"Faster Murid. Faster…" my slow pained voice was so low that it could have gone unheard in the dark night when the thunder was raging in the sky.
With the rain pouring and drowning everything with its flow. It felt like it was filled with anger and grief. The roads were almost empty as everyone took shelter in the nearby area to save himself from the fury of gods.
Only my carriage was driving as fast as it could, being followed by innumerable assassins in the dark night when all the brightening sources hid under the dark clouds.
"My lady, we will not be able to reach safely." said the coachman with a terror -filled voice as he saw many horsemen following them.
"Aahh '' a painful sigh escaped my lips when i tried to speak, more blood came flowing out like a water faucet from my mouth, my painful scream reverberated in the carriage. I was having a hard time opening my eyes,
"Did.. did all the knights die already?" I tried her best to sound normal but only silence met my voice. It was a silent affirmation of my doubts and I sighed again.
"I don't have much time, murid. My end is near.`` I replied, looking at my hands that were wet from my own blood.
"Don't say that, my lady. I will try my best to keep you safe." his words were shaking, though i knew that he was sincere with his thoughts, we both know that he was not capable enough and so was i at this moment.
I cursed once again at the thought of being a fool enough to drink that wine from the hands of my so-called future husband!
"Murid, even if i die, I do not want to die from their hands. Could you do that for me?" I asked , taking shallow breaths. The poison was already deep in my body, corroding my internal organs.
"I will do anything you say, my lady. Even my life is yours to take." he added, i could not see his face, but i was sure it was filled with tears.
"Go through the forest. I will jump from the carriage when the tree covers the roads and wait there for my death. Ride the carriage faster so that they will follow it and jump when you find another opportunity." I instructed and once again only the silence met my voice.
Several drops of rain have fallen down when he finally asked,
"Is there no other way left, my lady?" I smiled at his innocence, who still had hope in his heart.
"I apologize but I could not cover the rest of the journey with you Murid. i .. I will miss you.`` I replied and the voice of crying increased.
"Do not say that, my lady. It was my incapability that I could not protect you." he sighed, and continued to cry. I closed my eyes as I felt drained of all energy. Only the pain was keeping me conscious now.
I felt the jerks and bumps suddenly and I did not need to open my eyes to know that he had already taken the path of the woods.
"My lady, tell me where to slow the carriage." he said in a soft voice and I nodded.
I looked out of the window and when I saw a steep valley, covered mostly with bushes I smiled, this could be the perfect hidden grave.
"You can slow the carriage right here." I replied and soon the carriage slowed down.
"My lady, are.. Are you sure about this?" he asked once again.
"Do not forget to jump from the carriage after a while. Let it go towards the cliff and fall.`` I ignored his last pleading and he sighed.
"Goodbye, my lady. I hope to serve you in the next life too." he wished me when i opened the door.
I shook my head at his naivety. Why wish for another hell when you have lived it once. Wasn't it enough to serve the Villainess for once.
"Goodbye, Murid." I wished for the last time as I jumped from the carriage.
I rolled down towards the left and it took me a while after I stopped rolling and bumped into a tree.
"Aaahhh," I winced and before a scream could escape my lips I covered my mouth. I could not gain the attention of my assassins.
My hands filled with the blood that was continuously flowing from my mouth. I closed my eyes, waiting for my end when I heard footsteps.
Slowly, I tore my dress from the corner and took the piece of cloth to cover my face below my eyes.
Only my golden hair and green eyes could be seen now.
"Who is there?" I heard a young man's voice but I did not reply.
Surprisingly, the voice was not cold but scared, as if the person was hiding like me too. But I still could not take the risk, what if it was a facade, and even if it was not. I was not in a condition to save myself and forget about others.
But the footsteps continued to come closer and there stood a young man, he was wearing tattered clothes. His silver hair was shining in the dark as if the moon had blessed all its shine to him.
"You are injured!" he said as he walked closer.
"Who are you?" I asked , holding the dagger in my hands. I could still handle a man even in this state.
"Easy, my lady. I live here. You are in my home." I frowned at his words as I could not see even a hut no matter how far I looked.
As if sensing my confusion he chuckled, "not everyone is lucky enough to get a roof over his head. I am Evan, and these woods are my home." His smile had a certain effect on me. I suddenly felt calm and secure.
"Oh my, you are fully covered in blood." he walked closer and observed me, "if you don't mind, i can help you."
"Do whatever you want, but do not take my veil off."
