"Some Cupids kill with arrows, and some with traps." — Much Ado about Nothing (Act III, Scene I)
The words on the sheet of paper churned in Jase's head. Why would someone want to say that Xavier was innocent? And if they did, then who was it? That was it, he was driving to Xavier's penthouse to talk to him, alone. He got dressed in a casual outfit, a blue denim shirt and black jeans. He picked up a spare pistol from the cupboard, and tucked it away in the hem of his jeans. That would be for safety.
He got into his SUV, the car he used when he was off duty, and after fifteen minutes or so, he was there in front of Winter's penthouse. God knows that this would be a very fool hardy move, because the man inside is highly deranged and manipulative; but he had to do this.
Slamming the door of the car after him, he walked to Xavier's doorstep. His fingers clicker the doorbell, as he stood on the porch, tapping his foot, waiting. After only a couple of minutes, the door swung open to reveal a shirtless Winter, with a glass of whiskey in his hand.
Klein was almost driven in a frenzy. This was the first time he got to see what perfect a body lay beneath Winter's suit. He was wearing a very low rise ripped jeans that loosely hung around the bottom part of his waist. He worked out really well, or so it seemed. His abs were taut and defined. Every inch of his marble like fair and smooth skin, reflected perfection.
"Now, if you're done ogling, why are you here at 11 at night?" His mouth stretched to a devious grin, as he leant against the doorway, the half filled whiskey cup in his hand. Klein closed his eyes for a second, and opened them again, trying to gain the strength to make his point.
"I need to ask you a few questions." Jase's tone was a nervous stutter, because of the presence of an attractive dominating man in front of him. Xavier gestured for him to enter, as Klein stepped in the house.
The ground floor had the kitchen, and Winters asked if Klein wanted a drink, which he hesitatingly accepted. What if there was some sort of poison in it? Xavier handed him a glass of scotch, and his eyes quietly followed Klein. His fumbling fingers held the glass, not really wanting to drink it.
The amused CEO took the drink from the cop's hand, and took a sip. His intense blue eyes watched the cop slump his shoulders in relief, as he took the drink back from the CEO, making himself comfortable in one of the barstools.
"Why did you kill your wife?" Was the first thing that came out of Klein's mouth, and he wasn't exactly asking.
"I did not kill my wife." He replied in his smooth tone, giving Klein a seductive smirk against the whiskey glass.
"Why were you expelled from medical school?" Klein tapped his glass against the kitchen island, looking at Xavier for an answer. He knew that he won't answer it.
"If you did that much research to find out that I was expelled, Mr. Cop, take some more pains to find out why I was expelled." He replied, being his normal composed self, pressing his bare body against the kitchen island.
However hard Klein tried, he couldn't avert his eyes from Xavier's naked front. The fact that he was attracted to this man, pissed him off to the ends of the earth. He was a killer for fuck's sake, is what Klein tried screaming to himself, but no avail.
"Tell me Jase, when you picture me fucking you, what exactly do you imagine? Do you imagine me going slow or fast and rough?" His seductive voice tore the silence in the room, as he placed both his hands on the kitchen island, stretching his muscular arms, leaning in to get his face nearer to Klein's. His blue eyes turned a shade darker — a deadly combination of want, desire and lust. Jase let out a shaky breath, caught off guard.
God, this guy had a nerve — Klein thought, but couldn't quite meet Xavier's eye. A blush crept in Jase's cheeks, and suddenly he felt like the room was on fire. His hazel eyes guided themselves to the half naked man in front of him, who was devouring him with his bare eyes. How could he make him so hot and sweaty just by a few indecent words? That's when his phone rang, and he received the call.
"Officer Klein, there is a case of homicide in the Lori's Bar. Please, come quick."
