Chapter (Two hundred) Twenty Two: She knows

The room was crumbling around them, shattering everything within. It was difficult to drag air into her lungs. Everything hurt. Her eyes stung with a fresh wave of tears and her chest ached. But nothing hurt her more than the look in Johnny's eyes, the sheer agony that dwelled in them. Agony that Navaya now knew he had to live with for years.

She averted her gaze. All this time she had thought he broke her trust, that he picked another woman over her. Now she could barely look at him, she didn't want to see her pain reflected back at her.

Navaya wasn't sure what Johnny saw in her face but he was in front of her the next moment, holding her. She felt like glass seconds from shattering and perhaps he thought his efforts would keep her whole for a while longer.
