Morgana

After venting his anger, Ace finally regained some clarity in his mind. He staggered a little, all his earlier effort draining his energy, but still in that state he turned and walked towards Ruby. The tall young man came over, knelt and put his hands under the girl's head. He made a pillow of his arms and awaited Morgana's arrival.

Not even 30 seconds passed when the crowd opened up and a black woman in her 50s hurried through it. She wore a beige dress with some white details, she was bald and in her hands some brown twigs came out of her skin. These branches weren't big, the biggest was only about 8 centimeters, but they completely covered her hand. She quickened her pace when she noticed the state of the girl's leg passed out.

"Stand away! I need to treat her!" When she got close to the patient, she asked everyone to back off and Ace, even though he was still distressed by Ruby's situation, heeded Morgana's commands, leaving and waiting 'with fingers crossed' for everything to go well.

Morgana never took her eyes off the wound, about 2 cm of the bone was exposed and a 10 cm area of the calf in the back was completely fleshless, almost all of the shin muscle dissolved into a red paste on the floor.

"But what happened here?!" She took a deep breath, she was very curious about what had happened before, an injury of this magnitude doesn't come from simple causes.

However, she had to treat the girl quickly or she would lose her leg. Morgana closed her eyes, concentrated, and held out her hands. Her branches expanded, not in width but in length. The expansion continued until they reached the young woman's wound on the ground, they began to wrap the entire shin until forming a kind of bandage that isolated the entire wound.

After wrapping the entire wound with her branches, the doctor opened her eyes and retracted her hand. The branches, previously connected, detached themselves from the doctor and went around the wound, leaving not a single branch unusable. The mutant doctor then brought her hands to her head, rubbing them hard and suddenly a red goo began to come out of her scalp.

When the ooze began to fall to the ground, Morgana put her head just above the injured leg, allowing the viscous fluid to flow precisely into the branches surrounding the wound. The liquid turned the branches, before brown, to red quickly, the interesting thing was that the goo was totally absorbed by the branches, not letting a drop drip onto the ground.

Everyone around was stunned seeing the scene, it was not something beautiful to see, but no one blinked since the beginning of the treatment, many of them were seeing the illustrious Morgana for the first time. However, they soon became distracted from the doctor, as a high-pitched scream invaded the ears of everyone present.

Just as the twigs wrapped around the girl's wound absorbed the slimy paste, Ruby woke up from her fainting fit and screamed desperately. She had passed out from feeling a lot of pain and now woke up for the same reason, this would probably be the worst day of her life.

While everyone was paying attention to Ruby, the feathered wing trainer Asa reminded himself that it wasn't just the girl who was hurt. Apparently, excluding him, everyone forgot that Lucas was in an extremely serious condition than Ruby. So when he remembered that, he ran as fast as he could towards the metal beams.

It was impossible to recognize Lucas' body, besides the first rod going through his chest and pinning him to the ground, there were two other nails in the ground running through his body. One was in the abdomen while the other was in the left leg and together with the shrapnel, they destroyed practically the entire body of the young man, not even his face was free from the wound. The shards of iron pierced and tore his skin; his right leg, once intact, now looked like a cactus, his face and all other skin was covered in shrapnel, totally unrecognizable.

"My God... He's still alive!" Asa raised his arm and covered his mouth, he almost vomited when he saw the young man's state, luckily he saw that there were some breathing movements on the side of the chest that wasn't hit by the rod. This stunned him, but he managed to control himself and began pulling out the metal stakes. The easiest one to take off was the first, as he had already lost momentum when he hit his target, but for the other two he had to call for help and only then did the others realize what a miserable state Lucas was.

Roberto, the black-handed trainer, helped take out the stakes and even his heavy training in the army didn't help him withstand seeing someone in that situation.

"How is this possible?! What the fuck!" His reaction was the same as everyone else's, profound astonishment.

After removing the beams, they were finally able to see clearly how the young man was, and it wasn't long before everyone was terrified once again by what they saw.

The coaches already knew and witnessed the skill of this new teammate, but seeing it working in this critical situation was another story. Before they saw only a few superficial cuts heal, but now they saw a corpse come to life again. Everyone watched the blood spilled on the floor come back and rebuild the tissues, bones and flesh scattered across the floor, it wasn't a good sight, but the viewers felt like they were in a science fiction movie.

Roberto thought about calling Morgana, but he didn't need to, because a voice that wasn't loud sounded, however, as the silence was dominating the area, everyone could hear.

"This is disgusting… but fantastic! I'd like to study it later, if possible—" Morgana voiced her intentions without hiding anything, her eyes gleaming as she saw Lucas regenerating.

"Not this time, it's very important for exploration. You saw the state he was in and how he is now, but he doesn't even need a doctor, it's almost a gift from God to us!" Roberto interrupted immediately. He looked at the doctor beside him and showed his firm stance.

"He's right, you'll have to make do with as much as his blood, if he'll let you, of course." Asa supported fervently, a 'gem' like that couldn't be stuck in a department where there wasn't much need and neglect the place where it could really make a difference.

"Hmph! We'll see!" She huffed and turned to leave, taking one last look at Lucas.

As Ruby's situation had stabilized after waking up, the doctor asked to take her to the infirmary. The young woman was still crying in pain, but she was more lucid and the viscous liquid was helping her recovery. Ace promptly used his mutation to take her, carrying her as comfortably as possible. Meanwhile, Lucas was almost fully recovered, but not awake. The trainers then retrieved a stretcher and took him to a room where he could rest.

Some time later, in a room adapted for an infirmary, an unrecognizable silhouette was sitting behind a table, under the table there was a small black worm crawling, but there was a certain pattern in its movements. There was no one else in the room, the lighting was done by some torches and candles around. There were some stretchers stacked up to be used and some medical equipment on the counters, it looked like a storeroom.

From the lighting, I couldn't see the silhouette's face, but a murmur came out of its mouth and seemed to be aimed at the worm.

"I couldn't wait any longer, finally."
