"Hey!" Andrew shook my arm.
"Sorry, you were saying?" I asked as I snapped out of my daydream. Crap, now I can't get Kevin out of my head! This is so bad.
"I'm asking, what do you think about the recent case?" Andrew asked, looking at me a bit confused.
"R-right. Well, I talked to Kevin this morning, and he told me that his sister was found in the same circumstance as Alexandra." I said and pulled out a file from the app. Good thing this app has higher clearance, so I don't exactly need to confront Kevin with it.
"So. Are we dealing with two different people?" Andrew asked while scanning through the photos.
"Maybe, both Angela and Alexandra had their organs harvested. It's probably sold in the black market. Whoever is doing this have deep connections, that's for sure." I said and tapped at some of the photos.
"You know. Somehow, you are very different from Zamira." Andrew suddenly said as he leaned close to me. Like he's studying how I would react.
"What do you mean?" I asked. I almost memorized Zamira's file of what she can do, but I have zero clues about how she actually acts or her character. I can imagine, of course, but what makes Mira different from Zamira?
"Nah. Never mind. Maybe I'm not just used to seeing you like this." Andrew leaned back on his chair and scanned the files again.
"What?" I asked. My brows are already arched up in confusion, but Andrew just waved me off. Weird. What does Andrew mean? Maybe he'll tell me soon.
We discussed a few more things before we bade goodbye. I went back to the station, and Kevin was in front of the station waiting for me.
"Ready?" Kevin asked and smiled gently.
"Yeah," I replied as he opened the car door for me. Why the hell do I feel butterflies in my stomach. I can feel a blush coming, so I let down my hair to hide my face. This is embarrassing. Ugh! I hope he didn't see it.
The drive was again quiet. I guess we're both thinking about the same thing, but we really don't want to bring it up.
"Hey, before I forget. We'll pick up Chance and eat dinner at Ross." Kevin said and turned his head to look at me.
"Hmm? Sure. I heard Ross serves the best steak in town." I mumbled. I wanted to sound excited, but I think it failed.
"You don't sound excited at all," Kevin said and tucked a lock of hair behind my ear. "Are you okay?" He asked worriedly.
"Yeah. Maybe I got tired reading." I replied and looked out the window. I can't actually get my head out of the case. Are we dealing with two culprits or just one twisted killer?
I was so lost in thought, I didn't even notice Chance get in the car.
"Yo! Mari! What are you thinking right now?" Chance said, being his usual hyper self.
"Nothing," I replied plainly.
"Oh, c'mon. You look like you have a lot in mind," he asked. If only I could tell them what I'm doing.
"I brought her to the old cemetery," Kevin said. I looked at him, a bit confused. Why bring that up?
"Oh," Chance wasn't able to say anything after that.
"Yeah," Kevin said, and just like that, the subject dropped.

We found a seat at Ross and gave our order. As we were waiting for the order to arrive, I busied myself by looking at the window. Studying every person's appearance, looking at the model of cars that pass through the street, and detailing every item that I see.
The boys were busy talking about Alexandra and how sad it was. The whole town is not happy about it-- if I'm being honest. A small town like this can feel the impact of someone passing. The family is grieving, and the culprit is still out there.
Someone in this town has harvested that poor girl's organs. I can imagine everyone being on edge right now. After all, no one wants to accept that someone in the community is a killer. That would break their hearts.
"Mari! Earth to Mari!" A wave of a hand in front of me and snapped me into reality. It was Chance getting my attention.
"Sorry. What?" I asked. I have so many things in mind, I keep on spacing out...sigh.
"You better eat. You keep on spacing out." Chance teased and smiled. I smiled back and saw his eye land on my bandaged hand. "Does it still hurt?" he then asked.
I shrugged and looked at my bandage. "It's fine," I replied and went ahead to eat. Chance nodded and went back to eating his steak.
Kevin was quiet, but I can feel his eyes on me. What's he thinking? The kiss we shared flashed through my mind, and I tried my best not to smile. Gosh, Mari! What are you? High school?
After drinking some wine, Kevin finally spoke.
"Mari...Zamira...do you recall anything about your accident?" Kevin suddenly asked. I was taken by surprise since I wasn't expecting to have this conversation.
"Hmmm, all I remember about that night is walking in the alleyway. It was dark. So I brought out my phone and-- nothing." I responded. It's been a month, and that's the only thing I can come up with. Aside from what Andrew told me about what actually transpired that night, I have no recollection.
"Kevin, why are you asking?" Chance asked and looked at Kevin curiously. Kevin leaned forward the table. So I leaned forward to listen to what he's going to say.
"We're verifying some leads. I can't say much about the case. But since we all live together, I might as well tell you. Someone might have seen you get attacked." Kevin almost whispered to us. Chance and I exchanged a shocked expression.
"Isn't that good news? You look like it's not good news," I said as I looked at Kevin's expression.
"The person who saw the attack was Alexandra. She told her brother that she saw what happened to you that night. She was about to tell him who she saw, but she went missing." Kevin said in a low voice.
I felt my heart sink to the floor. Oh my, Alexandra died because she saw the culprit. But why harvest her organs? Was I supposed to be the victim of organ harvest? I closed my eyes as I felt lightheaded.
"C-can we go home? I don't feel well." I said and looked at them. They nodded in agreement. It's a long day. With all this information in my head, I think I need to rest.
When we got home, I immediately bade them goodnight and went straight to my room. I'm too tired for a conversation right now. A long hot shower helped me relax my tensed muscles. I slipped into my covers, trying not to think about the turn of events.
Now, I feel bad for Alexandra more than ever! If she saw who it was, why not tell me when she went to the café? We always had small chats. Maybe she mentioned a clue, but I didn't notice it?
I opened the app and messaged Andrew about what I have found out.
[Za~ I'm worried about you. If this keeps on going, who knows what will happen. What if you are now his ultimate target? I can't let that happen.]
I was about to reply when--
*CRASH*
A big stone smacked into my window. I immediately jumped out of my bed and looked out.
[Close the app!]
Seeing his message, I closed the app immediately. He must've been watching from afar. I almost jumped when my door was busted open.
"MARI!" Kevin enters my room, his pistol drawn. Chance was running behind him.
"WHAT HAPPENED? I heard a crash?! Are you okay?!" He asked and looked around the room. I managed to nod.
His eyes landed on the stone on my floor. He carefully picked it up and saw that it was a stone covered with a piece of paper with my face in it.
[[DIE!!]]
Written in red.
The stone itself was smeared with dry brown-ish material. Paint? No...blood...
I sat back in my bed. Chance sat next to me and rubbed my back. Kevin immediately called the station to get things cleared.
I laid on the couch as the police gathered pieces of evidence and looked at the CCTV installed. Unfortunately, they got nothing. I can hear Kevin groan in frustration. Chance is in the kitchen helping out.
I'm too tired, but I still gave my statement, and thankfully, the police left me alone after an hour or so. It's already two in the morning, the police are bustling around. I guess I can get a shut-eye here on the couch? I finally closed my eyes and managed to sleep despite the noise around me.
I don't know how long I slept on the couch, but the next thing I know is a pair of strong, muscular arms carefully lifted me up and walked silently upstairs. I didn't dare move nor open my eyes to see who it is. Is this Kevin or Chance? They both have nice bodies, and I have never really paid much attention to their build. We reached a bedroom that I'm sure isn't the one I'm staying in. He tucked me in and kissed my forehead.
"Good night, Zamira." aah~ it's Kevin.
I felt my insides somersault. God...Am I developing feelings for him?
