The Change

I awoke in a strange place I had not been to before, it looked like a hospital, but was more futuristic than the ones back on Earth. I looked around a bit and saw someone reading a book in the corner of the room. It was Swan, and she didn't look worried about me just bored from the book. I sat up slowly as I felt stiff and worn out still. Swan saw me getting up and she came by his side, she then called for the doctor and we waited. "Jacob the doctor has some things she wants to tell you before you continue this journey in the U-F," Swan said when the doctor walked into the room.

She, the Doctor looked over my sheet, and D.N.A, information to refresh her mind on me. "You fought hard on your mission to the point your body could not keep up with the demand to fight or recover. You young man hasn't had your Body enhancements yet and you were put on a mission you weren't ready for physically. You also have been sleeping from the energy, it's been two months since you passed out. " I looked at the Doctor and asked, "What is that? The enhancement I mean."

The Doctor looked over at Swan, "no one has told you yet Jacob? " She asked me to get a shrug from me and Swan. "No, ma'am, I was just thrown into the classes and expected to keep up with the faster cadets," I said as the Doctor was not happy with the U-F and them deciding to let me go to the academy without the proper enhancements. She smiled and broke it down for me as informational as she could without confusing me.

" Jacob, Every cadet in the U-F has to go through a medical procedure to increase their beings on health. Most gain more energy, speed, strength, and sometimes long life, up to ten times the expected life span of an individual. You for being here because of a power trip from the higher-ups haven't been given any of this, but were scheduled to get it a week before your mission. With this, you will not be human technically to human doctors and you'll be able to have children with any U-F officer opposite of your gender. " The Doctor gave me a sheet of paper with all my numbers on how much of the enhancements I was going to take.

What if looked like I was to take ninety percent of the enhancements and be given a new suit with it. "We have you scheduled for the end of the semester to take your procedure, but with your growing popular like you are, we might need to move you up in two months. " The Doctor said, giving me the reminder of my appointment. "Oh Jacob," I looked over at Swan when she called my name. "You'll be trained on the Pandora for the tournament we in the U-F have for all the academies. Then that should be done before your enhancements."

I took a step back and took in all the information I had just gotten, it was a lot to take in at once and swan knew this. She came up to me and told me the Captain on Pandora was a good trainer and may not need all the procedures when I'm done. "How long will I be in the tournament? "

Swan smiled at me then told me that she would let me know how long the tournament was going to be. A day passed and I was moving into an officer's apartment and Bradley was released. I was in the bathroom putting on this new uniform for the Pandora. I found out every ship had a unique uniform, but also a bit similar in colors. My uniform was still black, but my accents were now red and white. This uniform reminded me of a soldier's uniform earth's old german uniform. I saw a blue symbol of a lion on my chest and shoulders.

I was ready to go, but I was running late if I didn't leave now and I headed to the hangars. I said goodbye to Bradley and I jumped into a speeder and floored it to the ship. As I got to the hanger I took out the cup of coffee, I stored in my pack. Took a long drink and went into the ship, but before I was all the way in. I ran into Roc who was checking the ship's data, he looked over at me, smiled and I told him I wanted to talk once I got back.

When I got into a group of officers, they looked at me and laughed. "Who's this kid, I don't know he might be lost? " They said to each other as I got pissed, they looked at my uniform and saw it was black and had the ship's crest on it. "I am Jake Zero and I was requested to train with the captain of this ship," I said, shutting the crew up once the Captain decided to come into the hangar of the ship.

"Oh, so you're the one Swan sent my way to train?" Said a loud booming voice behind me, when I turned around to see who it was I wasn't shocked it was a lion. I smiled at the Captain, "Yes, sir, I don't know why, but Captain Swan wanted me to train before the tournament." The captain looked into my eyes and held out his hand, "My name I Hallz it's a pleasure to meet you cadet Zero." I shook the captain's hand we headed into the rest of the ship. He showed me all around so I used to the ship and knew where everything was.

I saw things right from the movies all around the ship like tanks smaller fighters and giant robots for cargo. It was a fantastic thing to see till we came to the bridge, there I meet commander Zogy who was a Lion as well. She was much like Swan with how serious she was about her job and she didn't seem to like me around Hallz. "Commander Zogy this is Swan's Cadet Zero, he was the one who beat her and your record at the academy." He said to her inciting more hatred for me, which was kind of fun for everyone else.

My orders for the next two months of training were to do the regimen the best I physically could till the day of the tournament. I was given three days of training off and on meaning, I'd train for three and be given a rest for three. This was to boost my energy and strength for the tournament. So right after I meet the commander and captain training began. I was given a weapon and was starting my workouts in full gear. They were harder than anything I've done in my life. I had moments where the area I was working where my body got heavier and heavier.

My weapon training was different from what I choose to fight with wasn't a regular gun, I choose a Lazer sword and handgun for my weapons. During one of my breaks after I was done with a hard part. I was in the mess hall eating some food when Hallz asked me a question, "Why do you like carrying a laser sword as your weapon? Do you know we have better guns in the U-F to choose from? I looked at my hands, then said to him after I put the sword on the table. "I would rather be free to move faster to get closer than be far away and have a harder time taking out my targets."

Hallz understood what I was getting at, "Everyone here is adapted to fight at long and midrange, but you, my new friend like to get up close. Must be a human thing am I right? " Later that day when I was in my room with nothing to do, I got a call from my Brother. He told me that Swan wanted to talk to me as soon as I could reach her. She had something important for me and needed to tell me face to face.

Brad hung up and I called Swan right away, It took only a millisecond when she picked up. "Hello Jacob, it is good to see and hear you again. How is the training going over there with Hallz, I hear his training is very hard on his crew "? I smiled at her and agreed, "Yes, it has been hard, but I've been getting stronger and stronger as I trained." I said to her and she had a question from the look I saw on her face. "What's the question Swan?" I asked her, she looked confused that I knew she was going to ask one.

"Are you free in a couple of days?" She asked me after I smiled at her and she blushed when I told her I was free for a bit. "I have this party on my home planet and I need an escort for it and I can't think of an officer competent enough to do the job. So, I want to ask you to be my escort for the week I'm there. " I looked over at the window and thought about it for a moment, "Yes, I'd be happy to help you out captain when do I leave? " She then told me she was going to pick me up herself and I wouldn't have to worry about clothes. She would have Bradley send her some when we got to the planet.

After that formal conversation, we talked for what felt like forever till that was when Hallz came into the room looking for me. We talked about what Swan had told me and so he had me do whatever I could before she was to arrive. We went to the gym the ship had and I sparred with a couple of the crew for my training getting used to the way faster opponents fight. The first guy had eight arms and moved like a snake with his body.

I moved around dodging all the guy strikes till the guy hit me in the face with a cheap shot. I hit the ground hard and he laughed at me. My face hurt and I was extremely pissed with being laughed at, I jumped up and looked him dead in the eyes. I spit a tooth, then my eyes went dark and Hallz noticed my aura changed. For Hallz the air was cold and all I remember was getting close to my opponent and then I blacked out. On the Hallz side of things, he saw what a human could really be like pissed off. He watched me straight punch the arm guy in the face, then I kept hitting him till Hallz had to stop me.

When I woke up or came too, I saw the guy was in a bloody mess and barely breathing. I was ashamed that my rage did this, but Hallz wasn't made. "Kid it's alright, he will be fine a bit beaten up, but this proves you have gotten stronger." Looked over at him and I didn't smile, "but what will happen if you or someone can't stop me?" This was a troubling thing for me and will this affect me when I go to the tournament? I guess we will find out once I get there, I was going down the hall away from the gym when Hallz gave everyone an update. "Attention crew, we are going to be going back to base for resupply, and Jacob, you'll have Swan waiting for you at home."

Everyone around me looked at me when he said that last part and I blushed when Zogy said behind me. "Oh, little birdy likes her little human does she?" I smiled and replied to her with a polite tone, "Not that I know of but I am going to her home to escort her home." I thought about what I said and then Zogy smiled and walked away.
