ThunderGod Dragons

He had one last month for preparation. Mission Assignment Competition will start next month.

Wei Ren left the Serpent Valley Sect. Other Sect disciples stared at him because of his tattered clothes as he hurried out. Lu Bing threw him out of the sect so abruptly that he didn't even get a chance to change his clothes.

He decided to head home first and meet his parents. But their estate was empty. The guards at the entrance told him that Emperor Yan and Feng Yu left two weeks ago. They didn't leave instructions for the guards and servants except a message for Wei Ren.

The guard handed Wei Ren a jade slip with Emperor Yan's insignia on it.

Inside the jade slip was a simple note.

"Your mother and I are going a small journey. We will back in a few weeks. Train hard and do your best in the Mission Assignment Competition. I tried to pursuade the Royal Elders to postpone it, but those old farts wanted to use the war as a test for you and your cousins. Nevertheless, I know you won't disappoint us. Stay safe and don't create too much trouble for Uncle Tian."

The note ended. But it didn't explain where went.

"So absurd. Where did the ran off to?" Wei Ren pondered while reading the note.

Since there was no reason for him to stay at home, he cleaned himself up, donned a new set of black robes and ate till he collapsed.

Cultivators don't need to eat but he loved food. Just because he could live without food doesn't mean he will live without it. He still cherished all the mortal things about himself. Sleeping and eating were something he would never forsake.

It would take him five days to reach the border if he travelled on a horse. But he didn't want to reach the border so early. There was still some time. He could probably concoct more Pill Potions and cultivate but there was little chance that he would experience a major breakthrough.

So he decided to focus on other things. He couldn't practice the Arcane Climate Art yet. But he could train in Thunder Walk. This was a evasion technique his mother gave him.

His attributes were clouds and lightning. So naturally he met the requirements of learning a thunder attribute technique.

He retrieved a small black book from his void ring. On the cover of the book there were crude golden letters. It looked like a child had engraved these words. It read 'Thunder Walk'.

Wei Ren opened the small book with excitement. His mother had explained that this evasion technique was not ordinary. Just basic mastery over this technique is very difficult but the benefits of mastering it vastly outweighed the efforts.

He opened it and started reading the contents. Thunder Walk is actually a Divine Art and not a simple footwork technique.

As he continued to read, his face underwent a myriad of expressions.

In the ancient times there were a legendary beats called ThunderGod Dragons. These dragons went extinct years ago but they left a deep impression on the history of mankind. ThunderGod Dragons had bodies made entirely out of thunder and lightning. They could turn themselves into bolts of thunder and fly at the speed of light. A young cultivator in those times had great luck as he managed to observe a ThunderGod Dragon and survived to tell the tale.

This young cultivator was enlightened by the ThunderGod Dragon's ability. He used his insights after observing the ThunderGod Dragon and ended up up creating a Divine Art called ThunderGod Steps.

This Divine Art allowed human cultivators to travel at the speed of light just like ThunderGod Dragons. The young cultivator became a powerhouse of the ancient times and reached the pinnacle of cultivation. No one was able to hurt him because of his incredible speed. But suddenly he passed on his Divine Art to his descendants and the disappeared. No one heard from him again.

Over the course of several eons, his Divine Art was lost. Only an abridged version of the legendary Divine Art was left. Thunder Walk was a remnant of the original Divine Art.

It only transformed a person's skin into thunder. Although it was still very effective, compared to the real deal, it was far too lacking.

Wei Ren was engrossed in the book as he finished reading the small story.

A problem presented itself to him. Training in Divine Arts is very difficult. Even an abridged version like Thunder Walk can be listed in the top ten Divine Arts of the present world.

Divine Arts are different from Magical Spells. For example, the Arcane Climate Art has six very powerful spells. A user needs to just use his qi to cast the spell. Although using Magical Spells requires a lot of practice, it was still just a spell. Once you master it you can use it as many times as you want without any problems but a Divine Art on the other hand was more complex.

When a person uses a Divine Art, their body undergoes several transformations. Using the Thunder Walk requires a person to change their skin into a thin layer of thunder. Once, a person manages to do so, they can travel at incredibly fast speed. But maintaining this transformation is not so easy.

The young cultivator from the ancient times was able to completely tranform into a bolt of lightning. Such an unimaginable feat is not so simple to copy.

There are some Divine Arts that can change a person's body into metal. All physical attacks will become useless against such a person will become absolutely useless.

Moreover, Divine Arts can be used without Elemental Qi, the only way to learn them is by practicing for long painstaking years. A Transformation in one's body is very hard to accomplish.

There are too many restrictions placed on the body when using a Divine Art.

Thunder Walk had only three stages, namely - ThunderWolf, ThunderBird and ThunderGod.

The idea behind the execution was very simple.. He couldn't just start training in the Thunder Walk Divine Art right way. He had to follow some steps written in the Divine Art

Divine Arts can be used if one has the certain attribute. A person with Fire Attribute cannot learn Thunder Walk. He can train in other famous Divine Arts like 'Fire Spirit Footwork' or the 'Nine Heaven Phoenix Wings'.

He drew some of his blood into a small jade bottle. Then he drew a ThinderWolf Symbol with his blood onto his chest as shown in the book. He must use this symbol for using this Art.

When he finished drawing the ThunderWolf symbol, small bolts of white lightning started appearing on the lines of the blood symbol. Soon a ThinderWolf made of bolts of lightning formed on his chest.

Pain invaded every part of his body. He could feel the bolts of lightning entering his blood stream and his organs from the Blood Symbol. The symbol was engraving itself onto his skin.

His Thunder Attribute was waking up and taking action. Since his Elemental Qi had the thunder attribute, it was also stirred and the process of engraving became even more painful. If he didn't have this attribute in his Qi, nothing would have happened.

Three hours later, the transformation stopped. He was drenched in sweat and blood. The ThunderWolf Blood Symbol faded into his skin and became a part of his body. A faint image of the symbol remained.

He tried to feel his body but there was nothing new. The agonizing pain was gone leaving no effects.

"What now?" He thought. He opened the book again and turned pages, looking for an answer.

"Nothing helpful. It just says that I have to awaken the ThunderWolf Blood Symbol every time I want to use the Divine Art. But how do I awaken it?"

He sat down cross legged and tried to awaken the Blood Symbol on his chest. He focused his mind on his chest.

Two hours passed. There was no change in his body. He decided to give up for now. He needed an insight for awakening the Blood Symbol.

Just as he was about to get up…

Rumble!

Faint white thunderbolts rushed out of his body. His body launched into the air. His head clashed into the ceiling of his room. A tingly sensation was coming out of his chest area and seeping into every other part of his body.

"It worked!" He exclaimed. He felt the transformation inside his body. It was like he was wearing a thin cloth made out of thunderbolts. The thunderbolts didn't hurt him at all. His muscles and his body sped up beyond belief. He immediately fell in love with this new ability.

"I must have accidentally awakened the blood symbol while getting up." He squealed with excitement with his head stuck in the ceiling.
