What could go bad

I was deep asleep but the constant knocking on my door won't stop. I tried neglecting it, thinking it was my neighbour who might want to ask for either pepper or salt to cook breakfast for her children before heading to school but this knock was different.

I unplugged the hands free and lazily walked to the door with the sole aim of screaming at Mama Nkechi not to disturb my sleep ever again. As I unlocked the door to release my Venom on her, I was shocked to see who was standing right in front of me.

"Aunty N….go..Zi… Good morning ma

What are you doing here?

Aunt Ngozi looked at me and smiled "Good morning Obim and happy birthday!

I was shocked beyond words. How did Aunt Ngozi know that today is my birthday?

Obim, Obim, Aunt Ngozi kept saying till she touched me and jolted me out of my deep thoughts.

Tha… Tha.. Thank you.. How did you know? I stammered while I scratched my head

See, Obim, enough of the questions. We need to get somewhere right now. So get dressed, put on your best cloth because I am taking you out for your birthday.

But Aunty, you know as I am now. I need to sell my bottle water today so I can pay my supplier by evening.

Obim, don't worry. Just be fast about it so we can be able to beat the Ikeja traffic. I will be waiting in my car outside. She said calmly and walked away.

Today is my birthday truly but I never knew Aunt Ngozi, one of my good customer will even remember, or even be the first person to wish me Happy Birthday.

I went back into my room, had a quick bath and put on a blue polo on a black Jean, then I put on one of the new Knickers I haven't worn at all.

Within 20 mins, I was through and I joined her in her car.

She was looking radiant and beautiful as usual and she was putting on her usual Scarf, just like Taooma, the comedian. I sat with her in the front sit and she began to drive.

Aunt Ngozi was my customer.. She often ply the Ikeja under bridge route everyday to her office and she buys bottle water from me every time she drives by. Some weeks later, we had another encounter when I was closing for the day. She had a flat tire and she couldn't get a nearby vulcanizer to help her out. I sighted her on the other side of the road and assisted her in changing her spare tire. From that day onward, she became my regular customer and most times, she leaves her change for me whenever she purchases bottle water from me. One particular Sunday, she invited me over to her Church The Lord's Chosen. She drove me back home after the service and since then she had been like a friend to me. Although, I cant deny the fact that I like her but who dash monkey banana? She was a boss of her own, Fly Grace travel agency. But who am I? A bloody hustler who sells bottle water in the traffic.

The constant horn blasting from several cars nearby jolted me back to reality and I later realised we were on the airport road and she was driving into the airport.

"Ha.. Aunty, are we going on an excursion?

She lowered the music that was blasting from her stereo and looked at me.

"Obim, its a surprise. Just wait till we get there.

She drove past the local airport and she kept driving, heading towards the international airport. Within minutes, she parked and brought out a bag pack, opened it and brought out 2 international passports then looked at me.

"Obim, I am taking you out for a special treat for your birthday.

"Aunt Ngozi, I don't understand. Treat as in how? I asked

"Obim, we are heading to Dubai for your birthday" She said.
