Chapter 2: Goodnight

Suzu and I have been together since the age of 4 until now that we are ten. In those 6 years, we've gotten close to each other, to the point we were inseparable.

Suzu and I, After the bath, go to my room and she saw the thick book above my desk.

"Woah!! So thick"

She exclaimed. She opens the book and when she read the contents she frowns because she was unable to read it. It was ancient after all.

"K? What's this? Can you even read this?!"

She said while frowning

"Hmm, yea"

"Hmmm, your such a bookworm K,"

"Whatever"

I reply and I sit down in my bed. When I sat down. I ask her the question I was curious about.

"Suzu? You said you will attend the Sword and Magic Academy but you don't even practice Magic or Swordsmanship while I was taught by father Swordsmanship. Well, you still have 5 years to get better though"

"Hmm, well about that K"

Suzu started, she seemed nervous.

"When I ask father that I would like to attend the Academy and learn magic. He said that he will get me the best instructor he knew. And he did but It's far away from here. It's in a Capital of Humbert Kingdom, Blaine, and he wants me to go study there from instructor Stefan Bellerose if I wanted to attend the Academy"

I don't know what to say. I don't want to be separated from her. I don't want her to go but I know for sure that I want to support her even if that means being separated from her in  5 yrs.

"W-When are you going?"

I ask her trying to remain my composure but my voice came out shaky.

"The day after tomorrow. I am also finished packing my things"

I remain silent and noticing that I will unlikely utter a single word again. Suzu gathers all her courage then says.

"K! I want to go and learn magic so I can go with you to the Academy! I know that 5 years is long but in that 5 years, I will train hard so that I can protect your back in the future. Even I don't want to be separated from you"

She explained to me why she wanted to go.

"Why are you asking my permission? Well, if you're asking my permission then you have my approval"

I said those words trying to hide the fact that I will greatly miss her. But I am unaware of the fact that those words came out of my mouth formally and coldly.

She looks up at me and I give her a small smile then said:

"Let's go sleep for now"

"K..."

She mutters my name with concern but nonetheless complies

We are now in my bed. Silence is uncomfortable. No conversation. I am not mad, I just need time to process the information. I am also facing the other side of the wall. Minutes later I feel Suzu was hugging me from behind then mutter in a low voice.

"K? Are already asleep?"

She mutters almost a whisper.

"I'm still awake"

"You mad?"

She asks in a lower voice than before but still audible.

"I'm not"

"Really?"

"Yeah"

When I said that I turn to face her and realize that there are tears in a corner of her eyes. I panic.

"Suzu!? What's wrong? Are you hurt?"

I panic when I saw tears forming in the corner of her eyes.

"B-b-because I don't want K to hate me," she said stammering, tears now streaming in her face

(AN: they were just ten years old so let them be childish hehe )

"No, No, No. I don't hate you. I was just— just surprised at your sudden declaration. "

I pause for a moment then added—

"So, Don't cry, Suzu,"

I say those words gently while patting her head. Suzu stops her sobbing and looks at me with teary eyes.

"Yeah"

She smiles with a close eye and answers me, cheerfully.

I smiled that she recovered her usual self.

"BUT!! Tomorrow, you have to spend the whole day with me. That's all I ask"

I look at Suzu intently, staring directly into her deep-blue eyes. Suzu broke into a smile and reply.

"Sure, I'll give you all my time and attention K"

I smiled at her response then kiss her on the forehead like I usually do when she came over and hug her tight.

"Goodnight, Suzu"

"Yeah, Goodnight K"

Suzu accepted my embrace and warmth then hug me back. The two girls fall into a sweet dream that night.
