MY CANDY CRUSH

Racheal woke up shivering and with a throbbing headache Everytime she moved her head, the pain got worst so she lay still waiting for the day to break. Time didn't seem to be passing by so she managed to sit up on her bed, her room was beautiful. A little sanctuary. Fresh pink and white sheets on the bed and framed photograph are on the table. Everything was always spick and span with the smell of air freshener. She was writing in her diary.

Dear diary,

******

Everybody was talking about Racheal Williams, the new girl. She was certainly a chick in the boy's eyes, and she was surprisingly bright, doing well in class tests. She hardly ever spoke to anyone and she walked up and down with her nose in the air and a sour expression on her face.

'She thinks she's better than everybody else,' students whispered. 'There's nothing special about her, though.'

Paul always found himself glancing at her in class. She was gorgeous! If only she'd pay him some attention.

Still, he was determined to be friendly.

Biggie was a big boy, an art student. He liked wearing chains on his trousers and trainers instead of sandals- when he was sure he wouldn't get caught.

Racheal was standing outside the classroom when biggie strolled by. He stooped and whistled.

'Hi,' he said and grinned, showing all his teeth.

She stared and mumbled something indifferently.

'Yeah, I'm biggie, funny name isn't it? " You look beautiful, Could we be friends?'

She said nothing, hoping he would just go away. He felt a little silly the way she kept staring at him.

'You look like someone I met during the holidays.'

'Sorry to hear that. Please excuse me.' she said. Obviously she remembered him as one of the boys who came to her house with Paul.

'where are you going?'

'To the library' She immediately wished she hadn't said it'.

'I' II walk you.'

'It's not necessary.'

'You need guidance, I'II guide you,' he said and he laughed, showing all his teeth again. He kept chattering as they walked.

Racheal had finally had enough. 'Excuse me, I'd rather walk alone,'

'Hey,' he called out grabbed her hand.

She whipped it away. 'LET GO! You fat pig" she shouted.

'Excuse me?'

'You heard me.?

They stared at each other. She was breathing hard and had a harsh expression on her face as she glared at him. Biggie turned away, feeling foolish.

'I'II make sure I deal with you,' he snarled as he walked off.

Gladys joined Racheal after school.

'What did he want?' she asked after hearing what transpired between Racheal and biggie.

'You know, what they all want.'

'Oh' dear. Racheal, you should be careful of boys like biggie, they can be dangerous.

they moved on, sighting Paul from a distance, Gladys said "Paul also said you wouldn't respond to him when he speaks to you"

'I wish everybody would just leave me alone!' Racheal cut her off, frustrated. 'I'm here to mind my own business and read my books,'

Sandra patted her friend's braids sympathetically. Perhaps she decided, this wasn't the best time to talk about paul to her.

Racheal dropped by later that evening while Sandra was in the kitchen helping her mum. Later that night, Sandra tried to lure Racheal's attention to Paul but however, regretted she attempted so. In-as-much-as she wants Racheal to be friends with Paul, she still liked Paul but now tried to put away such disturbing thought.

The next day at school, the class had to gather in the assembly hall for a discussion about the inter-house sports which they all agreed would comprise of only indoor games. They were aware that anything too serious would not be welcomed by principal Cecilia. All she cared about at this point was for them to study and have good grades in their final exams, in order to uphold the integrity of the school.

As students trooped out, someone bumped into Racheal, spilling the opened bottle of water she was holding all over her dress. It was biggie.

'Oh excuse me', said Racheal.

" Maybe you bitch ought to look where your going."

" Maybe you idiot need to learn some manners." Paul came interrupting, let looked so annoyed.

"It's fine" Racheal insisted, quietly brushing off the water from her dress.

"Here, let me get you another one" Paul said.

"No thank you" she looked nervously as everyone had began staring at her.

'bigie walked off with a group of boys, who giggled as they went.

'Don't mind him,' sandra who was now standing besides Racheal said, handing her a towel. She dried her self up. Realising then that her dress stuck to tight to her body hence people could see through her dress. Ofcourse this was the reason the guys kept looking at her even after biggie left.

the most dreadful boy in the school dislike her because she wouldn't pay him any attention.

They went to the hall together. It was well decorated in preparation for the inter house sports.

with banners hanging on the walls and a glass chandelier suspended from the ceiling. Frank did most of the decorations. . They were rehearsing.

Paul seemed to be everywhere. It suddenly made Racheal wish she were doing something as well .

That Friday was the inter-house sports, which the students always looked forward to. Racheal hadn't wanted to come at all, but her aunt wouldn't hear of her staying home.

Paul caught sight of Racheal when they came in. Her beauty was beyond imagination. So he thought.

The school had four houses. Red, blue, yellow and green. Each student upon admission into the school will be rendomly selected into any house and will be given a sport wear which is of same colour as the house. Racheal however came into the school at her final year. Few months before the final exams hence principal Cecilia probably saw if unnecessary to engage her in that.

She sat at the middle row of the pew where she had reserved a seat for Gladys but later gave it out to frank. She was a little uncomfortable sitting with him. Racheal hasn't made any freind accept Gladys ofcourse who was now more like a sister. Sandra was standing in the basketball court with a group of girls, all dressed in white armless jersey, and a tiny flayed skirt. She was one of the cheerleaders who would be dancing during the basketball match.

"So where did you learn to design"

Frank was puzzled hearing her speak to him for the first time.

" I practice a lot and also from the internet" he said

" That's cool" she said.
