251 – Undercurrents

"All right, I'll be careful," Fang said in a comforting tone. "But truly, Ren, I am perfectly fine. And your healing magic works fully on me, too – so that part of your nightmare was wrong."

Ren hesitated. "Actually, there may be a valid point there," he murmured. "As of now, I'm able to heal you because you have light magic as well as dark magic, and my magic is more powerful overall. But if your dark magic overloads, I'm not sure what I could do…"

Fang chuckled. "Your magic will always be more powerful than mine, so don't worry," he said. "Come on, now, I'm sleepy, let's go back to sleep."

Fang pulled Ren close and hugged him to sleep – and Ren, naturally, let him do so. The best remedy for his nightmare was, after all, the perfectly fine young man next to him!

The next day was the day of the cancelled meeting with Professor Luke.

"You guys aren't meeting him at the new restaurant of Sirocco, right?" Pax asked at the breakfast table.
