She belongs to me

Her dad always told her she was meant for great things. But she always had a hard time believing him.

Good things they say always happen to great people but the reverse is her case. It's one tragedy after the next.

For the first time, she thought something good, or rather someone good had finally happened to her, until it happened again, her bad luck taking a toll on her.

Matteo and she were just getting good but as per usual her bad luck struck again.

Two million is a lot of money, but she is not sure it's enough reason for Matt to hate her.

Maybe he sensed her misfortune and decided to keep his distance.

He is either distant or indifferent which is sickening. They can't even have a normal conversation anymore. It often ends with him being extremely mad at her.

She walked into a bar to get a bottle of beer to help her clear her head. It's the only idea she could come up with to make her stop thinking so much.

She needs a break from worrying so much about what's going to happen after she marries the city's most notorious bachelor.

In the end, turns out one bottle of beer isn't going to make her stop thinking about Matt.

She ordered her next bottle of beer still giving the bartender the innocent mesmerizing smile she came in wearing.

One that the bartender won't stop admiring. He handed her another bottle of beer.

"You good?"

She nodded and then started gulping down the beer.

Her whole body was on fire now, but she was still shivering.

She looked at the other drinking customers, they all look normal and calm. Some were even laughing like they didn't have a single care in the world.

Unlike her, the drink is clearly not working.

Drinking is supposed to help her feel a lot calmer but after two bottles of beer, she still feels the same.

She stood up from the stool she was sitting on and went over to stand right in front of the bartender.

"Hi, Dainty," He winked at her.

"That's not my name."

"You didn't tell me your name." He placed a tall glass of beer on the counter in front of her. He fixed his eyes on hers as he slid the beer to the side.

She thought for a while he was throwing it away. The way he slid it with a sneaky smile on. But to her surprise a man sitting at the edge of the counter caught it.

The man nodded at the smiling bartender.

"Cool trick, Gabe"

She tucked her loose strand of hair behind her ear while clicking her tongue.

His eyes widened, how did she figure his name out? It took him a while to recall he wore a name tag.

"What do want Dainty?"

"Something strong." she sat on the stool that was closest to her.

Gabe smiled before he gave his reply.

"Can you handle strong after..."

"If I'm paying I don't think it's your job to tell me what to order."

"I see two guys who'd love to tell you what to drink."

She scoffs clicking her tongue. "I'm going through a crisis, the only thing I need right now is your strongest mix. Please." she rubs her palms together.

Those doe eyes of hers are irresistible. The guy had to pinch himself to be able to stop staring at her.

"Fine," He whispered then bent down. She stretched her neck wondering what he was doing under the counter.

After nearly one minute of hiding under the table, he rose to his feet hugging several bottles of drink.

Jem was startled to see him pop up like that, it made her smile as she watched him do his thing.

He did several tricks to impress her, the way she smile he taught she was slowly falling for his awesomeness. Until she told him she used to be a bartender.

He handed her two shots of his mix. "You never cease to amaze me, Dainty."

She giggled. She had to stare at the shots for a while a bit scared to be getting intoxicated, all for Matt.

Right now she wishes they never met in the first place. She figured her life would be a lot better if he wasn't in it.

But he is in it and some things are just meant to be. She knows that and it hurts her more.

"Fate sucks, if this is fate then it sucks." She didn't realize her thoughts were heard by the bartender who sense the sadness in her insensitive voice.

"Sometimes fate is a beautiful thing. You may need just enough patience to appreciate it."

She shook her head as she drank the two shots as quickly as possible.

Immediately her face became red, hot, and bloated. She had to wrinkle her face with her eyes tightly shot.

"Good heavens that was..." she opened her still looking flushed.

"Great?"

"Yeah." she chuckled. "Keep 'em coming yo" She started laughing.

Gabe saw what the drink was doing to her, and giving her more is homicide.

He hesitated.

"Look I can handle anything. I need at least four more of those. You hear me."

He poured her two more but she kept on demanding that he completes her order. She almost started yelling at him.

Gabe had no choice but to give her what she wanted.

She took the four shots at once. She held her ears cause it felt like her brain might escape through there.

Everything became so quiet including her thoughts. She was staring at a busy room filled with noisy people and loud music but she couldn't hear a single thing.

It felt good. She felt so good, calm, and chill. It's like a superpower that help her control what she hears and feels.

"I'm gonna need more of that amazing..."

"No no I can't allow you harm yourself like that, you've had enough."

"I told you I'm fine just give me one more, please."

Not even his intense mix could rid her beautiful eyes of their innocence. He thought if she still looks this good after drinking so much maybe she is okay.

He poured her another shot. "That's the last one, Dainty."

She raised the drink to his face. "Cheers to Matt, for making my life a living hell."

"Who's Matt?"

She didn't hear what he said. Her brain was in a lot of pain after she took that last shot.

"Is there anyone I can call to come to pick you up?"

She heard things way louder now but her brain couldn't put the words together. All she heard was gibberish and loud annoying music.

Her body became numb. So numb she could not feel anything but the pain torturing her brain.

The bartender looked at her praying in his heart that she doesn't faint here. Some guys present would love to take advantage of that and take her home. Because he can't just leave his shift, that might cost him his job.

He was so distracted staring at her he didn't notice when a man suddenly appeared behind her.

His beautiful bright eyes were what caught his attention. He looks too fancy to be patronizing a place like this.

He opened his mouth but before words came out the new comer had his hands already wrapped around Jem's fragile-looking body.

His hands were so strong looking that he feared he might hurt her by just holding her alone.

"I'm sorry, do you know her?"

His eyes which were focused on Jem turned to look at the nosy bartender.

"She belongs to me."
