She was more angry than glad to see him. He can't just show up acting like he did nothing wrong. Who disappears after asking someone to marry him without a reason.
She struggled continuously to be able to escape his grip.
She kept hitting his chest until he had no choice but to let her go before she hurts herself even more.
Her legs gave up at the moment they touched the ground.
Matt caught her mid-air before her knees could hit the ground.
"Let me go," She slurred still trying to pull away. "Why are you here, I thought you didn't want to see me, why did you have to come, you think I can't take care of myself."
To him she was garbling. Most of what she said was unclear but he knew what she was talking about.
He had to loosen his grip but he didn't let her go knowing she won't be able to stand on her own.
"Jemima" His voice came a bit harsh, it even stunned her out of her drunken state for a moment.
"I don't have time to listen to your complains, I came to bring you home."
Her eyes and lips were wide open as she stared at his eyes glitter. She felt so lost looking up at the man she'd love most in the world but has no clue why he wouldn't want to love her back.
"Why? How did you know I was here."
The calmness in her voice as she asked this made him bite his lips.
He click his tongue and then replied, "It doesn't matter."
"Call Arie, I want him to come to pick me up."
"Let me get you home first, then we can call your friend to come to look after you."
"I'm fine, I'll wait for him here, I don't want you to give me a ride home, please. Call Arie."
Matt nodded. He hates persisting too much if she doesn't want him to give her a ride, they would both have to wait for Arie's arrival.
Jem seemed to be acting a lot more normal now, though her face was still awfully flushed. It looks like she was going to explode.
"You can call him on my phone." She started searching her purse for her phone. Matt cautiously watched her every single movement like a hawk.
He was more focused on her flushed face. He just noticed she might look okay but her eyes say otherwise.
Her search was in vain, she couldn't find her phone in her purse, but Matt could see it from where he was standing.
"Jemima you're not okay."
"I'm..." she paused staring at his face as if she just remembered something.
"Matt I don't feel so good," She said calmly staring up at his face.
Before he could open his mouth to say something to her. She leaned forward and burped, throwing up all over his shoes.
He looked at the vomit on his shoes then at her, he wanted to scold her despite seeing she was already scared and remorseful about what she did but had to hold back. He knew at that moment she was going to pass out.
Jem felt a lot of toxins leave her body but it all ended up on Matt's shoes. Even though she knows he deserves it she still felt bad to mess up his clothes like that.
She wanted to apologize but everything was spinning. It's like she was seeing two maybe three of him.
The next thing she saw when she blinked was absolute darkness, added to the voice in her head calling out her name.
"Jemima, Jemima..."
Matt was able to successfully catch her before she landed on the ground making her faint in his arms. For a moment his brain went blank about what to do next until she heaved a long sigh.
Then moaned, "Call an Uber, ple..." Her moaning became frail as she mouthed the word 'please'
His heart skipped a bit watching her look so weak, vulnerable, so fragile yet so beautiful. The softness of her voice always makes his heart jump.
He pressed her small body close to his hard chest as he carried her to his car. He didn't care anymore about his ruined shoes.
He just stared down at her as she slept calmly in his arms. He was afraid of taking his eyes off her for one second.
"I'm your Uber driver for tonight Jemima." He was not sure she could hear him at all but he felt the need to answer her.
He placed her gently in the back seat, so she can lie down properly. He took his place in the driver's seat and then set the rearview mirror so that he can watch her sleep while driving.
He drove slowly because he didn't want her to stumble off, and so that he can have enough time to scrutinize her.
She looked so cute cuddled up in the backseat like a little girl.
He was so lost in her world that he didn't realize he was smiling despite being mad at her for being so drunk.
It was a long ride into the night and Matt didn't stop the car for a second or tried speeding up a little bit.
He is here now, he isn't going to let anything bad happen to her while he still has the chance.
She is his responsibility, not even his evil brother or the council is going to change that. It's one thing to be suspended from the company with no adequate reason but controlling his relationship with his little girl is another.
The council will have to do their worst if they please. He just can't keep his distance from her.
