The most unbelievable set of events were taking place in the skies of the planet, Earth.

A female body made of energy was fighting a dragon that seemed to have appeared out of thin air. The fight was mind-numbing for the creatures that live on the planet.

The female spirit was giving the dragon a good beating although she looked to be struggling a little. She was attacking ferociously as if her life depended on it.

On the other hand, the dragon did not expect someone with this amount of power to be on this planet. He was sent to scout the planet, because of its ability to move through space and time. These abilities make it hard to find, track and sense. Although it was not the strongest dragon or being from its world, it was still very powerful.

The dragon was confused about where the female spirit form came from, what it was, how she could sense it, and why she was so powerful.

The female spirit form did not let the dragon continue with its thoughts. She gathered energy in the palms of her hand, condensed it till it was the size of a fist. The ball of condensed energy floated in front of her and she pointed at the dragon. A bright green laser beam traveled toward the dragon at unimaginable speed and pierced through the dragon's chest.

*Roarrrrr!!!*

The dragon cried in agony.

There was a fist-sized hole in the middle of the dragon's chest. Compared to the size of the dragon, the size of the hole was like a tiny dot but the damage done by the green beam was immense. Not only did the beam pierce through part of the dragon's heart, but it also seems to have a corrosive effect that is still attacking and destroying the dragon's body internally.

The dragon knew it would not be able to survive after taking the attack of the beam so it started to think about other ways to survive.

The female spirit form did not want to waste any more energy on this fight. She closed her eyes and brought her hands together as if she was praying. The space around the dragon compressed. The compression continued till the body of the dragon was the size of a tennis ball.

The female spirit form looked at the ball with a solemn expression. Although she won the battle she knew a war was coming.

She looked down at the beings that live on the planet with disdain. They were weak! Very weak!!

She decided it was time to toughen them up.

"Citizens of Earth, The world you are used to is about to change. There are other worlds out there in the universe and some of the species in those worlds are powerful and enjoy conquering other worlds. The beast you just saw me kill belongs to those worlds. More beings like the dragon will soon arrive and try to conquer the earth." She said with an indifferent expression. " However, I will give you a chance to fight for your future."

*Booooooom!!!!!*

A shockwave spread across every inch of the planet. It felt like all the nuclear weapons on the planet were launched at the same time.

This unexpected event shocked the people. Some were barely hanging on to their last thread of consciousness. Others passed out immediately. Some even died. Those that died were old because their bodies could not adapt to the new energy in the atmosphere.

"I have unlocked the mana stored on this planet. Use it to train and advance yourselves. Since humans are the main species on this planet and since most humans have played games before, you can all level up like in the games. Say status when you are ready. Good luck." She said before she vanished as if she was never there.

-Two Thousand Years Later-

Human society has adapted to their new reality. Humans gained abilities to survive the changes that took place on the planet. Monsters appeared all over the planet, causing humans to occupy less than 70 percent of the space they previously occupied.

The places humans occupy are called Cities. Each city is ruled by either the Four Supreme Families, Four Big Clans, or Guilds. These organizations watch over the human race and help them get stronger.

However, the abundance of mana did not only have negative outcomes. Due to the abundance of mana, humans have gained longer lifespans. The higher the rank of a person, the longer they can live. There was no more pollution because most equipment and contractions run on electricity via lightning mana. Also, technology has advanced.

Although humans are getting ready for the upcoming war against beings from other worlds, society has gone back to the way it was before mana. Well... for the most part.

"Leywin, my dear, are you ready for your class trip to the rank F danger zone?" a middle-aged woman asked as she was making breakfast.

"Yes, mother. I have my weapon and equipment." Leywin replied.

"I know this is your first time going outside the walls, but I believe in the hard work and effort you put into training. Don't try to be a hero, stick to what you know and have practiced." the mother lectured her son.

"Yes, mother. If I do a good job leading my class, I might finally get the chance to get an ability." Leywin smiled at his mother as she placed his breakfast in front of him.

Leywin's mother's face darkened when Leywin brought up his lack of ability. She felt like it was her fault although it was something out of her control.

When mana was first introduced to the world, everyone on the planet gained some type of ability that stemmed from a form of nature. The abilities included fire, water, wood, earth, etc. However, the later generations did not get that privilege, they had to learn abilities from Ability Crystals.

Ability Crystals are crystals that contain an ability that could be learned by anyone. These crystals are made by high rankers that could tap into the true essence of their ability. The true essence is put into crystals to be sold to others.

Needless to say, Ability Crystals are expensive. Most families start saving up for these crystals before the baby is born. When the baby turns five years old, they can start to learn the ability.

Unfortunately, Leywin was born in a poor household. His father died when he was two years old, since then he has been raised by his single mother. His mother tries her best to provide for them, but the best she could do while working two full-time jobs as waiter was to provide for the bare minimum needs.

Leywin never blamed his mother or anyone for this. He simply worked hard and tried to get as strong as he could without any ability.

Having an ability was not the end all be all for Leywin. Even though he did not have an ability, he was strong enough to defeat most of his classmates who have abilities. When it came to non-ability combat, Leywin was unbeatable in his class. This is why he was made the leader of the class by the professor/combat trainer.

Also, abilities could be gained at any time and there are other ways to get abilities. One way an ability could be gained was by being outstanding in your class and getting rewarded by the school. Usually, every graduating class has the top ten students receive ability crystals of their choice. The students can choose from the four basic ability crystals: fire, water, earth, or wind.

Rare ability crystals such as lightning and ice are restricted by the Four Big Clans.

Leywin is striving to be one of the top ten students of his graduating class. He is already in the running for the top student of his graduating class but he has one more school year before getting an ability crystal.

Leywin is currently a third-year high school student. After his fourth year, he could try to get a job as a ranker.

After breakfast, Leywin grabbed all his stuff and was about to leave.

"Good luck my little man, remember that your safety comes first. I can't lose you too." his mom said as she caressed his hair and kissed his forehead. "When you get back, we will celebrate your first successful trip outside," she promised with a smile.

Leywin smiled and said, "I will do my best."

Leywin walked out of the apartment. When he closed the door, his smile was replaced by a determined look. He knows more than anyone how much his mom works and sacrifices for him, that's why he works as hard as he does. He will definitely make her life easier and better.
