The intruder sprints at Elizabeth and hits her with a full body attack. She wraps the intruder with her Ark and sends him packing outside of town. There's an explosion, and the intruder jumps into the air, now engulfed in lava flames. Meliodas jumps onto a building and draws his scared treasure Lostvayne. The lava person launches a lava ball at the dragon sin, he uses his main magical technique; "Full Counter." However, instead of reflecting the attack back at the sender as it always does, the lava ball hits his blade, sending a shocked Meliodas flying backwards. Elizabeth manages to catch him, softening his landing as they crash into the ground.

"Meliodas, are you alright?"

The dragon sin rubs his head. "Yea. What happened? I'm sure that was a magical attack."

Another attack comes, they just barely get of the way.

"He's fast;" says Meliodas; "We need to get him away from the town."

They make themselves flying targets, leading the intruder away from the buildings and people. More lava attacks come, and after a couple of misses, knocks the couple clean out of the sky. They recover quickly, Elizabeth again taking to the sky.

"Why are you fighting us? Can we talk about this calmly?"

"NO!" comes a low, angry hiss of a voice, again launching his body towards the goddess. Meliodas jumps in the front of his lover and grabs the hands of the lava person, wrestling him to the ground and throwing him toward a large rocky hill, crashing hard into it. Meliodas lands and is surprised to feel great pain on his hands. He looks and discovers that his hands are badly burnt.

"But how?"

Elizabeth looks at his hands and heals them.

"Thanks babe. Jeez, who or what is that walking fireball?"

Looking in the direction the intruder crashed, and to their amazement, he's once again launching himself towards them.

"Ark Prison." Elizabeth traps the intruder, Meliodas adding a Hellblaze barrier around the ark. Their opponent clearly isn't happy about this and relentlessly bangs against the prison like a manic. Meliodas wipes sweat from his forehead and breathes a sigh of relieve.

"Man, what the hell is he? I can't believe my Full Counter didn't work. I could've sworn there was a magic in that attack. And his fire actually hurt me."

Elizabeth also wipes sweat from her forehead; "I don't know, but I'm sure he was that fireball that crashed. Anyway, we need to decide what we're going to do with him."

GROWL! Meliodas grabs his stomach and rubs it; "Let's get this over with. I'm wasting away here."

They approach the prison; the intruder hasn't stopped for a breath yet. "Hey, you;" Meliodas crosses his arms; "Who are you and where did you come from? Why did you attack those townsfolk? What's your deal?" The intruder only growls at him and attempts to blow-up the prison, only knocking himself out in the process. "Oh, alrighty then." Meliodas shrugs his shoulders; "Let's decide what to do with him after we eat."

"Meliodas, he's not unconscious." The intruder gets up and makes a second attempt. He completely engulfs himself in a hardened lava crest, then it spreads out and pushes the barriers of the prison. Both lovers can sense the dangerous amount of power coming from him and know that he's about to explode.

"We need to protect the town!" Meliodas runs several yards and takes his position, Elizabeth hovers above him. The prison shatters and erupts like a volcano.

Meliodas unleashes his demon power; "Trillion Darts."

Above him, Elizabeth unleashes her goddess power; "Goddess Shield."

They secede in blocking the explosion, saving the town of Avalon. When it's over, they both collapse. The intruder gasps for breath but recovers enough to walk towards an unconscious Meliodas. He starts to attack when a green barrier appears seemly out of nowhere around his target, blocking the attack. Another barrier appears around Elizabeth. Looking up, the intruder sees Harlequin the Fairy King, the Grizzly's Sin of Sloth, hovering above.

"Get away from them!" Ban, the Fox's Sin of Greed, appears and attacks with his Scared Treasure Courechouse, managing to slice through the attacks and physically harm the intruder. Then a giant hammer crushes the earth next to him, courtesy of Diane, the Serpent's Sin of Envy and her Scared Treasure Gideon, sending the intruder high into the air. "Miracle Wind". Elaine, fairy warrior and Ban's lover, catches and encloses the intruder with her wind. Then all four attack and despite a valent effort, the intruder is over-whelmed and finally defeated, quickly taking his leave.

It's been 3 weeks since the big meteor shower hit the city next to the large river. Two short guys, one with hawk-like wings on his back, both dressed in the same black robes as the intruder in Britannia, clean up some rubble still left on the streets. They are both coughing heavily between the ash and meteor dust.

"I can't take this anymore of this;" says Hawkwings; "I need a break and some fresh air."

"Shut up!" says Wingless; "If it wasn't for your little spar that almost got us all killed, we'd have already completed the mission by now. I don't even know how you got those restraints off in the first place."

"Oh, easy." Hawkwings takes out a tool and easily removes the restraint anklets, shocking Wingless. "Nothing a little black-market tool can't fix. And besides, she started it. So, we got a little too far up into the atmosphere and attracted a shooting star. Bishop took care of it."

"Not all of it you dummy! The city's still a mess, and besides, you provoked her. You know better than to go messing with her like that."

Hawkwings rolls his eyes. "Do we have to go into that again? All I did was give her a friendly pat. Why did she go ahead of us anyway? It's not like she'll find it any faster on her own. And do you think she'll even hand the relic over to the bishop? I don't trust her."

"Well, she doesn't trust anybody, so there. And you call slapping her behind a friendly pat?!

22222222222222222222222222

Merlin, the Boar's Sin of Gluttony, looks in the mirror and touches the burn scares around her mouth, remembering the Lion's Sin of Pride, Escanor. Merlin isn't a person of regret, so she tells herself. Still, if only Escanor had been born at the right time, such as 3,000 years ago, or if only she could've extended his short life beyond the few short decades of a human, which she tried to do during the early days of the Seven Deadly Sins. Maybe then he could've filled the void in Merlin's broken heart, maybe. Still, though, she couldn't just abandon her mission, not when she's come so far. At least Escanor died happy, and it seems that his soul has moved beyond the in-between City of the Dead and into the eternal light of heaven. Merlin has to be happy for Escanor and move on.

Merlin then looks at a photograph, the only thing she was able to salvage of her home Belialuin when the Demon King and Supreme Deity completely wiped it off of the map 3,000 years ago. At the time, she never considered there might be consequences when she manipulated both gods into blessing her, and she never intended for her home or people to be the cost. She has spent many years collecting the lost souls of her people who couldn't or wouldn't move on into the eternal afterlife. Now, she's finally released the power of chaos, residing in the body of young King Arthur of Camelot. Hopefully through Arthur she can finally one day resurrect these lost souls and make the future Camelot their new home.

Nobody, not even Arthur nor the Sins, know that this has been her true intention all along.

There's one soul in particular that Merlin's been unable to find. Merlin's always sensed that this soul hasn't moved on. It's not in the city of the Dead, not in Purgatory, hopefully not in hell. Merlin has non the less been unable to locate it. Lost souls leaving the boarders of their homelands is unheard of. Still, Merlin can't help but wonder if that maybe the reason she's failed to locate this soul as of yet.

"Where are you?" Merlin stares at the picture, renewing her promise to that person, when there's a knock on her door.

"Come in Arthur."

King Arthur enters the room; "Are you alright Lady Merlin? I thought you'd be leaving already."

"I am. I just needed a moment." The picture disappears into Merlin's magical pocket dimension.

"Are you sure I can't go with you? It'll be lonesome here without you. And I'm still a little insecure about everything."

Merlin gives a little smile and hugs Arthur; "You've got this Arthur. This a journey I must do alone, but you've got that magic orb to keep in touch with me. I'll be back in a few days."

Arthur nods. "You know, you should take this time to visit Sir Meliodas and the others. They're your family after all."

Merlin pretends to brush it off; "They need space Arthur. I've interfered with their lives long enough."
