Star Wars Naboo SI 2

It had been a few years since my parents bought me my first junker spaceship to fix up to test my abilities, the light freighter, a ZH-40 Tribune, had been thankfully small enough to be stuffed in to my little shop, if barely, simply because it had already been largely increased in size due to my years of work and the needs to store a lot of things, so I had been able to still work in privacy.

It's currently 35 BBY about two years before the blockade if im not mistaken, and my father has already brought in several other small vessels, all sold for a fairly tidy profit. I'm pretty sure my parents knew something was different about me by now but seemed to just let it go, as some of the wrecks brought in should have probably been beyond repair by mortal means. I think Sal was probably testing my abilities.

By now my family was probably among the more well off on the planet, though we hadn't moved from our location, as it was ideal and we loved our home already. The only thing that really changed was that the garage was greatly expanded and enhanced as well as the home simply upgraded as it already worked well for us and we didn't tend to need any more than what we already had. The main addition was adding a landing pad so ships that are repaired and sold can be picked up from the comfort of home, my comfort that is.

It was amazing the profit you can make by buying a junker ship for 4,000-10,000 credits and then reselling it for around 25-80 thousand credits depending on the model. It tends to add up and those are still just really small ships or light freighters, our operation not able to really handle anything large without bringing more attention to myself than needed though I knew the time was coming, we already had a reputation for the quality of ships we resold, so we tended to get top credit or well up there in price as they were basically brand new ships.

We had to eventually start a corporation or company when we started buying and selling ships on the market, though that was fairly simple and the taxes on Naboo were low to encourage growth and prosperity for the people. I was definitely thankful for that now and more so when we started selling expensive starships.

Though being a corporation and having a license through the republic meant we could buy more heavily armed ships if we wanted as well as most types of battle droids to protect company assets, though you were limited to what you could obtain depending on the size of your company.

In essence if your company owned one or two freighters and a headquarters on some planet, you didn't 'need' a thousand battle droids for security measures. But if you owner a technical warship for escort and several freighters, the. You would have the ability to buy several times the number of droids. It's all in loopholes and horribly written laws most likely for the mega corporations.

Unfortunately we have neither warships yet nor do we run freighters at the moment but that will change soon I hope.

To be fair becoming fairly rich also had its perks as well, I did at the very least learn how to use a blaster fairly well and my family got invited to most of the functions on the planet and got to meet a lot of people, I kept running into a young Padme as well as a few of her hand maidens before they were even hand maidens such as Sabe and Eirtae which was interesting since they were all cute kids and I knew they would probably would grow to be beautiful women.

I'm not sure why we all kept running in to each other but they were friendly enough though I'm pretty sure our parents all somewhat knew each other and this could be considered 'play dates' of sorts. Kinda annoying but also appreciated at the same time.

I had got to know them fairly well and I would miss them when Padme was selected as queen and they her hand maidens, I'm not sure we would be able to see each other after that until during the invasion. Though that's questionable since our parents know each other.

I'm also pretty sure Padme will be elected princess of Naboo next year or the year after and queen the following. Oh well it doesn't really matter right now, right now I have to prepare my new ship, one that is greatly in need of repair, a really old XS Stock light freighter, it currently doesn't work, like at all. Even with my magic I will still need to update or replace everything, the only thing really salvageable with my power was the hull itself, which is in slightly poor shape but not out of my ability to fix, this would be a long term project, as much as a year perhaps but thankfully this shell of a ship only cost us 4 thousand credits, mostly being shipping costs.

I'm also more than thankful for the small army of repair and builder droids that I had managed to buy or repair over the years, they made the majority of the labor simple for the most part. I could just use my magic to fix the ship after we basically had to rip out pieces of equipment on occasion and then just have the droids reinstall the upgrades or replacement pieces while the astromechs did most of the rest. Thankfully there were droids for almost every occasion for my purposes.

I would most likely work on multiple ships at the same time, doing what I can while the droids move in behind me to reinstall systems and effect repairs that I'm far too lazy to do. All in all it would work out in the end.

I had also taken a shot at creating my own assistant droid based off the NT 600 that I somewhat remembered as being interesting from somewhere in the comics I think. It would also be my Astro navigation droid.

It took me a few weeks of tinkering and removing the droid brain to get what I wanted out of it, I removed its inhibitor chip so that it could learn better and serve more completely. I also gave it a voice that kind of reminded me of Rommie from Andromeda.

I also loved the fact that it could just float around as well, always thought that was cool as hell. I may have also named her Cortana simply for the hell of it. Oh well sue me.

A few months later

I eventually did tell my parents some of my plans to visit Tatooine for the coming up Boonta eve classic podrace that would be happening in a few months and to say they were unimpressed with my decision would be putting it mildly. Though most people that live on Naboo might be ignorant of the rest of the galaxy such as slavery still existing, my parents weren't. They tried to talk me out of it but I was pretty adamant and I wanted to experience and see things before canon picked up and began to pick the galaxy apart.

They eventually capitulated but ended up ordering a few a few security droids for my protection. They managed to get one IG-RM security droid with all its attachments and somehow managed to get an IG 86 which I didn't even think were really for sale. Other than that there were 8 customized GU Guardian series droids, more used as police but instead programmed as bodyguards therefore equipped to be slightly more lethal.

All the droids had both pistols and blaster rifles included in the purchase so they would be armed, though this did take a chunk out of our savings, almost costing as much as a good ship at 180,000 credits.

I may have altered them slightly even further, removing their limiter chips and adding runes that dispersed heat and as well as making them 'unbreakable' though that is a bit of a misnomer as it will break it just depends on how much magic is in either the runes or the charms as the deciding factor of when it will.

They were all also painted in matte black simply because I thought it was badass and that's all that matters. They should all arrive around the time that my ship is completed and also registered.

I also had to make sure I brought things with me that I could easily sell for quick peggats as well as exchanging currency for either plain gold or peggats before I leave for Tatooine, shouldn't be overly difficult.
