The First Kill

Leonard began to browse the system shop, starting from the Mystical section and working his way down. If an item here could directly locate Yukki, it could help him greatly. As he went through, he silently took note of certain items that could prove useful in his quest to locate and obtain Yukki. Particularly, he took note of the "Invisible Tracking Device". He would have to plant it on a target, and it would track their location for the next 24 hours. He finished and started analyzing. None of the items could directly find her, so he began to think about the few people he knew that might be gang members.

He could use the Living System's methods to overpower them, and then interrogate them for information. However, he soon came across a problem. 'The Silver Nights were a new gang, even though they supposedly are the old gang with a new leader, who knows if the people I know we're part of the old gang are still part of the new gang! That's not even all, what if they are unwilling to speak!'

After a short while, Leonard giggled to himself, 'This could be considered a trial, a test of my determination and ruthlessness!' With that, he went to his room and reached under the floorboards under his bed, taking out his savings and directly stuffing it all into the system. He took out his wallet, and put the few loose bills he had into the system as well!

He looked at the amount of money in the system.

[Money: $531]

"God, I'm poor!" Leonard laughed at himself.

Leonard looked around the house, finding a piece of paper. He then proceeded to take an hour as he wrote down the general residency locations of multiple people, before folding it and storing it. He would need this to remember where to go. It took him an hour to remember and write these, how could he remember them on the spot later?

Going to the kitchen, he browsed around looking for something. "Here we are!" he said as he found it in the depths of one of the drawers, a lock pick. He went to grab it but noticed something next to it.' This is…' Leonard reached towards it. It was some leftover herbal paste Elder Zhou had once given him. "Elder Zhou…" Leonard sighed, "This is for you, too."

Leonard took off his bloodied clothes and rubbed the paste over his bruises and sore spots, covering them back up with some bandages. After putting on a fresh pair of clothes and throwing his old ones away, Leonard looked outside. His eyes flashing with a sinister light as malicious thoughts started churning in his mind.

He entered the shop, buying a set of black robes that covered his entire body, including the face and hands. It set him back an entire $350, but time was not on his side.

He would also need a weapon. He tried looking into some weapons he could use at a distance, like a gun, but they were all too expensive or impractical. In the end, he ended up settling for a moderate-quality knife for $120. It was expensive, but the ability to put it in the inventory was crucial for what he was about to do.

He walked outside, closing the door behind him. He was nervous. Imagining what he was gonna do next, second thoughts struck him, but through determination, he took his first steps out. He pulled out the makeshift map he had made. It listed the nearby neighbors and who he believed to be in gangs. One of the houses down his street he had seen someone covered in tattoos enter multiple times.

'Either they are in a gang or supply for a gang… I will try them first! They must have some information on where they are taking Yukki!'

Walking down the sidewalk, Leonard slowly neared his first destination. His eyes flickered. He moved into the bushes on the wide, walking further into the wilderness. Once he found a suitable tree, he abandoned his clothes on the ground as he changed into his black robes. Crouching across the fence towards his target's backyard, he reached one of the house's walls.

Walking around the house, Leonard was inspecting the windows to find the room the gangster was sleeping in.

'I've learned about picking locks from my job… I can't believe how often the key to the bathroom ended up going missing…' Right as he finished this thought he noticed something peculiar.

In front of Leonard, was an opened window with a screen. From there, he could see a man's sleeping body, his head near the window.

'Ain't no way..' Leonard was dumbfounded. 'Even if he was a gangster, how could he sleep so unsafely? How arrogant to think his mere reputation means he wouldn't need to take care of his safety.' Leonard was starting to think he must have forgotten to close the window.' No way he actually doesn't care, right?' He was prepared to go through a lot more effort to find an opportunity.

Leonard put his ears to the wall.

"….grooooooooa…..groaaaaaah"

Sure enough, he was sleeping, his snores gave it away. From here, Leonard knew what to do. 'Interrogate him. He will have the info I need, I'll make sure he tells me everything. But still...I barely had money to purchase things I needed from the system. I might just die trying to interrogate him.' Yukki immediately crossed back into his mind.

Leonard let out a sigh of fear, 'once I do this, there is no going back.'

Leonard slowly crawled into the window. It barely was up high enough for him to get in, but he squished his body through the crevasse. He stepped his foot inside the room and immediately stepped on something.

"Sh-" Leonard almost let out. He looked down and noticed that he had stepped on a pack of cigarettes. Leonard looked up at the man in bed. Luckily, he was still sleeping. Leonard slowly made his way to the edge of the bed, this time paying better attention to where he was walking. As he got closer and closer, his heartbeat harder and faster.

He was standing above the sleeping gang member. Leonard waited until he calmed down, standing motionless above him. He thought of the knife that he purchased from the system and grabbed it from the vault. He slowly bent over, making sure not to knock anything down that could alert of his presence. He slowly placed the sharp end of the knife on the gang member's throat. Quickly, he sprung to action, jumping on top of the gang member, pinning him down so that he could not move and try something funny.

"WHERE DID THEY TAKE HER!" Leonard shouted. He made sure it was loud enough to wake up the gang member but quiet enough so that neighbors wouldn't hear what transpired that night.

"O...Oh Shit! " The man woke up violently, struggling to speak as the knife was pressed onto his throat, making a small amount of blood leak from it. "Woah Woah Woah! What are you talking about, we can work this out, man!" The gang member said as he realized what was happening.

"The Silver Nights! They took a girl earlier today! Where did they take her! Don't think I won't end you if you try something!" Leonard threatened the gang member.

"A girl… I know the one... Yeah… They took her to…" The gang member let out a small chuckle as he threw Leonard off of him. Leonard rolled off the bed and smashed into the floor. Swiftly getting up and charging back at the gang member, who had his back to Leonard, looking for something in his drawer.

*Shank*

The man got pinned into the wall. Blood leaked from his side.

"You bitch! You actually stabbed me!" He said as he leaned onto the wall and slowly collapsed. He held back his scream with his hand. Blood slowly stained the gang members' white shirt. Again, he chuckled, "You want to know where they took her...East Marshall warehouse, that's where they keep girls like her… As if you could do anything about it…" He looked Leonard dead in the eyes. He saw his cold eyes, the eyes of a killer. "You remind me of how I used to be back in the day.." he told Leonard with a smirk.

Leonard walked over to the gang member and ripped out the knife, and stabbed the gang member again and again. After Leonard stabbed him 14 more times, he stood back.

"My...son is in the...next room...please don't hurt...him…" As the gang member said this he fell to the floor. As he laid there on the floor, he stopped moving.

[Daily Mission: Kill a gangster. (Complete)]

Leonard's body shook, this was his first kill. "He had a son…", Leonard's heart hurt for a brief second, before he snapped back to reality. He couldn't hesitate now. He already came this far. Determination.

He knew where they might have taken Yukki, he couldn't think of the consequences of what he did now. He grabbed the cigarettes that were on the ground and approached the body. The knife was still buried deep into the gang member.

Leonard took his knife back and ran back towards the woods. 'Inventory!'

A familiar vault appeared in front of Leonard's eyes. He threw his knife inside and boom. The murder weapon was no longer real. He hurried to the window and made his way back to the tree where he left his clothes. He stripped down, throwing his bloodied clothes into the inventory, putting his other clothes back on.

Back at his house, he opened a map that he had owned for a while. "I used to need this to make my way to work. I'm sure I've passed this place in the past...Here!" Leonard located it, a small location by the pier labeled "East Marshall" Normally, this is where all of the imported goods are stored, but this is also where Yukki was, according to the gang member.

"There is only one way for me to know if this is the right location, I need to go and check tomorrow!"
