"I will accompany you. You will definitely need my help." Britney held Darren's arm as if she didn't want to let go. Darren stretched his neck left and right.
"Britney, I'm not kidding. You come home or I'll have someone force you home." Darren said with restrained emotion.
"Why are you here? I've worked hard to come here. Instead of respecting me, instead kicked me out. Or maybe you are hiding something from me?" Britney knitted her brows and looked suspiciously at Darren who was silent, reluctant to respond.
"Britney, I've told you many times, our relationship has ended since you got married. So please, don't ever interfere in my life again. You take care of your husband and I take care of mine. Got it?" Darren finally reached the limit of his patience. Calista needs her in the room but this woman from her past can never let her go.
"But Darren ..." Darren who didn't care anymore, left Britney alone and headed for the room where Calista was being treated. Britney clenched her fists and clenched her jaw. Darren had never behaved like this. There must be another woman in his heart. The woman from Darren's past followed him quietly.
Darren sees the doctor who treats Calista.
"Your wife is fine. She only has bruises on her knees and elbows due to friction with the asphalt. The wound on the tip of her lip is thought to have been caused by a blunt object. For more details, you can ask your wife when she wakes up." The doctor on duty that night explained some important points to Darren as he stood up.
Darren who heard it could only be silent without saying a word.
"Okay, thanks doc. When will she be able to come home?" Darren felt the atmosphere at home was more comfortable than in the hospital.
"Once your wife wakes up, you can take her home." The doctor answered again. The doctor walked away leaving Darren who was still standing still.
After a while, he went inside to meet Calista who was still unconscious from her stupor.
"Ugh, where is this? My head hurts so bad." Calista held her head which felt heavy. She touched her forehead for plaster, on her hands and feet there were traces of red medicine that had dried up.
"How? Where do you feel hurts?" Darren's sudden voice startled Calista who had not fully realized.
"You? How did you get here?" Calista furrowed her brows looking at Darren who walked over to the bed where she was lying.
"Do I have to be with you 24 hours a day so that nothing happens to you, hmm?" Calista felt Darren's face was too close so she tilted her head back slightly.
"I… just wanted to go shopping for my mum and dad. I-I… didn't know it was going to be like this." Calista stared at the green eyes for a moment then turned her face to the side.
"Who kidnapped you? Do you know them?" Darren asked without turning his face away from Calista. Even Darren's breath could be felt brushing Calista's face. It made her skin tingle a little.
"She ..."
"Darren, it turns out you're here. Wow, who's sick?" The sentence that was about to come out of Calista's mouth was cut off by the presence of her husband's boyfriend. Yes, the woman may not know that her boyfriend is already someone's husband. And that person was lying here, in front of her.
Calista looked at Britney blankly, a little disappointed, but immediately threw her away. After all, she and Darren are not husband and wife who love each other. Calista and Darren are just husband and wife who are bound by a marriage contract. So Calista didn't feel entitled to be jealous or whatever.
Calista forced a smile on the girl.
Darren straightened and looked at Calista with disapproval. He doesn't like it because he doesn't seem to care about her who has gone to great lengths to save him. In fact, Calista actually wanted to save his status as an unmarried man, according to the contents of the contract.
"Honey, she's your secretary right? Why is she here? Where's her boyfriend or her family?" Britney looked around looking for people who might approach the woman lying weakly.
"Her husband brought her here." Darren answered stiffly.
"Husband? Oh you already have a husband? I thought you were single." Britney's lips seemed to break into a wide and bright smile. It was as bright as she had hoped because the woman she thought would take Darren, had already become someone's wife.
"Yes, earlier ... my husband brought here." Calista replied while biting her lip, a habit she does when lying or nervous. Darren saw that and didn't like it when his contract wife bit her lip because it would be tantamount to provoking him to bite the lips of this beautiful woman.
"Now where is your husband?" asked Britney again.
"He... he just came out. Anyway, thank you for visiting me. You can see that I'm fine." Once again Calista lied and bit her lip while closing her eyes. Forgive me for lying, Lord. Calista's mind screamed.
"Then, let's go home first, okay? You take me home or you take me to your mansion Darren. You haven't taken me there since the mansion was completed." Britney sulked with a spoiled voice and lips made to seem sexy.
Calista pretended to be indifferent by observing the wounds on her elbows and knees. She didn't want to see the intimacy between her contract husband and her boyfriend. Just as her finger touched her knee, her lips hissed in pain, and Darren's voice immediately furrowed his brows.
"Britney, you go home first. I have to meet her husband first." Darren clenched his jaw when he saw Calista struggling to reach the glass to drink on the nightstand next to her.
"But ...."
"Come back!" Darren was forced to give the stubborn Britney a death glare. Britney stomped one foot on the floor and walked roughly away from Darren.
"You sure you can be alone here, hmm?" Darren asked with his devilish grin.
"Sure or not sure, you have to be sure. I can't rely on other people, especially on a husband who is carrying his girlfriend." Calista answered in a flat and expressionless tone.
She temporarily shook off the urge to drink because she couldn't reach the glass that was too far away for her.
"Huh, never expect more than the contents of the contract. Because you are just a wife needed to give birth to my offspring, not to accompany me for the rest of my life." Darren answered bluntly. For some reason, his chest felt tight after saying it.
"I know. After I give birth to your 3 children, I will go away from you and I will not remember you." Calista's words were slow, able to make Darren clench his fists that were tucked into his pants pockets. Darren sighed trying to control his pent-up emotions.
"Good if you don't forget! Andrew will be here in a minute. Go home with him." Darren brought the drinking glass closer to Calista's reach and immediately left the injured woman alone.
Calista looked at the glass next to her with a frown. Suddenly her tears fell and became heavier until Calista buried her face in the pillow so that the people around here wouldn't hear.
