Chapter 34

"I am so sorry!"

"It's fine." Arien looked her up and down. "You dressed up for the evening."

"She wouldn't have let me out if I hadn't." she said grumpily.

"Why are you grumpy? You look pretty."

"Not funny."

Arien turned to Yui. "What's your name?"

"Yui."

"That's a cute name."

"Thank you." She replied politely.

Yui was a little . . . of course, Arien's new to her. It will take some time for her to get used to it.

"Is your favourite color purple?"

Yui eyeballed him before answering. "Yes . . ."

"Don't be scared!" he apologized. "You wore all purple today. Light purple top, dark purple leggings. I'm not creepy."

Yui smiled. "Yeah, I like purple." She said quietly and pointed to her hair clip. "This is purple too!"

"Cool!"

"Where do you want to go, Yui?" Halle asked.

"Amusement park."

"No."

"Why?" Yui whined.

"Morning is the best time to go to an amusement park. You'll have an entire day to try out all the rides." explained Halle. "And we wouldn't want to tire Uncle Arien out right?"

"Fine." Yui mumbled.

"Uncle?" Arien was surprised. "I'm not old enough to be called uncle."

Halle turned to him completely serious. "How old are you?"

"Twenty seven."

"You're older than me and she calls me Aunt Halle." Halle said coolly.

"You're an aunt?"

"Yep."

"It's still not fair!" said Arien and turned to Yui. "Yui, call me Arien."

"Uncle Arien." Yui giggled.

"You spoiled her." said Arien. "I feel old when you call me Uncle."

"Don't care." said Halle. "Any other place you want to go?"

Yui thought for a moment. "Shopping mall?"

Halle looked at the time. "Sure, we can go there."

"Yay!" Yui jumped up and down.

Halle smiled. "You're okay with it right?"

Arien nodded. "Why not?"

Arien opened the door to his car. Yui chose shotgun. Halle sat behind. Yui looked out the car window and stared at all the buildings and trees in awe. She sure loved car rides. Halle looked out the window herself and let the sun bask her face. It was so . . . peaceful. For a moment, she could forget all the current problems. Maybe she should bury all of them down and enjoy until this got over.
