"What kind of question is that?" Kevin asked, quite offended. Of course, who wouldn't be?

I couldn't tell Kevin that Chance might be involved. If Jason suspects Chance... Jason might be Chance's next target. I won't let that happen. I have to tread lightly from now on.

"Well..."

"Did Jason say something? Are you doubting me?" Kevin asked before I can give an answer, his hands almost crumpled the paper he's holding.

"Jason gave me this." I handed over Alexandra's phone hoping that it would change the subject.

"Where'd he find this? We only tracked it near the park but we hit a dead end," Kevin eyed me suspiciously.

"Phone tracker? It's a trend recently right?" I said and looked at the phone. I can barely see the logos on the screen but it turns on. I opened the laptop Andrew gave me at the station and started figuring out my way through the system according to the manual from Andrew.

"Let me try something..." I said and retrieved the phone from the table and connected it to the laptop.

Files upon files started to pop into the screen. Kevin sat on the floor next to me looking at what I was doing. I felt like a pro working but in reality, I'm shaking... what if I can't get my memories back and I'm stuck as Mari? It scares me...

I sighed and looked at the laptop screen covered with files. It might take me a day to go through them but I am determined.

"You didn't answer my question," Kevin whispered into my ear, making me back away a little.

"Huh, what?" I asked...

"Where did Jason find this?" Kevin asked while pointing at the phone.

"He found it... near the cafe..." I answered almost in a whisper.

"That's why you were asking if you can trust me?" He asked, I nodded but I didn't dare look in his direction.

He sighed..."Since this is an official investigation, then I can't actually tell Chance anything. Don't worry, I won't tell him." he replied and pats my shoulder.

I looked at him and I saw his sincerity.

"Okay then, if that's the case, I should start working. The sooner we close this case, the better." I replied and gave him a small smile.

"Do you want to eat something? I mean, if you're going to pull an all-nighter, you should at least have something." Kevin asked...

"Nah. I'm good," I replied and looked at the screen to start going through Alexandra's messages, emails, and photos.

I can feel Kevin stare at me from time to time but I didn't mind. He might be upset about the trust issue I have been having.

*BUZZZ*BUZZZ*BUZZZ*

"Yes, Mr. Hayes?" I asked as I picked up the phone.

[Za~ are you in Kevin's apartment right now?]

"Yep. Do you need to talk to him?" I asked and looked at Kevin, his eyes are closed... maybe he's resting for a bit.

[Not really. Anyway, were you able to use the laptop? I was worried you'd find it difficult]

Did he just tease me???

"Seriously? I read the manual at the station." I replied and while looking at the screen.

[By the way, Kevin already inserted your file into the case so you can see their findings of the contents of the bag. I've been meaning to ask you this... why do you have a disposable phone? IIO phones are all encrypted.]

"Hmmm.... good question. Hold on let me pull up the file," opening the file I looked at the findings... the phone looks ordinary and there's nothing in it. Like it's brand new. Why did I buy it? Is it mine?

[Anything?]

"It looks new. Why buy a phone if my phone is encrypted?" I asked both Andrew and myself.

[Yes, it is encrypted. Anonymous numbers can't contact you directly, you have to contact them first. And if your phone gets stolen or broken, it has a self-destruct mechanism that will erase everything.]

"So that's why there's nothing here," I said and sighed heavily. "I need this brain to work..."

[Take a rest. We'll get over this tomorrow at the station. By the way, I have a new phone for you, it's in the bag with the laptop, use that. It's encrypted.]

Hmmm. His voice sounds bothered...

"You're afraid someone's tapping to my phone?" I asked him directly.

[Sharp as ever. Yes, it might be. Although my calls and the app are encrypted, we should make sure.]

"Okay. Anyway, I'm working so don't bother me," I jokingly said, he chuckled and bade goodbye.

I went straight to work and sifted through every email, text, and image that was retrieved from Alexandra's phone.

Chat messages between her and Jason... Jason must've been so worried when he didn't hear his sister. All things considered, he blindly trusted me in solving this case. I will do whatever it takes to get this man and bring justice to Alexandra, and maybe my memories?

I was so engrossed with what I'm doing--

"How long are you going to ignore me?" He finally spoke I didn't even notice him!

"Sorry... I wasn't ignoring you. I didn't notice you." I replied he's way too close.

"I made you coffee," he said and pointed at a mug next to some papers.

"Oh, thanks." I took a sip and wrapped my almost numb hands around the mug for warmth.

"Do you feel cold?" He asked and moved a bit closer to me.

"I'm fine. Thanks for the coffee." I smiled at him and began working again.

A few moments later...

Kevin's head leans into my shoulder. I looked at his profile... he's so peaceful when he's sleeping.

I gently shifted my position so that it won't strain his neck.

"Zamira..." he whispered under his breath...

"Oh, you're awake? You should go to sleep in your room. You'll get a stiff neck if you sleep like this." I whispered back.

"I'm fine... Zamira... I think... I think I --"

[UGH! GET AWAY FROM ME! HE--]

A video I clicked suddenly interrupts Kevin's sentence... he was surprised as I am... It's a video...

No not just a video...

THE EVIDENCE!

It's the night I got attacked!
