She was late on the first day of her job as a manager because of that incident. She apologized for getting late. She was handed the schedule of him for that day by one of her superiors. She went towards him to have some conversation with him, she was aware that he was Louis.
"Hey," she greeted.
"How can someone be late on their first day of job?" he said furiously and turned around to face her.
She was about to give her justification for getting late but as he turned, their eyes met. Lisa was not so surprised to see him after but Louis was kinda.
" L-I-S-A?" he whispered slowly because he couldn't believe his eyes. There was no expression on his face because he didn't know that whether he should be surprised or happy to see her.
" Yes, "she said.
Everyone was busy with their work so they didn't seem to pay any attention to them. Without asking him about his well being Lisa told him about his schedule for that day.
"Stop it," he cut her off.
"Aren't you going to ask me about anything?" he raised a question for her to answer.
"Umm. I don't think that I should be asking you about your well being here," she expressed in a low voice.
"You are not happy to see me? huh?" he asked her as he was sad by the change in her behaviour. Without wasting any second, he held her wrist and made her follow him. He held her wrist so tight that it was hurting her.
"Leave me, you are hurting my hand, " she said and he left her wrist and asked to her get inside by herself. They entered into an empty room. Lisa thought that might be she would fall for him again so, she tried to hide her emotions behind her cold behaviour. Louis was so startled by her. There was silence in the whole room so, he thought to start the conversation.
"How are you doing?" he asked her. She turned her gaze to make their eyes come in contact.
"I'm doing good," again she gave him a cold shoulder. He was happy to see her again but her cold expression was messing up everything in between them.
"Aren't you going to ask him about anything?" he asked her with a confused expression on his face. "I know that you are doing well so, I don't think I have to ask for," with that cold reply she left him there dumbfounded. He couldn't believe that because she was never like that, she always showed her affection towards him as a best friend but then everything seemed different in her. Louis's feelings for her were still the same. He was on the edge of crying but he didn't feel that was the right place to cry. He wiped his tear that was formed in his eyes and made his way towards outside.
Lisa controlled her feelings because she knew that if she let go of her emotions then everything between them would end. She got out of the restroom and tried to focus on her job than on anything else. She came in where Louis was already waiting for her, to tell him about his day. He was hurt by her behaviour because he expected otherwise of the situation than it was. He didn't want to say anything to her during his working hours. Soon the day was over and she also expectedly performed her job.
She got out of the company and went towards the parking area to get in her car and go home but Louis wanted to talk with her because these past years he had been living remorse and pain of losing her. Lisa got in her car and was about to start the engine when he opened the other side of her car and got in.
"What are you doing here? Get out," she said as she was surprised to see him there.
"Stop it right now, and tell me why are you behaving that way with me? huh?" he expressed his feelings of hurt.
"What are you talking about?" she pretended not to know anything about what she was doing.
"I've been waiting for you for so long but now when I have got you then why you are behaving that way? If it's because of the past then I'm sorry I acted out of my senses then but please talk to me. I missed you," he expressed and a tear made its way.
"WHY ARE YOU NOT ANSWERING ME?" he raised his voice a little because he was done with her cold behaviour.
"What do you want me to talk about?" she asked.
"YOU DON'T THINK YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO TALK ABOUT. I MISSED YOUR PRESENCE. DIDN'T YOU?" he asked her and cried a little because he was so hurt by her.
Lisa looked outside the window to wipe her tears. She wanted to talk about everything that she faced in past years but she didn't know what was stopping her. She also craved his presence, she missed him so much but what was not allowing her to open up with her feelings was the fear to fall for him.
"FUCKING ANSWER ME," he said with gritted teeth because he was frustrated by then and about to leave but stopped when he heard her saying.
"I missed you too even more than you but now I don't want to get hurt again so, please stop treating me like your best friend because I'm afraid to fall for you again," she whispered to him.
There was nothing in between them that could stop them from confessing to each other. Louis was happy to see his best friend but Lisa didn't see him as a best friend anymore because she loved him. She managed to keep her feelings by that time but then it became hard for her.
"I know that you loved me and I also loved-," he cut off by her.
"I don't love you anymore so, please get out of my car," she expressed as she didn't have any feelings for her best friend because she thought that he loved her best friend.
Louis became silent after her words for a moment and soon got out of her car. As soon as he got off her car, she broke down into tears and said, "I FUCKING HATE MYSELF FOR LOVING YOU MORE THAN FRIEND," she said aggressively to herself but those words were of no use then because he left before that.
On the flip side, he couldn't get himself out of those words. He took long steps to get away from her sight. He thought that she would love him but her words did the work of a knife for his heart. He wiped his tears from his face, being best friends for years made things difficult in between them. As she thought that he loved her as a best friend and he thought that she loved him more than a best friend. Both were on the opposite sides. No one dared to confess their love. Neither the circumstances nor any person was in between them but their misunderstanding made it worse.
[Not all the love stories start with confessions but some of them start with misunderstanding too. Everything in this world is expensive whether it's a thing or feelings.]
