1.2 Decay

A duo ran down the streets. The first was a large man whose body was made of Obsidian. The curves on him are smooth and reflective and his head featureless as he grips the back of the other super. Both his hands were on her back and holding him off the ground. Despite the sheer weight of the pitch-black man, the pair were a blur through the streets.

The other whose body vibrated had her face spray-painted black and blue. Her public identity is very well known as she keeps her power focused on herself and Obsidian. It allowed her to move at extreme speeds and empower herself and through training and life had figured out how to wrap this field around others she was touching, "Any word on Decay? Videos are flooding in but the Feds haven't begun filtering through them yet. The creature should be on Hiltmen road. We've got teams on evacuation."

She would remain silent. She had known the man for years and it was unlike him to go silent. Her body seems to even phase through smaller bits of matter preventing bugs or insects from dying on her.

Her power allowed her to make impossibly sharp turns with no issue. She turned the corner and went utterly still at the sight before her. Her control over Obsidian vanishes in a second causing the man to scream out as he's flung forward. He slams into the ground with a grunt tearing up the street. He grunts glaring at Breakneck who seems to stand there.

Breakneck shivers in fear her hands twitching as she stares at the broken street before her. Not a single window remained untouched amongst the countless bloodstains that covered the walls and floors. Down the street, the sight made her stomach churn as she fell onto her ass in horror. She had not seen the creature's head further away because of how it was hunched over sticking its strange boney head into a broken open building.

She feels bile rise to the back of her throat as the creature pulls its head back. A body danging from its jaw as it brings a strange finger up to its mouth shoving the creature in fully. Blood drips all across its maw and its fingers had both old and dried blood upon them. Breakneck feels her fingers dig into the concrete as Obsidian screams, "C'mon! Get up! We need to delay it while Fire-Power gets the teams rallied."

She can't take her gaze away from the creature as it lowers its head. Its mouth opens up wide before a wall of pressure erupts from its mouth. In mere moments it's upon her causing her ears to ring as Obsidian seems to raise his arms blocking his head from most of the pressure as he's forced backward. Breakneck can't hear the creature as it begins to scream causing Obsidian to shiver as she sat there in shock, her breath short as blood began to drip down her ear. Her head was pounding in pain as the creature approached.

She clearly recognized that power. She sat there processing for a few seconds as Obsidian's hands grew larger. The creature darts forward horrid screeching of buildings being ripped open as the creature charges Obsidian. The dark smoke follows as the creature gets within a few feet of Obsidian before his hands change again.

Spikes form all along with his palms as the creature tries to stop itself. It fails as its skull slams into the black stone. Obsidian hisses in pain as cracks form along with his hands and arms. They begin shaking as the creature chooses to keep pushing forward despite the stone breaking across its skull and the spikes cutting into the black flesh.

Ichor drops down, coating the stone and hissing. Melting and weakening the stone as Obsidian holds his grown. His body remains unmoving as below him an anchor of stone digs into the ground rooting himself to the street. At that moment, from the pitch-black eyes, Obsidian finally gains a glimpse of something as the creature shaking slowly moves its head upwards.

Its pitch-black eyes meet with his. He can feel it judging him as it stares at him waiting patiently despite the damage he had caused it. He pauses wincing in pain as some of its black blood begins to drip down his arms further weakening it. The creature hisses as it pushes forward some more as black smoke begins to surround Obsidian. He hisses in pain as it burns at his hard flesh.

Finally, he cries out in pain as it cracks and the creature finally begins pushing past him. His arms come off with a harsh snap as the creature moves its body further till its head was right above the crystal man. It opens its mouth and a scream begins ringing down from point-blank causing Obsidian to scream as he takes the blast. White light begins to build at the back of the creature's throat as its head hovers over the stunned form of Obsidian.

Obsidian tries to recover but the pain is just too much. He stands there trying to regrow his arms quick enough to shield himself. . .Only for the shadow over him to vanish as the earth shook. In the mind of Break-Neck panic and fear had finally changed into rage and loss. Sorrow over the friend she had known for years taking over and sheer rage at the sight of what this thing had done to the citizens of her city.

Her body moved starting to disregard many laws of reality as she lunges off the ground zooming forward akin to a bullet. Her head slammed into the skull of the creature causing it to go flying. Its claws trying to find purchase in the buildings around it as it's launched backwards. Breck-neck lands hissing, shaking off the daze in her head. The blood still drips from her ears as she picks up one of the broken shards of Obsidian's hands.

She grips it tightly as she would crouch down and force her power out once more. She feels the laws of reality loosen around her. She feels something slam into her body. She hisses in pain looking up as the monster stands down the street, its mouth stretched open white light glowing form it. White balls shoot forward impacting Break-Neck before she focuses her power allowing her to dodge to the side.

She narrowly dodges the next strikes that hit the streets exploding upon contact. She winces, almost blinded from the flash. The paint on her face burnt off from one of the blasts reveals tanned flesh beneath it as she keeps moving closer and closer to the creature. Her body harshly turned to avoid the blasts.

She makes it within a few feet of the creature before a harsh wall of sound explodes forward. She screams in pain unable to hear herself as she's stopped in place from the sheer force of this creature's voice. Her body shaking as walls battered and abused collapsed on both sides of the streets.

Her power sparks and flares around her as she tries to use her strength to keep herself rooted. She felt more and more blood pouring down her ears. Soon, blood begins flowing down from her nose and eyes as she stands there shaking rage burning harshly in her chest. The creature begins to move forward finally content with what would come next.

Obsidian finally rises up and regrows his arms. He begins running forward slowed by the massive burst of sound that turned any remaining body on the street into simply piles of mush. The cone slowly grew thinner and thinner until the concentrated sound was focused upon Break-Necks face.

The sound slams against her face, tearing off the first layer of flesh causing her to scream in pain. Some of her bone is showing amidst the muscle as one of her eyes are fully destroyed. Yet, she simply keeps holding onto her power feeling pain flare in her head as she keeps her stance.

The creature keeps walking forward step by step the smoke lazily crawling forward closer and closer until it finally stops. It stops as its face is engulfed in a massive explosion slamming it to the side. The sonic attack finally stops leaving Breakneck numb with pain as begins looking around. She spots Obsidian running her way before spotting a heavily armored and familiar sight.

The heavy jets and anti-gravity systems of a heavily armored suit keeps it suspended in mid air. Upon both of its shoulders large rocket tubes sat. Attached to the armor through a single bolt the armored super reaches up pulling the bolt out and letting both tubes fall to the ground. Reaching behind her she begins pulling out a new and fully loaded tube loading it onto her shoulder and snapping it into place. As she works on fully securing the two new missiles Breakneck turns behind her with her good eye as Obsidian keeps running towards her.

She could no longer hear Obsidian's screams but she was a long-time friend and worker with him. They had not been in such a situation with one another before and it showed as he paused reaching out waiting for her. She stumbles staring at him trying to understand before it clicks. She reaches down grabbing his arm as he begins creating thicker and angular plates all across his backs and arms.

Extending her field out to cover his body. She feels his body lighten as he curls up in on himself as she rears her arm back and tosses him her body numb and weak. Yet, it was still enough to send Obsidian. The creature finally recovers rising from the rubble only to receive the hardened stone to the face,

Yet it does not scream in pain nor move as the attack hits it. Even as a faint crack appears across its skull it simply turns to Break-Neck silent and judging. It opens its mouth this time and a horrid retching sound fills the air. Breakneck remains ignorant of it as she takes the shard of rock in hand and tosses it as hard as she could. It digs into the creature's flesh as it makes purchase yet it is ignored as black sludge drips down the monster's teeth. Black sludge which swirls and shifts without rhyme or reason as it hits the ground slowly takes form.

The black goo hisses as it lays there on the ground before something else finally comes up. The creature looks up with a single eye sitting in the back of its throat now. Large and cat-like it stares down Breck-Neck before turning towards the armored lady floating. The creature's jaws snap close and it swallows before it stands up to its full height.

Around its legs, the fog can no longer conceal it as it stands to its full height. Its bones begin further pressing against its flesh as the armored woman screams in a voice that sounds heavily Russian, "Get to cover! I can't get any good reads on it- I think it's preparing for a ranged attack!"

Obsidian lands with a grunt hearing pieces of Iron Blasts' words. He dives to cover yet Break-Neck pauses an idea coming to mind. She begins darting forward as fast as she can even as the creature's skin bulges mass moving across its body down to its tail. The strange thing shifting and changing into something far thicker with a rounded tip instead of a spiked one.

The creature looks back down, raising its tail and shooting forth massive bones which travel far faster than the attacks before. A gentle glow covering the strange projectiles as they leave the tail which quickly dies out as it digs through plenty of earth. One of these projectiles clip the side of Break-Neck cutting open her side yet she brushes through it only stumbling for a second before finally getting within the creature's smoke.

She gets into the burning acidic smoke which makes her eyes water and her open flesh wound burn with agony as she stops at one of the creature's legs. She can feel the creature preparing to dart and end her life as she takes her energy and aims it at itself. Then, she felt nothing but pain.
