Prevent the inevitable

Looking now, Noah could detect a personality change when he looked at Darius now, the leading take charge and thoughtful Darius was now replaced by an attention-loving and seeking person who liked to busk in his glory over others. To him, it was useless to seek attention from others because that would come with power. The only reason why many of them were giving Darius praise was that they feared him, the leopard enforcer on the opponents' team was as strong if not stronger than Darius and if he could defeat him, why couldn't he kill them or deathly injure them so right now, they had to be in his good book so they don't get the backlash of disrespecting him. "It was amazing to see how power can change a community, a person, and even people's perception of you once you had it," Noah thought chuckling a bit because he could see the road which Darius was heading to but it had only short term effects and sooner or later, they would grow stronger than him because elemental abilities had more potential that beast enforcement.

However, even in his thoughts, Noah was still highly alert because of the encounter he had in this very Hall. His eyes started scanning the room only to find nothing of need. He desperately wished he had his Overhead skill right now but it was no use crying over spilled milk but he would make the most of this situation.

He had been extremely relieved when he didn't have to be paired with his shield, rather his roommate. Rhett was already stronger than Noah and if it came to a one-on-one stand, and that is a big IF, he would surely lose as his chances of winning were nearly 0.1. He sighed at this and got a newfound determination deep within him to get stronger no matter what, Being weak most of his life had had a great impact on him but he couldn't say that it was completely useless. He was forced to mature mentally faster than any of his classmates due to his poor living conditions and that the only thought in his mind by then was survival. He was so very grateful that the system had shown up, although he didn't know much about it, that would be fixed as he had finished his quest and would get a lot more information about it.

"Attention" an authoritative voice boomed in the hall where a lot of people were chattering about a recent fight that had once again left students and teachers dumbfounded.

"The matches will once again resume in a short while, use this time in any way you deem fit" the black-haired man concluded.

His team immediately knew the circumstances under which they were. They may have made it to the third round but that didn't mean they were powerful, rather according to common sense, the teams that had made it this far in the matches had to be extremely strong and that would make Noah's team either average strength or weak but Noah knew that someone was only using a fraction of their strength. There was no way he believed that a beast enforcer could even land a finger on Althea's heavenly body. A person with a space warp fixture was too fast to even be tracked by a beast enforcer's instincts or agility. She was obviously trying to keep on the low but why?

Darius was obviously out of the plans but where had he got the first plans for the two matches, Noah couldn't believe that he had changed so drastically, thinking about it, Darius could be a Pure but Noah quickly dismissed that idea as his strength was too low to be a Pure, he could rather be a Ripple.

"Everyone just watch out for each other during the match," Darius said confidently.

Everyone: "..."

His teammates were completely taken back by, this stupidity. Calvin, the water manipulator was one of the first ones to speak up.

"What kind of foolish, dense , mindless and brainless idea is that," he said momentarily forgetting his fear for Darius. He was backed up by the rest of the team.

"Does any of you have a better idea?" Darius asked suddenly switching personality and mood. Everyone else kept quiet and one could say whether it was because of fear for Darius or the inability to have a better plan but by looking at their faces, it was probably the second option.

One word passed through Althea and Noah's minds.

"Mindless"

Althea kept quiet out of boredom and not wanting to be involved in their problems while Noah, although still thinking it was still a dumb plan, decided to see how the team would handle each other and have each other's backs.

Many would think that this plan would backfire incredibly but they would have underestimated a human's greed and ability to strive for better living conditions and if that meant following Darius' brainless idea, they would abide by it to get a better rank.

Althea all this time was lost in her thoughts with one question standing out among all the rest that were lingering in her brain.

"Is the experimental unit in this District?"

There had been rumors that the Experimental unit would be coming to The military district to test for any mutations in the children.

" But rumors were just rumors" is what Althea kept repeating to calm her nerves.

The watches of the remaining teams glowed and gave off their opponent's names.

Noah gave a big sigh of relief as fortunately, he had not been paired with Rhett and at this moment he didn't know whether to hope he loses a match to avoid meeting or they lose their match although, in the end, it was inevitable. With his power, Noah was sure that Rhett would win and they would have to fight if Noah won this match, although those were the least of his problems as he would see the rumors that had been circulating with his own eyes, only not now.
