Her Arrival

As we four arrived at the base, we had Justin immediately sign up at the academy to start his career as a member of the U-F. Justin and I went up to the front desk, where I started my journey as a U-F officer. The lady from back then was there still and she saw me right away. "Hello Jacob, it's good to see you again." She said to me smiling as she looked over and saw Justin right behind me, he was looking around at all the people passing by.

"I need to sign this guy up, he's from Earth, so he doesn't know the universal writing yet." I smiled back to tell her about how Brad was doing.

She handed me the papers she had made already and I gave them to Justin. I told him where to write and he was given a room and wrist communicator like I got when I started. I showed him to his room and then I went home, I was on my pad looking at all the pictures I took on Earth.

Swan saw my eyes teared up, then I had a bunch of the best ones printed off the front when we were about to leave. I placed them next to the one of Brad and I had, I saw Swan in the corner looking at me. I kissed her on the forehead and she dragged me into the bedroom for some fun adult time, this was the first moment we had been alone together since getting married.

A couple of days later in the room next door to ours, there was an egg. It was huge and looked colorful from its white and purple lines all over it. " Swan my dear, did you lay this last night?" I asked her and she just smiled at me, "Yes, this our child together, hoping this will be a daughter like your mother wants." She told me while we went over to the egg, then she dropped a piece of bombshell news to me.

"Oh, I almost forgot, I am retiring from the U-F now till to look after our little one. " The one thing that concerned me was, who was going to control the ship? Who was going to be the new captain? " She told me that Hallz was going to take over the ship with me., or at least for the time being. After a minute of us all talking about the baby, I began to cry a bit, I was going to become a father at a young age. I am now in my early twenties looking at fatherhood soon, this was going to be scary for me.

Swan saw my face was worried and she grabbed my hands to get my attention. "My dear, I will always be here for you. You will also be a great father no matter what you think of yourself, You don't have to be scared of this creature. " Both of us walked over to the egg and wondered what she was going to look like?

Days had passed and I was on a mission, I was ordered to take a pirate king out. We only had five people on this mission, I was one and Brad was the other one. The two of us were standing over the area where the king was. The others were to wait before we started, " Ok, Commander Zero, Take the front and Brad is to take the window near the back of the building. " Everyone else had their orders for the mission.

I jumped to the front of the front door and knocked out seven guards in one move. I smiled when I saw Brad go through the window, I ran into the building after him. I fought off a dozen guards without a gun going off. I made it to the main room where it was very dark and from the glow, from my Lazer sword I looked at our target. The steam coming off the sword went past my face, the King stood up and looked at the both of us, (Brad and I) He took one step at us and began talking to us.

" Ah, you must be the Commander Zero I've heard stories about, I'm guessing you're here to kill me where I stand?" Brad was next to me when the pirate smiled at the both of us again, Just as I was going to step forward my crew smashed into the room. Everyone had their guns pointed at the King, " Yes, King Baris you do die here today, I'm sorry, orders are orders." The King's smiled went away and I threw my sword into his face killing him.

I told Brad to tag the target and it was time to go home finally, When we got to the ship, and headed back to home base. My thoughts were on one woman and her egg, how fast do the Birdain's eggs hatch? When I got to home base I was stopped the by Head Captain of our home. She was waiting for me in a hovercar looking right at the ramp I was walking down. " Hello Jake, you completed another mission I see?" She said to me as I shook my head yes, " Heard you even picked you're own Squad too, well we need to talk for a moment let me give you a ride home so we can chat. " I agreed to her offer and went with her, we spoke to each other for a while till we got home.

Swan came running outside when she heard the ship settle by the house. "Jacob, hurry come quickly the egg!" She yelled to me as I jumped out of the car and ran right past Swan to the egg's room. Right, when I got there I saw the egg hatching right before my eyes, Swan was right next to me as we watched it for a while. I heard the little cries of my child and I spoke to it softly, " Come on little one, come on we're waiting for you."

The egg began to crack more and more while I put my hand on the shell and when my child finally pushed it jumped right out of the egg. I caught the kid in my arms right as my brother came into the room with Justin right behind him. They spotted the small bird harpy-looking thing In mine and Swan's hands. She was a perfect-looking version of both of her parents, she had feathers around her face but had mostly humanlike features.

Everyone stared at the child a bit and then Swan took the child in her hands so we could stand up. I looked at the baby closer and gave her my hand. " Hello little one, welcome to our world." The baby smiled at me and I almost died from it is so cute. I walked Swan over to the couch and when I sat next to them, Swan gave her to me and I was terrified of dropping her.

" I will protect you with my whole being, you will never know hardship or fear as long as I am living," I said to the little one and then Brad and Justin put their hands on my knee and vowed the same. " We will never let anything happen to your father and if the worst comes to pass we will protect you both. " They both said as they looked at Swan too, talking about keeping my family safe if I was gone. We all smiled and stayed silent for a moment when the Head Cpt walked into the room when things calmed down. She saw the child in the baby bed, we had for her, she was sleeping and everything was full of happiness.

"What is this little one's name, may I ask?" Head Cpt said to us, we all looked at each other and realized the child has no name. I looked over at Swan and she had nothing to call her, "We can't just name her anything it needs to mean something. Swan in my people's language means, Empress of the flock." Brad looked over at the child and saw she had feathers and hair, "Why don't we call her Cala after the greek bird of folklore Caladrius the ancient bird in white." Swan's ear perked up and she looked at the little girl. "Cala, now that's a fine name for our child, has a meaning and is also from your own Planet." I grabbed Swan's hands and then hugged her when she was confused, " We made a really good-looking child Swan."

We all laughed a bit and then we all went to the living room to have our conversations away from little Cala.
