Game.

Two weeks later...

Ring! Ring!

Kaos rolled over, her slumber disturbed by the noise. She let out a low growl at the source of the incessant ringing and when it didn't stop, she grabbed the phone.

"Hello, Mr. Smith is not here" she grumbled into the phone.

"oh...I see" For some reason, a cold chill ran down her spine, waking her up fully. The person coughed a little "Then you must be Naga, I've heard so much about you...I wasn't expecting to see much less of talk to a decent of one of the oldest Civilizations...Tell me...which province are you from?" The man spoke fast and she almost didn't catch what he said because of the immense sense of dread that filled her.

She felt Dhara's hand graze over hers, taking the phone from her.

"Hello, Smith here..." he pulled her back to him when she started walking back to the bed. "yeah, that's her"

"I would love to examine her" he felt her stiffen against him and shook his head "... I don't think that's the best thing to do right now...maybe some other time, see you around, Wejah" She frowned at him.

"the name sounds familiar..." she mumbled.

"really?" he planted a kiss on her forehead "I don't think I've mentioned him to you before"

"no you have not..."she mused, leaning into his embrace. "nevermind then..." she relaxed, swallowing the dreadful lump at the back of her throat.

She felt a nudge at the back of her mind, it was one of the gods calling. She quickly excused herself.

"Hika, come forth" She commanded and he materialized in front of her. "Anything the matter?" She ran a hand through her hair.

"Mistress...we could not help but hear that name" Hika sounded terrified and looked like he was going to run at the tiniest sounds.

" wait a minute...you mean the man that called? Wejah?"

"Yes, Mistress...The rest of us suffered so much at his hands and maybe it was by luck that you did not meet him that day you rescued all of us from that damned place. Death and greed follows that man wherever he goes" he looked up at her, his expression read concern "Mistress, please be careful around that man..." he disappeared.

"he must have been so terrified of this Wejah character...I hope they are okay though. Why is it so hard to attain a peaceful state of mind on earth" She mused.

"coffee, goddess?" Dhara called from the kitchen, interrupting her thoughts

"Really?" her arms dropped to her sides comically. His giggles echoed.

"but that's what you are, no?" he hissed at the coffee pot when it spilled a little of it's content on his hand.

"you act just like a cat" shaking her head she blew on his hand lovingly. "it still amuses me how easily humans bruise"

"I know, right?...we act so strong but we are still so very fragile" he pulled her in, nestling his head on the crook of her neck. "I'm sorry, this isn't the peace and quiet you hoped for"

"you worry wort...For now, I enjoy the peace in your arms and the other one..."she buried her face in her palms when he roared back in laughter.

"is that your attempt to dirty talk?" he said in between laughs "it's very cute"

"Do not tease me! I am still taking all of this human stuff in... I find some very easy and some very complicated...like the need to show off wealth...it is very confusing and I think it's extremely vain too" she frowned.

"I see...don't worry, it will come easy soon enough but now... I'm very turned on and in the mood for some sexy hijinks" he snatched her cup, discarding it on the counter. Her eyes widened and she took off.

The doorbell interrupted the lovers before anything could happen. Dhara shuffled with his pants, stumbling along the way to answer the door. It was Neema at the door.

She looked different from the last time he saw her. Her hair for one was shorter, chopped off up to her chin, her brown hair was dyed black to the roots, she wore dark make up and looked angry.

"Neema?" he managed to say

"unless you're blind, why are you acting so surprised to see me" she pushed her way into the apartment. "tch! I can see i interrupted an abomination about to happen...why do you look so guilty?" she laughed as she reached for the fruits bowl on the table. Dhara watched in shock the fruits decay to dust under her adorned fingers. "oops" she giggled, walking back towards him

"what did you do to yourself Neema?" he stepped back.

"You" Kaos suddenly appeared in front of Dhara, releasing a small energy blast that forces Neema to put a distance between them "What are you doing here?" she snarled "what do you want, Inke?"

"That's Neema... remember?" it was obvious he was confused and nothing about what was happening now was making any sense to him. "Neema, what's going on"

"I came to take you back...you belong to me" she smiled and nothing about it seemed sweet. "remember, Dhara? How we made love that night...it was amazing...baby..." she made a beckoning motion with her hands and Dhara found himself moving without taking a step

"Do not move..." Kaos pulled him back "He does not belong to anyone but we belong to one another...i do not care what you say...that was before we met...so all of this is just a waste of time." She threw her hands sides in one swift motion and daggers materialized from them.

"Be honest with yourself, Dhara. Do you love this woman or you are with her out of fear for your life?" she raised her hands up in surrender and with a quick suave turn she disappeared.

"do not let what she said get to you...Inke likes to toy with people" she turned to face him

"I don't know who that is? That is not Neema and i sure as hell don't know who Inke is...is that another god?"

"Yes...one of the most dangerous gods we tend to avoid. Inke is the Jealous god, the patron of jilted lovers, merchants or thieves...once he sets his eyes on something and you want it too just forget about it...he always wins" her voice cracked as she spoke.

Dhara pulled her into a soft hug to ease her mind when he noticed she was trembling "what does he want with Neema then?"

"He is bored...she is hurting, a god is involved and you, a mortal imprinted on by a god...this is how he is and I am afraid he has just set us on a stage to play his game...Dhara, he just made his move"
