The human queen woke up to a familiar scent invading her nose. She doesn't particularly use blankets, and the weather was just right last night which meant she slept without it. But then why does she feel like something was not quite the way it was?
'Wait… something feels heavy,' she thought, the grogginess from her sleep still not fully gotten rid of.
Elys opened her eyes, and they almost burst out of their sockets when she saw Aleksander's face.
The lamps flickered and shadows played along the young king's face. Elys looked out to the open balcony, and her face turned into a scowl. He seemed to have fallen asleep despite the fact that it was just over an hour till sunrise.
His hand was outstretched from the edge of the bed, and Elys' eyes traced the end and was all the more shocked by what she saw – he was holding her hand?!
So that was what felt heavy for her a while ago…
