Murdered By The Devil!

Evans pov.

I sighed as I knew that he was not going to work and I had to do it daily, since he knew that I was not a worker but a slave. Slaves have never been treated equally and they have nowhere to complain. So, he was sure that there was no way he would get caught even if he rubbed everything on me.

The smirk on his face was telling the truth. So, it was better to finish the work as early as possible, just in case I would be the one to be punished instead of him.

I started washing the horse when I heard a deep voice.

"Never knew that the servants can also instruct each other and pass over their work so simply." said a lady in a sharp tone. She had brown hair and brown animated eyes, her face was more like an angel yet her voice was sharp like a devil. She was looking as if her one look would be enough to kill.

"Mistress. I.. I was just trying to train him." came the shaking voice of the man who was smirking just a minute ago.

Mistress! Was the devil not the mistress of the palace but this angel was! Then did I still have the chance to redeem myself!? Even the thought made my eyes gleam.

"So now you are telling me that even though I am blind and deaf I can not hear and see properly." though she was replying with a chuckle, her cold aura and sharp eyes were telling a different story.

The man fell on her feet and started crying.

"No.. no, mistress. How could that be! You are the most perfect woman in the whole world. This servant would never dare to even think something wrong about you. Forgive this dumb and ignorant persn mistress.." the man continued to cry yet the girl did not even spare him a glance. Her eyes were fixed on me and it was giving me an unsettling feeling.

"New worker?" she asked but before i could open my mouth, the servant sat on the ground as if finally given a chance to justify his actions.

"No, no, mistress. I can never treat a servant that way. I have humanity too. He is just a newly brought slave. That was why I decided to train him." came the righteous voice of the man. And I sighed, so she did not know that I was a slave! Now that she knew she would behave like him too.

"I did not know that you were assigned to train slaves. And what about that humanity? Are you trying to say that slaves are not humans?!" Once again her cold voice shook the ground and this time not even the man was surprised but me too.

"Mistress."

"Shut your mouth.. It's foul and smelly.. Leave." her one lie was enough to send him away with his tail between his legs when she looked at me.

"You are looking strong. Can't you even stand for yourself?" her words were sharp and abusive but i was angry too. My hands clenched as I looked into her eyes.

"What rights do a slave have to argue or deny?" I asked back and she chuckled.

"So you do know that! Yet you are looking straight into my eyes? Anyways, he is not going to come back. I will send another servant to help you. I am the one who looks after the work here. You can call me mistress like others. Now better start working." I bowed my head as she left with the clanking of her heels.

It had hardly been a few minutes when a young man came running there.

"Hey, are you the new sl.. Servant?" he asked as he took fast breathes and I nodded.

"I will work with you here from now on. So. do not go and complain with the mistress again." he said in a curt voice.

"There are 16 horses in the stable. Let's divide 8-8horses. So that no arguments arise." I nodded and he turned and started doing his work. From that moment I knew, even if there were chances to make friends in the past, it was all gone at this moment.

I heard the bell only when the sun was set. I saw him putting down the bucket and walking so I followed.

They all were chattering and laughing when we entered, but the moment they looked at me, their laughter died down. They looked at me as if I was an enemy. My eyes fell on the man who was sent away, he was glaring at me as he continued to eat.

I ignored them and walked towards the table where food was kept and I took mine. They all were sitting on the floor in groups but I sat alone and finished my meals. It was easy that way as I ate faster than others.

Since I was done, I decided to take a stroll around. There was a vast garden where a large amount of flowers were there. At a distance I could see an orchid too.

"Do you know where the servants quarters are?" asked a young girl who looked at me with a smile.

I shook my head and she signaled to follow her.

"The outhouse there is servants quarters. It has two parts, one for females and one for male. I am Jasmine. You can come to me if anyone disturbs you."

"As a servant, what could you do?" I asked as I did not want to include anyone in my mess, but she smiled.

"I am a higher staff member. I have the power to support you, you are working at the place of my brother, so of course i will support you." the way she said the last line, i could feel the pain she was suffering from.

"Oh, if you do not mind, can you tell me why your brother left the job?" she flinched as my question reached her ears and those warm eyes turned colder in an instant.

"Ha! Who said that he left the job?! He was blinded by loyalty and as a reward, he was coldly murdered by the devil."
