Chapter 5 The rain keeper

Niffa opened her eyes as she was surprise to see a plate of cookies and a bottle of milk in the table, she took a bite and it was always the same taste like before. She always remembered the bakery she use to visit every time she ate those peanut butter cookies. She was shocked to see Rico meditating in the living room as the violet fire around him was so captivating in her eyes, she told herself not to touch it again for it was prickly hot but she can't help herself but to touch it for the second time. Her eyes widened when she didn't feel anything upon touching it with her finger then all of a sudden the house was filled with bright light as they both covered their eyes in surprise making it so hard for them to see anything, then Niffa quickly remove her finger from the fire.

"Niffa? Why did you do that?"

"I… don't have any idea about that strange light."

"Did your finger hurt?"

"No… not at all, but that light was really unusual."

Niffa said then Rico remembered last night where in Queen Luize passed her power towards her, it's maybe the reason why she didn't feel the prick from his fire.

"It's strange, maybe that light was cause by our emerging power" Rico said.

"Our? But you only have that kind of power"

"Niffa" Rico said and he quickly grasp her right hand as Niffa was shock from it.

"This hand can create such powers that you can't imagine, you just have to focus to control them… So let's do it again"

"Do what?"

"You touch the violet fire a while ago right? Do it again"

Rico said as he produce his violet fire from his right hand. Niffa gulp thinking that it might not be a good idea as she slowly touch the fire with her palm, and to their surprise the sparkling light covered the entire house and into the forest as it struck their eyes in a painful way. It took four minutes for them to make the light stay as it produce such strong wind towards them then Niffa suddenly felt a burning sensation in her hand as Rico quickly push her away. The light was gone and Niffa cough as she spits blood on the ground, she look around and to her surprise the house was on fire even the forest are filled with fire while small animals run for their lives.

"Oh no what have we done!" She said as she started to panic. She was terrified to see Rico on his knees while his head was bowed down, she quickly run towards him as she quickly catch him from hitting the ground. Rico was unconscious while his nose is bleeding,

"Rico! Rico! Wake up!" Niffa said as she laid him in her lap while tapping his cheek.

"Your temperature is high, oh no what will I do?" she said as she touch his cheek. She didn't hesitate to try the Queen's power, she remembered what Rico told her to focus on her own power as she slowly close her eyes feeling the electricity of her power. As she closed her eyes she can see how her mother use to create massive body of water even if no bodies of water was around them. The life in the forest and Rico becomes her will in focusing as she opened her eyes as it sparkled In green ranging like a fire, she raise her hands as she look up she can hear a rumbling sound as the clouds gathered around them. The clouds becomes dark as it pours heavy rains making the fires around them disappear, the rain continues as Niffa's eyes turned into a normal one.

"Rico… I did it! Rico? Rico?! Please wake up you have to see this!" she said as they were wet in rain. Niffa suddenly cried as she embrace Rico on her lap. Then Rico suddenly opened his eyes as he was surprise from Niffa's hug, he push her away as he cough in relief then he widened his eyes when he realized that it was raining in the midst of summer. He quickly turned to see Niffa smiling towards him as tears fall from her eyes.

"Niffa? You did it" Rico said, she just nodded while smiling. He slowly wipe Niffa's tears from her cheek and smiled back as they hug each other.

Minutes later, the rain stops as Niffa went to the forest to see such dreadful surroundings. Animals are injured and some are dead on the spot, Niffa cried as she walk towards the raccoon lying under the tree as its feet burned. She touch it as the raccoon keeps on catching its breathe.

"I'm sorry, I don't mean to hurt you guys" she said as she covered her face and crying on her knees.

"Niffa… You need to see this" Rico said from behind, she quickly wiped her tears and follow him back in the house.

"Watch this" He said as he close his eyes and wave his right hand in an open palm and in just a second the house was built back and same house like before.

"How did you?" Niffa ask in surprise as she walk slowly towards the house.

"I can't believe your life is so easy" Niffa said as he look back while smiling.

"You can say that my life is easy… but it wasn't, I want to know more about my past and who really am I"

"Rico, I will help you with that I dreamed about Samari the last time and your powers just came up right? We can try to understand the connections of my dreams in your past."

"I know, you are a big help to me" he said and smiled back.

"Well I wonder why you are not getting old, you remain the same the day I meet you 10 years ago"

"It's a sorcerer thing… you know sorcerers never get old"

"I just knew that now, you look like same at my age though"

"Wow, then let's pretend I'm 20 years old too"

"Well, let's make it 23" she said as they chuckled. They clean the house and arrange things the entire day.

"Niffa, follow me and I will show you another magic"

"Sure"

They went straight into the forest at night as they pass through some of the dead animals and burned trees.

"We shouldn't do that mistake again"

"I know Rico, it's too powerful."

"I spent my years observing powers of the royalties and sorcerers but that light… I just saw that"

"It's unusual because we accidentally emerge our powers accidentally"

"It's not an accident Niffa, our emerging power has a deeper meaning I'm not sure what it is but that's how I feel."

Niffa just felt curious about it as she started to feel the eager to kill King Seres to avenge for her parents and the kingdom.

"Niffa are you ready?" he ask while his right hand is in upward position and palms like what he just did before. She just nodded as she watch Rico wave his hand sideways as Violet light struck the forest and to her surprise the forest went back to normal as violet light covered the entire forest. The dead animals becomes alive, the flowers bloom as it glitters in violet and the trees grow as tall like before. Niffa felt like she was in the magical book she always read before, she smiled as she saw the squirrels climbing up the tree. She smelled the bunch of flowers on her way as it reminds her of how peaceful the forest was.

"What kind of power is that? Did you just turn back time?"

"No, I can actually turn things into its original state and I can also heal…but my healing power is not strong enough to heal those who have royalty blood."

"That's why you can't heal my mother."

Rico look down feeling so desperate about it.

"Rico, let's just go back to the house I want to continue my training tomorrow"

She said as she wrap her arm around Rico's shoulder.

"Get your hands off me, it's too heavy" he said and he remove her hand as he smirk.

"Geez this young man is such a touch aversion" she teased as she walk fast to catch up.

"Thank you for calling me young man" he said as they chuckle on their way.

It was another day for Niffa as she went straight into the river as she stands right in the cliff, she took a deep breathe and tried to concentrate as she closed her eyes again. She saw her mother over again which makes her feel the energy inside as her power sparks on her body, she opened her eyes as it range like a fire and it's always green in color. She finally understand that green was her raging power while Rico has violet. Clouds formed circles as the river rises, she can finally control them.

Rico suddenly fell on the ground from his sleep as he felt something strange is coming. He quickly snap his finger as he wait for Eris to fly down towards him.

"Eris I want you to spy at the kingdom of Veroma, I know Seres is planning something I have that kind of feeling… Be back after night!" he said as the hawk flew from afar.

Rico waited for Niffa to come back from the river, it took eight hours of waiting while reading some magical books. Then he saw Eris outside as it lands its huge body on the ground.

"Eris, you came back earlier than I thought, let me see what you've got" he said as he put his left palm on Eris' forehead and close his eyes, It's his technique to see Eris' memories as it transfer through his mind.
