Time to run!!!

I was literally changing into a cat! My body started to shrink, a tail sprouted from my posterior, my ears shifted into points at the top of my head. My clothes and bag started to disappear within my midnight black coat, which glistened in the moonlight. I watched as my pupils morphed from their brown circles into yellow slits.

Screaming, I looked at my hands that were now paws. Standing on my hind legs, I started to slap my self-trying to wake up from this nightmare. Voices started to chatter all around me. That's when the townspeople left their homes and started to encircle around them. I could hear from the murmurs people saying things like, how did he do that? Is he a witch? What if he's dangerous?

Suddenly the murmurs from the crowd stopped, and they started to part, making way for an older man. I could hear the people call him the village elder.

When he was finally standing in front of me, the crowd grew quiet, "It looks like the town's longest mystery has finally been answered. For centuries, my parents and their parents questioned the curse of the well, and now we know it changes the drinker into a cat. This man must be a sinner without a shadow of a doubt. In fact, all cats are sinners that have drank from this well and should be driven into extinction!"

Wow, I won't lie; he definitely had me in the first part. But the leap of logic from this old man was so extreme that no one would ever believe him. I looked around a saw that majority of the people were shaking their heads in agreement.

Suddenly the earth began to shake and rumble. The ground started to crack near the well, and it collapsed in on itself. When everything settled, the only thing left was a dark and shadowy pit. I walked over to it, peering down to see a bottomless pit. When I looked around, I noticed that all the townspeople around me were glaring at me, murderous intent lingered through the air.

"That well was integral to our village! Without it, our property values will surely plummet! Kill that bastard!" a man in the crowd shouted, and without delay, the crowd began to close in on me. Luckily, I was a cat now, so I could dodge all their swipes and grabs as I ran in between their legs.

As I made my way to the entrance, but then they unleashed the dogs. I could hear the barking of over a dozen of dogs slowly getting closer. Thinking fast, I jumped on some barrels to start climbing a building.

I took a second to breathe on the roof, but I was far from safe as people were starting to come onto the roof. I began hopping from building to building with no other choice until eventually, I jumped into a tree, moving from branch to branch with the shouts and barks slowly fading in the distance.

Finally, I lost the townsfolk, and I made my way down the tree until I was on the ground again. Still breathing heavily, I felt myself changing back. Within seconds I was human again.

I doubt they would easily give up with the dogs having my scent, so I kept moving. Man, I thought finding my purpose was hard enough. Now I have to do it while also being a cat.
