The Stepping Stones

Back when I had joined the Astralis sect, it was supposed to be a decision made in the spur of the moment. I had no expectations regarding my future, nor any attachment or a sense of belonging. 


I have always been like this, numb and uninterested in everything. 


As it turned out, I had an above-average talent for cultivation, I had earth-grade spirit roots, which were below heaven-grade spirit roots, yet above countless others. 


I knew it was my blessing, but I didn't know how to utilize this. After the selection process was done, I was given an entire courtyard for my cultivation, not too lavish but still much better than anything the other outer sect disciples were assigned. 


I was also assigned a servant, around 10 years old at that time, a beggar that the sect picked up from the streets, 6 years younger than me.
