Elys' room was eventually filled with six noble ladies of vampire high society. The air was heavy as they entered. The young queen could sense even a bit of hostility from a few of them.

"Merry meet, your majesty, Queen Elysianne," all six of the noble ladies greeted her simultaneously.

"Merry meet, ladies," Elys responded in the customary ways she noted most nobles used in the Western Kingdom. "Come sit down."

She waved for them to sit down the couches, and noted how majority of them hesitated for a fraction of a second. Elys could tell all of them were suspicious of the fact they were chosen at all to be her ladies in waiting.

"Don't just stand there," she said as she took another sip of her tea, "it would be bad for my reputation should people think I don't take care of my ladies to let them stand all day."

One by one, the noble ladies took the cue and sat down in front of Elysianne.
