These women are all Cattivo women. But they decide on NOT claiming that last name due to Stronzo Cattivo being an awful man. They then claim Mariaisabella's (deceased) aunt's name.

They are in Italy. Milan is a real place in Italy. So they are just traveling from Rome to Milan. This is set in between the Romantic and Victorian Era. So they do not have the privileges we women have today (even though there is still stigma between all sexes). The government is the Kingdom of Italy. So it is a monarchy.

This also means that every Italian area has a council. The council is aristocrats (like Stronzo). Their job (in this story) is to tax their people and send the money to the monarchy. Even though they do this, it will only be on a monthly percentage.
