Immortal Legacy

BingYi opened his eyes as he slowly came out of his trance. It has been a year since he entered seclusion. He could feel that his cultivation had finally stabilized.

The final tribulation was quite brutal. When the gold tinged lightning bolt struck, for a moment, BingYi thought he would fail. But he managed to endure and received the baptism of the heavens. After this there would no longer be tribulations or trials. He was finally free.

BingYi pointed a finger towards the cave wall, white light flashed and within a breath a beautiful script was etched on its surface.

I, BingYi, cultivated within this place after succeeding my final tribulation. If you manage to enter that means you and I are fated. Accept this small token and my legacy. From today you could be considered as my first and only disciple. I bid you a good journey on your path towards immortality.

This manner of passing down a legacy and accepting a disciple might seem careless but it was the best way BingYi could think of and the only way he was willing to do things. He's been a solitary creature all his life and was unwilling to change his ways.

BingYi lightly waved his hand. A spherical object and a jade slip flew out from his sleeve and softly landed on the stone altar.

The unassuming ball is the neidan of a 6-star water attribute beast that once terrorized the endless seas and claimed thousands of lives.

The jade slip contained a sliver of BingYi's insight and a record of his accumulated experiences. It's a manual of a perfected cultivation technique specifically designed for beasts that BingYi elected to name Immortal Bestial Evolution Law.

Immortal Bestial Evolution Law is a technique that would allow a low tier beast to evolve to a high tier beast by consuming beast cores. It may sound unpleasant and extremely savage but the technique has stringent prerequisites before it could be practiced and strict requirements in choosing and consuming beast cores. Learning the technique is simple but cultivating it requires dedication and a bit of luck.

BingYi was born as a rare mythical beast but because of his tainted blood his cultivation was below average. He was born sentient and was blessed with high-level comprehension but cursed with a weak body. And when he embarked on the path of cultivation his road had not been smooth.

Cultivation of humans and beasts are different. Human cultivation was developed and polished by countless immortals. Numerous techniques were passed down, sects were built and legacies were scattered that gave the later generations an edge and a broader sense of the path. This cycle helped build a solid foundation and eased their way towards immortality.

But the cultivation for beasts could be summarized in one word: crude.

Beasts are naturally selfish. There was no record to speak of in regards to cultivation. Beasts who learned how to cultivate were more focused in strengthening themselves rather than guiding the next generation.

BingYi could be considered a trailblazer, a founder, but he would never refer to himself as one.

The things within the cave dwelling were treasures he acquired through the years. It was not much but it was enough to help his successor have a chance at ascending.

After making sure that everything was in order, BingYi slowly stood up and walked out of the cave dwelling. What greeted him outside was a scenery of rolling flower fields, tall mountains and rivers.

The island he picked for his tribulation was once devoid of life. After he passed the final tribulation, the divine rain came and nurtured the barren land. The once desolate place transformed into an island paradise.

BingYi carefully tossed five flags and erected a layered formation around the cave dwelling. Breaking the formation would be the trial for his successor. After all, he cannot hand out things for free.

The end… or is it?
