Our little's heartbeat

"Mrs Lisa, you have an appointment for tomorrow," she got a notification from her doctor regarding a check-up.

She was in her bedroom, ready for sleep, Louis laying beside her, scrolling down his phone.

"Louis?" she named him.

"Hmm?" he whispered, eyes on the phone screen. She slapped him on his arm, to get his attention.

"What happened?" he asked, looking at her.

"I've to go for sonography so, will you come with me?" she explained.

"What do you think I will say?" he questioned her.

"Ah okay, so we'll be going in the morning after breakfast," she whispered and pecked his cheek, before closing her eyes.

"Good night!" he wished.

"Good night, baby,"

Her night was, as usual, feeling throw up, and faced a lot of trouble during nighttime. After cleaning up, she moved to the bed, for sleep.

She sighed and drift off to good sleep.

The next sunrise, she stretched her arms while getting up from bed, noticing that Louis, already got up. Rubbing her eyes, she moved to the bathroom for the morning routine.

After taking shower, she came out with a robe wrapped around her body.

Standing in front of the mirror, she did her makeup and slightly took her robe off, in front of the mirror, to see her tummy.

Caressing her stomach, she looked at, through the mirror, smiling a little.

Soon, she felt warm arms around her, drawing circles on her tummy.

"Soon your stomach will be this much," he said while imagining her baby bump.

Turning her around, he bent down to her stomach, whispering something to the baby.

And kissed her belly, "Let's go and have breakfast," he said.

"Coming in a minute," she mumbled.

"Make it quick, you have an appointment," he yelled, getting out of the bedroom.

"Alright, I know," she yelled back.

Wearing a comfortable outfit, she came out of her room, "Where is my breakfast?" she asked.

"In front of you," he said, trying to point out the food on the dining table but Lisa misunderstood it by him.

Smirking at his answer, she went near to him and wrapped her arms around his neck.

"Are you sure, my baby boy?" she mumbled in a seductive voice.

He joined his eyebrow in confusion, processing her words but then he seemed to understand her intention.

"Aww, my baby girl, I was pointing out at this breakfast, not this handsome man, who is in front of you," he said, turning to her.

Hitting her head with palm, she sat beside him. Laughing at her, he squeezed her cheeks, "Your momma is naughty, my baby," he said to her bump, which gonna take some time to show up.

"Stop it," she said.

My lovely wife, I love you," he confessed to her, he couldn't fight the laugh that was stuck and wanted to split out from his throat.

"Enough of you, now eat," she said, having her breakfast.

Doing the dishes, he sighed and complained about the maid, who promised him to come to work from that day, "Let's go, Lisa," he yelled at her, sitting on the couch.

"Alright," she got up and grabbed her purse to move outside the apartment.

Getting inside the car, he drove away to the hospital. There was not any conversation as he was busy with his manager, who was asking him to come back to the company, Louis wasn't attending his work for a week then.

Making up an excuse, he hung up the call.

"Baby, you should focus on your work, I have my mother to look after and I can go there to live for some days," she said, turning to him.

"No," he spoke straight.

"Please, don't try to be a stubborn kid, your work is also important," she expressed.

"I said no," again in the same tone.

"Please --"

"Get out carefully, we have reached," he said and got out of the car, and moved to her side, to give her a hand.

"Thank you," she said.

Sitting in the room, they paused for the sonographer to show up.

"Stop it, don't touch them, stop behaving like a child," she said and slapped his arms when he was trying to touch the stuff on the table.

But not after her denial, he placed the stethoscope on her belly and tried to notice any sound from, but now he didn't hear anything.

"You are not a doctor so, keep it back," she warned him that time with a death glare.

"As you say, my highness," he said and gently put it back to its place.

Intertwined his fingers with her, he gave her a peck on the cheek, she was done with his behaviour, then he was behaving like a kid.

Showing him, her big eyes, he sat silently on his chair and soon the sonographer appeared.

"I'm sorry to keep you waiting," he apologised for his absence.

"It's alright, you must have a hectic schedule," she said, faking her smile in his direction.

"So, let's start," he smiled, opening your journal on his laptop, he turned on the machine, that was beside him and started to scan her stomach.

Louis helped her with her outfit, lifting it for the process, and then the sonographer applied the gel over her stomach and placed the transducer on it.

Helping her, the sonographer spread the gel.

"Are you ready to see your little?" he asked, pressing the button on the machine, and the screen in front of them, showed a black image of their child.

Louis rubbed his eyes, as he didn't understand the image.

"where is baby?" he asked, with full focus on the screen. They both chuckled at him, "I can't see, please check again I guess you missed something," he whined, the sonographer laughed a little.

"Alright, let me tell you," the sonographer said.

"This is head, legs, hand, chest," he explained the image but still it seemed a big deal for him to understand.

"Look here, and focus on this shape, you will be able to identify the parts," Lisa said, pulling him forward by his shirt.

He leaned forward, and soon a smile crept on his lips, "I got it, thank you," he said and thank him for his efforts.

"Your welcome but before you leave. Do you want to listen to the heartbeat of your child?" the sonographer asked.

Nodding in agreement eagerly, they seemed excited to listen to the heartbeat of their little.

Soon the room was filled with the thudding sound of a heartbeat, making Lisa gasp in awe, looking in Louis's direction, she smiled at him, tears rolling down his cheeks out of happiness.

Holding his hand, Lisa rubbed it, assuring him to relax.

Your child is healthy so, I guess there isn't anything for you two to worry about, but make sure to take care of yourself, your diet especially what you eat may affect the child's health," the sonographer said.

Agreeing with the sonographer, they both thanked him and came out of the room.

"I am so happy after seeing our baby," she whispered and got inside the car.

"Yeah," he mumbled. Turning the car in opposite direction.

Lisa looked confused at his action, "Where are you going?" she asked.

"Your mom's house, she asked me to drop you there for some time," he explained.

"But why didn't she ask about this?" she mumbled to herself.

"Because you can't go outside without me so, she preferred me," he expressed.

"Maybe_," she said, closed her eyes.

The whole drive was silent, as she was sleeping comfortably on the passenger seat.

After arriving at the entrance, he parked the car, and gently tried to wake her up.

"Lisa, wake up. We are here," he said.

"Alright," she whispered in a sleepy state and tried to get out of the car.

"Wait, let me help you, you are asleep," he stopped her and hurriedly went to her side, opening the door, he pulled her in bridal style.

"Louis put me down. I can walk," she whispered.

"No, you are feeling sleepy so, I don't think you'll be able to walk," he confessed.

Standing at the front door, he rang the doorbell and paused for her mother.

"Hey, please come inside," her mother said after greeting them.

"Hello,"

Walking to the living room, her mother noticed Lisa so, she dared to ask him about her.

"Louis, what happened to her?" she asked in a worried tone.

"Nothing, she's just sleeping," he said and moved towards her room to put her in bed, covering her with a blanket, he pecked her forehead and closed the door after him.

"How is she?" her mother asked him, handing him the glass of water.

"Today, we went to the hospital for her ultrasound," he explained.

"Really? How's baby?" she asked out of excitement.

"The doctor said that the baby is healthy and there's nothing to worry about," he explained everything and passed a smile towards her.

" Thank God, the baby is good, " her mother whispered.

"Alright, Auntie. I have some work in the company, I will pick her on the way back, " he told her.

" No issue, you please focus on work, I am here to take care of her, " she confessed and guided him to the front door.

He went to the car and got inside, but before he started to drive, he grabbed his phone and texted her.

" I'm out with some work and I will pick you on my way back home, love you, " he typed and sent it to her, who was slumbering deep.

And then, he drove away in the direction of the company.

Her mother went to the kitchen to cook something healthy for her daughter as well as for the one who's breathing inside her.

While preparing the food, some tears left her eyes, she stopped and wiped them away. Looking at the sky from the window, she whispered, "I hope you are good and happy to know that our little daughter is happy with her life, this was the last wish of you, to see her smiling and with a happy face, and there's she now. I craved for your presence at this time, I wanted you to see our daughter, happy."

She continued with her cooking after mumbling those emotional words to her late husband, who couldn't be a part of their happiness.

Serving the dish, she moved to her room, slowly taking up steps, with her eyes red after crying.

Without knocking on the door, she opened the door and placed the food on the nightstand.

Sitting beside her, she caressed her forehead and smiled at her.
