That day

Jem pushed the door into her bedroom and shut it closed behind her. She dragged her tired feet across the room and went straight to the bathroom.

As tempting as it was to lie down for a minute she was scared if she decides to rest she might not be able to get back up and take a bath cause she needed one.

Arie made her go out to have some fun with himself and Darien. Daisy left early to bring Zack home for his bedtime.

But the three of them went to toby's to drink some more and dance their heart away. It's been such a long time since Jem did something like this.

If she had been out drowning herself in alcohol she would be highly intoxicated considering how much she drunk. But she spent most of her night dancing and drinking mostly soft drinks.

Her body was soaring from dancing all night long.

She leaned over in the sink and spat out the toothpaste foam in her mouth. She lifted her head and continued brushing her teeth her eyes facing the mirror.

Then someone appeared behind her, she doesn't know if he was there or if it was her imagination playing tricks on her.

She quickly turned her head with a gasp but saw no one was there. It was all in her head

She quickly rinsed her toothbrush staring at her reflection in the mirror. She could no longer see him but it felt like he was standing right there looking at her.

She rinsed her face wanting to wash the thought of him away. She can't tell if it is an obsession but whatever he is doing to her it's becoming unhealthy.

And it's because he refused to talk to her. She went back to her room to get her phone.

She needed to hear from him before she loses her mind completely.

She sat on her bed and held out her phone. His number was on the screen but she couldn't call him.

She just gazed at her phone not sure why her heart was beating so fast.

She took the phone to the bathroom. Placed it on the edge of the bathtub near the faucets. Then got her water ready for a nice relaxing bath.

There was that feeling again, a feeling that someone was watching her. His presence enveloped her bathroom. She felt so hot yet so cold, it was like he was standing behind her.

She turned her head in the direction where his presence was strongest but no one was there.

"I'm going crazy." She muttered to herself.

"I need serious help."

She said for a while trying to shake the feeling that eyes were on her.

Her effort was in vain so she just undressed. But she felt timid, it was like he was watching her strip naked in front of him.

She started imagining what that will look like. His eyes staring at her bare body, staring at her with clothes on was scary enough.

She shook her head to shove the thought of him. But it didn't work so she decided to ignore it, no matter how impossible it was, it was the only option she has in mind.

One foot after the other she stepped into the water. Slowly she sat in the water still fighting the feeling that his eyes were watching her.

She reached for her phone and then dropped it back. It's past 11:00 pm, he might be sleeping. What would be her excuse for waking a busy man up at this hour? It would be stupid if it was only to talk about her feelings. He might start to think she's a little desperate.

She lay gently in the tub and gradually buried herself under the water.

Her head was underwater but she felt fine and comfortable. She was not trying to gasp for air or anything. She just laid flat, her eyes shut and without a care in the world.

**

That day, two weeks after Keith dumped her. She almost ran into his car earlier before. Those eyes stare at her from his wheel screen, glittering. It was like seeing little stars on a person's face.

She couldn't stay to play a staring contest for much longer. She has pastries to deliver and since she's doing it on foot she needs to hurry.

She stood at one of her favorite spots gazing at the sunset. It's the only thing that keeps her spirit alive since her ex decided his best friend was better for him.

It's been two weeks but it felt like it was happening right now. She's watching her ex cheating on her over and over again with his childhood friend and her telling him that she is carrying his child.

It was breaking her more and more but she couldn't stop watching.

"It's a great view." She suddenly heard a deep male voice beside her. It was an unusual accent but pleasing to the ears.

The seductive smell of his cologne made her feel waves of emotions. She turned to look at the owner of the beautiful husky voice she just heard and the cologne that set a person's inside on fire in a matter of seconds.

He stood beside gazing into her cloudy eyes, his hands tucked in his coat pocket. She has never seen such beautiful eyes on a man before. It is the guy that almost hit her earlier with his car.

It was not just his eyes everything about him was so beautiful, she felt intimidated by his mere presence.

"You should use this." He brought out a clean handkerchief from his pocket and handed it to her.

She gazed at him then his handkerchief. She doesn't know why a good-looking man like himself would pay any attention to her. He even wants to give her his handkerchief.

"I'm fine." Her voice came out dry and broken, which was completely embarrassing.

"No, you're not." He said stoically.

She touched her face and felt how wet it was. She was indeed crying so much that a stranger saw her and decided to help.

"Why do you care, you don't even know me."

"I don't care. It's just hard to watch the sunset with a sobbing girl beside me."

She chuckled with her face flushed. "I'm sorry I didn't realize."

"Now you do." He stretched the handkerchief toward her again. This time she took it wearing a smile.

"Thank you." She started wiping her face, then she blew her nose.

"You come here to cry often." He smirked.

"Yeah," She laughed.

"I mean I don't come here to cry just to watch the sunset." She was blushing so hard that her face began to burn. She knows she looks stupid right now that's why he is staring at her like that.

"Really?"

"Yeah, it's the best place to enjoy the view of the sunset. I'm just going through a hard time right now."

He nodded. He does not talk to strangers but here he is interacting with a random girl. Now she is talking about her feelings, why is she talking about her feelings?

He just needed a place to cool his head for a bit, he didn't come here to talk about a random girl's feelings.

"... It's been really hard for me, coming here helps me let go of some problems. I feel so stupid right now talking like that to someone I just met. Enough about me, tell me do come here often." She stuttered trying not to make eye contact with him.

"It's my first time coming here."

"So you're new in town."

"Not really."

He thought they would have stopped talking by now. But here he was replying to her even though he found their conversation to be absurd.

"You like cake, cookies..." Her smile faded when her eyes flicked to his. Her voice suddenly froze staring at the face of the most beautiful man her eyes had ever seen.

"What?"

A moment ago she was talking about her sad life experience now she's talking about cake and cookies.

She gasped for air and flickered her eyes away from his.

"Umm, You should try passing by Aubrey's bakery sometime."

"Why would I want to do that," He cocked his brow.

"Uhh, I don't know. It's a great place to get bread, cake, cupcake, sponge cake, or any cake."

"So you work there."

"Yeah." She touched the small apron she tied around her waist. His eyes followed her action subconsciously.

"And you advertise your business to everyone you meet."

"No." She chuckled. "I guess, sometimes."

"There's nothing wrong with that. It's just I'm not a cake-and-cookie kind of guy."

"I would believe you if you try Aubrey's baking and still feel the same way."

"I'll keep that in mind."

His eyes fixed on hers spread heat over her body. He thought she looked adorable with her large eyes and red face. He found himself smiling subconsciously, maybe it was because she had a ridiculous smile on.

"Thanks for the handkerchief,"

"You can keep it to remember me by."

She hasn't smiled like this in a while. She nodded feeling so relieved of her heavy heart.

"I have to go now."

"Didn't you come to watch the sunset? It only just started." He turned to stare at the atmosphere change. Her eyes followed his. The beautiful view brightened the smile on her face.

The blue sky is almost completely removed, leaving a longer wavelength of orange hues.

He turned to look at her skin tone under the lighting of the sunset.

She looked precious wearing a smile like that. He doesn't know what she has been through but he was glad their weird conversation brought such a beautiful smile to her lips.

What made him smile was her vermilion cheeks. He could watch her blush all night long without getting bored.

Her body could no longer take the heat he was giving her. She felt his eyes on her but could turn her head to stare back. She might choke on her saliva if she looks into his tempting eyes.

As intense as it was to be near him, she felt safe. Happy. She was not trying so hard to be happy she just felt the joy within her.

"Umm... Thanks for making my day." She let out a sigh of relief that didn't relieve the tension at all.

Matt isn't sure what he did to help but he nodded. She finally looked at him hoping he would say something. He didn't. He kept staring at her wearing a soft smile.
