Li Chong Visits

The sole purpose of Alchemy is to turn something useless into a miraculous medicine. Herbs, grasses, even leaves of trees can be concocted into pills that can save lives in dire situations.

Lu Sheng told Wei Ren about this on his first day at the Rescue and Support Infantry.

Plants lose their medicinal power during concoction. Someone who can protect the entire medicinal power of a plant and make a pill with hundred percent potency is worthy to be called a Grandmaster of Alchemy.

Even Lu Sheng wouldn't dare to call himself a Grandmaster. This shows how difficult this job truly is.

Wei Ren was able to make Pill Potions with 80 percent potency. This meant he was able to retain only eighty percent of the potency. Normal pills also have 90 percent potency at most. Lu Sheng can also make only pills with 90 percent potency.

The remaining ten percent is the hardest bottleneck every Alchemist faces,

Wei Ren also faced this same bottleneck but in a different way. He didn't have to focus on making a Pill. He just had to increase the potency of his Pill Potions.

Three months have passed since he joined the Rescue and Support Infantry. Not many things happened. It was exactly as he had expected, boring.

Since he was the youngest and the person with the least status, he was given the most rudimentary jobs.

This was already expected. Lower level soldiers always have the most menial jobs. He had to make twenty Pill Potions every day. Li Jian instructed him on this job. He truly was the leader of their pack. Bai Jing just acted like a bystander. He complied with everything Li Jian said even though he was the elder disciple.

The first time he delivered the twenty Pill Potions, he shocked all of them. Mei Rong and Li Jian were the ones who were shocked the most. Wei Ren noticed that Bai Jing and Bai Quimei showed a similar shock but there was something suspicious about them when he showed them his Pill Potions. They didn't react the same way as other people. His suspicion of this pair of siblings deepened even more.

He expected a very miserable life because of Mei Rong's presence but everything that happened was contrary to his expectations.

Battles started again. Golden Crow Kingdom also increased the use of their mysterious venom. More and more soldiers were dropping unconscious and a larger number of them were also getting injured on the battlefield. This caused the Rescue and Support Infantry to be always busy. A part of the Siege and Capture Infantry was moved into the Rescue and Support Infantry because there was a lack of manpower. Reinforcements were sent everyday with hundreds of Pills and Pill Potions. Soldiers on the battlefield need Qi Replenishing Pills and Recuperation Pills. A constant supply of these kinds of pills was maintained on schedule.

Mei Rong, Li Jian and the Bai siblings worked constantly and we're never free.

Wei Ren also observed them. Ninety percent of his day was spent on making the Pill Potions. Since he never failed a concoction, he was able to save a portion of the day for himself. He spent the remaining day on his cultivation. He was able to make the thirty-seventh meridian after three months. Just three meridians away from mastering the Third Stage of Earth Law and step onto the fourth stage.

But this little progress made him gloat even more. Compared to his speed of cultivation, he was at a ridiculously slow pace.

His spar with Wei Tian woke him up. He was still a chicken compared to powerful cultivators. So he worked in silence and waited for his chance to shine.

His mind was racing. He thought of ideas to convince Wei Tian to let him join another infantry.

Wei Yu joined the Heavy Armoured Infantry. This infantry was the most important offensive force of their army. They spent all their time on the battlefield. This was the most dangerous job in the whole army. A lot of the youngsters who were taking part in the Mission Assignment Competition wanted to join this infantry. But the Two Royal Elders didn't allow too many of them to enter the mount of the dragon.

Because of his accomplishments, Wei Yu's battle credit went up as soon as he joined the army. Everyday battles earned him a lot of battle credit. Ever since he learned that Wei Ren could now cultivate, he dived deep into the struggles and fights to protect his spot. He was scared out of his wits by the image of Wei Ren stealing his throne. After all, as a cultivator, Wei Ren might be able to win the bet. He just had to get half as much battle credit as Wei Yu to win the wager. So Wei Yu had to work twice as much to save his face.

Not only him, even Wei Chen and Wei Qing almost reached Wei Ren's score. His contributions were too menial so he was not earning enough. This way he would definitely lose his bet with Wei Yu. But Wei Yu didn't know this.

Worst part of the Mission Assignment Competition was that they would get to know the final score on the final day of competition. Until then, all of them have to live in doubt.

Naturally, Wei Ren wanted more responsibilities but Wei Tian made it impossible for him.

He walked out of his room with a gloomy face. He wore the military's black uniform with a Blue Rose pin on his chest. There was a small box in his hand. These were today's Pill Potions. He was going to deliver them to Li Jian.

His journey was short. Everyday he met Li Jian and the other three. It was always a small conversation. Sometimes he just shared a few pleasantries before leaving. All four of them were always busy. Healing soldiers was a very important job. They had to be fast and prioritise their actions. Talking was the last on their list.

He quietly walked in the hallways of the building. Only his footsteps could be heard.

Crunch!

As he walked, he suddenly heard a cracking sound because stepped on something.

It was frost!

There was a green coloured frost on the floor of the dark hallway.

"When did this…?" Wei Ren thought to himself in shock. He reflexively awakened the ThunderWolf Blood Symbol. Ready to escape. For some reason, a deep sense of danger pervaded deep into his body. His senses were telling him to escape from this place as fast as he could.

His senses were ten times stronger than when he was a mortal. Even the sound of the flapping of wings of an insect hundred meters away was not able to escape his hearing. Most importantly, he didn't feel any changes in the Elemental Qi in the air.

Every time a Magical Spell is cast, the Elemental Qi in the air is also set into motion. He didn't feel any such disturbance. So where did this frost come from?

"I am delighted to see that your ailment has been cured, young master Wei." An eerie voice entered his ears and sent a shiver down his spine.

He was hearing this voice after many years, but he was still able to identify the speaker.

"Li Chong." He said in his heart with shock.
