The Suffering Didn't End (2)

Arriving at the hospital holding each other's hands, Fyre and Tian Zi were forced to separate, seeing a massive ruckus in front of what they believed was Elder Sullen's room. Everyone was outside and they could both understand what was happening just seeing the situation that they quickly approached and worriedly further assessed the situation.

"This was all your fault! Father is like that right now because of what you've done!" Gared Sullen yelled while he was being held by Joaquinn and Ashton because if they didn't, it looked like he wouldn't think twice about beating the poor Omega again.

"Dad, stop it! This is not the time for this. Grandpa wouldn't want this to happen to us right now!" Joaquinn yelled in frustration, holding his father back. He was already so worried about Maverick who had been crying for days now and now this! He had already been through a lot. If he knew this was going to happen, he would not have let Gared Sullen know about the Elder's condition. He should have known better than anyone what his father's reaction would be. He should not have hoped that he would act like a decent human being.

"Uncle, please stop! This was nobody's fault!" Daniel conveyed desperately and anxiously, not being able to hold back while holding Maverick who couldn't utter a single word against his father. Daniel knew full well that the older Omega had been blaming himself all this time and hearing someone—his father—say it to him straight in his face must have hurt so much. Daniel knew this feeling well and it breaks his heart to know that his cousin was feeling this way as well. Their grandfather was lying in a coma. This was nobody's fault and if there was someone to blame, then it wouldn't be Maverick. Maverick had suffered enough, shouldn't his uncle shoulder a little bit of responsibility, and or if he couldn't, he shouldn't have caused so much commotion. Long ago Daniel thought that his uncle was better than his biological father, George, but now he's taking back those words. At least, his father learned how to accept and ask for forgiveness.

"Shut up! I'm not talking to you!" Gared yelled furiously, his eyes were almost bloodshot, glaring at Daniel immediately, making everyone believe that this had been enough. They respected Gared's rights because he was also Elder Sullen's son but his conduct was unbecoming. He did not just inconsiderately barge inside the hospital room like a tidal wave, grabbed Maverick's arm out of nowhere—almost slapping him again!—before throwing him on the floor, but he also began yelling, blaming the poor Omega for all of this. Gared Sullen had always been the calm and mature type of person, he didn't talk much and one would believe that he was the kind that would ever throw his hands at someone but seeing him now—and to his son at that—it was obvious that they had judged him wrong.

"No! You shut up!" Daniel quickly countered, glaring back at Gared. His eyes were teary but he held on, trying to keep his anger and sadness. He would no longer stand still being yelled at because he knew he wasn't wrong. He used to respect his uncle because he was one of those people who even though didn't show any affection towards him when he was young, he at least tried to act as if he was family but in this instance, all that respect had disappeared.

"T-This happened because grandfather couldn't accept that he raised someone like you! This wasn't Mav's fault! This was all on you, Uncle. At times like this, why can't you just find it in your heart to accept your mistakes? Grandfather is fighting for his life right now and all you could think about was yourself! And blame everything on others. What kind of son are you!?" Daniel yelled back, his delicate fingers formed into a fist. It has been a while since he had gotten this angry and he didn't like it because it felt like his chest was going to burst and it was painful. If he didn't let it out, the pain would become more and more unbearable. Just imagining that the man in front of him—the same blood running in their veins—made him feel disgusted for allowing his own son to do such an awful thing.

"Who are you to speak that to me! You don't know anything in this family, you didn't become part of the family within those 3 years you lived with us. I refuse to accept someone who just came out of nowhere and believes he knows everything!" Gared said angrily, and this time Laotian and George Sullen finally stepped in.

"That's enough!" Laotian voiced out, his dominant tone reverberated like thunder after the lightning before he menacingly glared at Gared. He didn't care if the man was older than him, he did not like the fact that the man spoke ill of his wife. George as well, he had enough. He had always been afraid of Gared since he was young and he tried and tried to prove to himself that what his older brother had said was wrong but in the end, he gave up knowing that he could never erase the hatred that had uprooted deep inside his heart. Since then, George had been happy and his life had been more fulfilling than ever. He decided to ignore Gared as if nothing happened and never to speak to him or even spare a single glance but now, he can't let him speak like that to Daniel and Maverick.

"That's enough, Brother! All of us made a mistake, including you! You cannot blame this on someone alone," George said which only made Gared even more furious.

"So the murderer finally has the gut to talk back to me now? Did your little hiding make you a little braver?" Gared mockingly said with a smirk, throwing Joaquinn and Ashton's hands away from him.

"You're becoming insane, brother. I did not murder anyone and you know that! Whatever hatred you had with me, your sons and Daniel had nothing to do with it," George replied calmly, despite his shaking hands. He didn't know why but talking back to Gared had always been a traumatic experience for him because he knew at the end he would end up blaming himself again. That in the end, he would end up questioning his existence again and wondering if maybe he died instead of their mother, maybe everything would be fine. Even until now, these thoughts remained inside him but he knew this had got to stop.

"Nothing to do with it?! Insane!? Ha! Maybe I am but you cannot change the fact that because of you, my mother died," Gared insisted with a crazy laugh. George already knew that Gared was already too far off to be able to change that quickly so he had nothing else to say. He couldn't convince him all these years, if a talk like this worked, none of this would have happened. Thankfully, three muscled men arrived and immediately grabbed Gared's arms.

"What is the meaning of this? Let go of me!" Gared yelled, being dragged away.

"You have to calm yourself a little, brother..." George said, his tone saddened before he looked at the rest. "I'm sorry everyone. Our family has caused you so much trouble." He apologized. Chendong and Laura looked at each other before shifting their gaze back at George. Gared was still yelling across the hallway, causing another scene but they all decided to ignore it at this point.

"It's okay. We're almost just one family here," Chendong said while Laura nodded in agreement, making George smile gratefully at the couple.

"You don't have to shoulder everything, Dad. We're family," Daniel mumbled still in tears before he briefly hugged George who felt relieved that his son was okay.

"Thank you. I just knew I had to take responsibility... but are you okay?? Don't listen to whatever he said. I may have done you wrong in the past but you have been part of this family from the beginning," George said, wiping Daniel's tears who nodded in understanding.

Meanwhile, Maverick was being helped by his brothers, also trying to calm him down. Thankfully, their father didn't blurt anything out regarding his involvement with the recent scandal but he was still shaking unable to utter a single word. He tried to act strong but against his father, he just couldn't. When he looked at Joaquinn, the tears that he thought were going to end started streaming again. His sobs were loud and everyone felt bad for him. Of course, only those who knew the entire situation could truly empathize with him, however, George stepped closer to Maverick before putting his hand over his head, patting it gently.

"Maverick, you don't have to listen to your father. This was not your fault. You're an intelligent child, don't let someone like him ruin your life. We're always here to help you if you're in need. Among us, no one is blaming you so you can be happy. Father and the rest of us would want that for you," George gently conveyed, as if he was saying it to himself. On the other hand, as Maverick listened, his tear-filled eyes widened looking at George. He smiled hearing those words but his tears wouldn't stop falling. He had never shown so much emotion and he felt relieved that he did. Of course, George's words made him feel like it was okay for him to be free now… that no one would blame him if he chose to try and be happy. Maverick continued to sob but he thanked everyone for supporting him before his eyes landed on Fyre and specifically on Tian Zi who was by the Omega's side feeling grateful that this kind of opportunity was opened for him when the Alpha decided to help him.

In the first place, he was ready to get on with it and just let it all out. He no longer cared, he just wanted it to be over but Tian Zi and Fyre were there to help him even though he didn't really ask for it. But now, he was given a chance to change and be happy.

Meanwhile, Fyre and Tian Zi looked at each other. It was rather an intense scene to witness and they didn't think it was right for them to suddenly announce that they were together. That announcement would have to be put on hold. They both didn't say a single word but as if the words were said, they just nodded in response before their hands secretly intertwined before glancing at Maverick and smiling at him, assuring the Omega that from now on, everything would be okay.
