The three stood on the unusually large deck of the boat, while Sapphire cracked her knuckles, which Dominic copied. Lainey also gave an attempt, but couldn't.
"Count of three, how about it?" Sapphire bellowed. "Three, two, one!"
As soon as that 'one' came out, she launched forward into the middle of the three. Lainey immediately seemed freaked out, Ulrich rapidly shook his left hand in an attempt to get something to come out, while Dominic just ran towards her with her axe. Sapphire merely thrusted her right hand out, and Dominic was blown back by a gust of wind, while he was still clutching his axe and putting it in front of his face in a vain attempt to stop the wind. Sapphire lunged forwards towards Dominic, only to be almost caught in a string of fire, which she had to step back from, pinching a stray flame from the end of her hair.
She turned her head towards Ulrich, slowly walking up to him, and ducking under his flame infused fist. Darting around him at a rapid pace, flashing extravagant poses the entire time, seemingly taking joy in watching Ulrich slowly get frustrated. And when he seemed to boil over, he angrily swiped forward with a flame covered hand, and as if she teleported, she appeared behind him.
"Rule one, solar! You gotta prepare for anything!"
Ulrich tried once again to turn around and shield his body, and then felt his body move face first into the boat. He felt Sapphire's presence over him, and a quick "Nope!" Ulrich raised his head, right in time to see Dominic charge straight into Sapphire, jumping on top of her and lightly kicking her shin.
Sapphire screamed, followed by Dominic screaming, followed by Dominic howling in pain, and getting thrown off her.
Dominic came back to the other two limping, holding his groin. Ulrich cringed at what he knew happened, while Lainey just stood there, massaging her forehead with her left hand.
"What was that, exactly?" Lainey asked, with a lot of anger in her voice.
"I dunno, I was trying to get that point. Wait, did I do something illegal?"
"Well, this is international waters at this point, so technically nothing is strictly illegal."
"So, I'm fine? Right?"
"No. I told you nothing is illegal as a warning." Lainey glared at Dominic, as Sapphire clapped her hands.
"Round two, you guys got a point against me, congratulations." Sapphire said, with a serious tone in her voice. "But let me tell you, your lucks about to run out!"
She left, and in what seemed like a single movement, appeared behind Dominic. She went in for a punch, and Lainey grabbed Dominic's head and pushed it below, making a run for it afterwards. Ulrich also ran, setting his index finger on his right hand alight, firing it at her hair. It was a direct hit, and she had to stop chasing Dominic to extinguish it, firing a small gust of wind at her hair. Dominic flashed a terrified thumbs-up at Ulrich, and then found himself not moving.
A giant gust of wind was in his way. He tried running in the other direction, only to have a smaller gust of wind hit him directly in the stomach. He looked up, saw Sapphire with a crazed gleam in her emerald eyes, but her expression was a calm smile. The gusts of wind seemed to go, only for Dominic to get punched right in the face with another one.
Then his left leg.
Then his right ear.
Some kind of wind currents were slowly being held in place, and quickly expanding to pummel him. He couldn't even fall over with how intense it was. After what felt like twenty seconds, it stopped. Dominic stepped forward and was launched into the air by one more giant wind current. When he fell, Sapphire delivered one final punch directly into his stomach, and Dominic landed right next to the door of the houseboat, causing the wall to get a small crack in it.
"Cool, one more point for me!" Sapphire yelled in one quick breath, her cheery demeanour slowly returning.
Dominic threw up over the side of the boat and returned to a dumbstruck Lainey and Ulrich.
"Why didn't you two do anything?"
"Against…whatever THAT was? Nah, dude. You were on your own." Ulrich chuckled, attempting to hide the fear in his voice.
"So…that's what she's truly capable of." Lainey mumbled to herself. "Guys, I think we're boned."
"Okay, you guys ready?" Sapphire asked.
The three quickly ran, and Sapphire seemed to go back to her usual level of restraint. She charged at Ulrich, who tried using the three fingers in the middle of his left hand to throw some fireballs at her. She managed to dodge all of them, almost getting caught in the third one, but firing a wind blast to dissipate it when it went behind her. Ulrich ducked to his left, and Sapphire continued chasing him. Ulrich tried once again to throw fireballs from the remaining fingers on his left hand, But Sapphire was catching up before he could even move his hand.
She lunged at him, and outstretched an arm to grab him, but found she wasn't touching a teenager with an awful haircut.
No, she was touching his shoes, while she was on the floor.
"Whoops." Lainey said flatly.
Ulrich stepped back as Sapphire raised her head, and Lainey just shot him a look of confusion. And when Sapphire fully stood up, Lainey merely tapped her on the shoulder, and slapped her across the face when she turned around with the back of her hand.
"That's two points for us, right?"
Sapphire turned around, then laughed at Lainey. "Yep. You got me, Pink. Nice going."
"Oh, it wasn't much." Lainey responded, looking at Ulrich with a smug expression smeared across her face.
"Nah, Pink. You genuinely got me. Don't downplay this moment, okay?" She said with a quick wink, that immediately seemed to absolutely shatter Lainey, who quickly ran back to the other two.
"Dude, you totally could have hit her!" Dominic yelled. "She was right there!"
"Yeah, I know." Ulrich yelled back. "It just felt like she was gonna jump out and break my arms, or something!"
"You're an idiot, man." Dominic sighed. "At least Lainey got her."
"Hm? Oh yeah, I did." Lainey shouted, snapping back to reality. "Well, Ulrich, it's up to you. Don't mess up this time."
"Yeah, I won't." Ulrich replied wearily. "Don't get hit."
Sapphire didn't even give some kind of warning; she just ran towards Ulrich. Ulrich responded by fully igniting his right hand and going in for a punch. Sapphire just dodged the attack, causing Ulrich to run forward. Sapphire leapt up into the air, and went in for a kick, which Lainey blocked with her guitar, sending out her demon.
Sapphire suddenly had an excited smile thrown on her face. She threw her fists up, trying to ram them in the demons purple mass, occasionally letting off small gusts of wind around her fists to dislodge them. The demon responded by trying to slash her, but she ducked out of the way on all of them, firing a wind blast at the demon, as well as Lainey, firing both of them into the wall of the boat, causing Sapphire to immediately stop the wind and drop the cheerfulness.
"Oh, snap. You okay?" Unlike when this happened to Dominic, she seemed to be genuinely concerned for Lainey.
"Do it again."
That was the only response Lainey gave, which Sapphire reluctantly obliged, hitting her with another blast. Lainey sprinkled a few crumbs of…something around her feet, and her demon wrapped itself around her boots. She calmly walked past Sapphire, tapping her on the shoulder.
"A little gust? That all you got?"
It wasn't.
She had legs.
She just kicked Lainey in the face. And from Ulrich's perspective, it looked painful.
"Oh, shit! Lainey, you okay?" he yelled out
Lainey wiped her finger under her nose to erase the blood, but there wasn't any.
"Uh? Yeah. Seems I'm fine."
"Relax, pink. I put an air cushion around my foot to stop the blow."
"Oh. Thanks for that."
"Eh, figured since we're working for God, harming one of his better creations wouldn't be appropriate, you know?"
"Oh! W-well that was a-a good call…then." Lainey muttered, as red as a tomato, and slinked over to Ulrich and Dominic.
"W-was that what I think it was?" Dominic asked, a few shades of red below Lainey, but still noticeable.
"I don't know, man! Maybe?" Lainey yelled.
"Wait, is she into you? Ulrich asked.
"That's what I'm wondering!" Lainey snapped at him, sweating.
"Hey, solar!"
Ulrich turned around, and Sapphire was standing a few feet away from them, cracking her knuckles.
"Can't help but notice that a chosen hero has been running away from a single woman this whole time. Doesn't give this group a good look, you feel me?"
"Y-your point being?" Ulrich replied, stepping back.
"My point being that Axe and Pink got points on me, and I got points on them. So, just a case of you against me! Let's dance, Solar!"
