Jay and I just landed in London. We are here for our best friend Taylor's wedding. I am so excited as is Jay. We have been on cloud 9 all week. It's not even our wedding. We are just two hopeless romantics. Taylor and Jay went to college together at UC Berkeley then when Jay and I became friends I was introduced to Taylor who instantly connected with me and has been family ever since.
"Can't believe Taylor is going to be a whole ass wifey in less than 72 hours" Jay gushes as we leave baggage claim.
"Right? What the fuck" I sequel in excitement.
Luckily, no one knew we were in London. With our hoods up and glasses on it was practically impossible to recognize us hence why I was in such a good mood, thanking my lucky stars for the privacy from the paparazzi. Leaving an airport completely unrecognized is a very rare occasion for me.
....
We reach Taylor and Cory's house, Taylor was outside waiting for us with open arms and a huge smile on her face. I practically run out of the car and leap into her arms, I haven't seen her in almost a year, "Hi hi hi" Taylor yelps in delight.
"I can't believe my best friend is getting married," I say pulling her close then moving away and smiling at her.
"I'm so happy you guys are here" Taylor smiles as she moves to hug Jay. Cory comes out of the house grinning brightly at me.
"Maria Reed!" He exclaims.
"Cory Anderson!" I mimic him pulling him into a hug.
"Come on let's get you guys inside," Taylor says as we take the luggage out of the car and head inside.
"I love London weather so much," Jay says as we settle down in the living room.
Taylor and Cory roll their eyes in unison, "Yes rain every day is so fun" sarcasm laced in Taylor's voice.
"I love rain, it's better than burning in a heatstroke that LA experiences every other day," I reply brusquely, Jay nods agreeing with me.
"Then you guys need to move to London, what are you waiting for huh?" Cory wiggles his eyebrows at us.
"That could be an amazing wedding present just saying" Taylor tilts her head, "two of my favorite people moving to London" a smile prevalent on her lips.
Jay and I look over at each other and Taylor laughs, "I love that you are considering this"
"I mean personally I am sick of LA," Jay says.
"Same here" I add nodding at him.
"But I don't know if I can handle moving to Britain with all the British folks" Jay puts up an accent making us chuckle.
"I mean I just miss seeing you all the time" I rest my hand on Taylor's knee, "If it weren't for someone you would still be in LA right now" I narrow my eyes at Cory who throws his hands up in defeat.
"It's not too late to ditch the wedding and come back to us?" Jay suggests, throwing a couple of finger guns Taylor's way.
"Hey, hey, hey, leave her alone" Cory playfully scolds, his thick British accent seeping through.
"I would never let a man control me like that but you do you bestie" I shrug taking a sip of water and Taylor rolls her eyes slapping me on the arm.
"Are you guys tired? Because we need to go for the dress and tux fitting unless you want to rest first" Taylor says standing up.
"No honestly I'm good," I say looking over at Jay.
"Me too," Jay responds.
"Cool so freshen up and we'll head down to the boutique in 30 minutes" Taylor grins shaking her head.
....
"Tay I'm in love with this dress," I say admiring myself in the mirror. Taylor had picked out a dark maroon dress for her bridesmaids. To say it was beautiful would be an understatement not to mention how flattering it is.
"You look gorgeous ah I knew it would suit you" Taylor claps her hands avidly.
"I was worried you were going to get us ugly dresses" I humor her.
"Shut up" Taylor rolls her eyes.
Jay walks out of the dressing room flaunting his maroon tux, he looked as dashing as ever, "What do you think?" He throws his hands in the air.
"You look stunning" I smile at him.
"As do you, as do you" Jay winks at me gesturing to my dress with his hands.
Taylor moves to Jay and fixes his bow, "You look great Jay, I was worried it would be a little loose on you but no it's perfect, showing off your muscles" Taylor smiles.
"Can I change back now?" I ask Taylor.
"yeah yeah sure," She says and I walk back into the dressing room.
I see that my phone was buzzing, I pick it up to see I got a text from my boyfriend.
"Hey gorgeous, how's London?"
"Amazing and wonderful as always, rain is my favorite thing in the world. I'm loving it" I text back.
Within seconds I get a reply;
"Can't wait to see all the wedding photos of my hot girlfriend ;)"
I smile; "Bold of you to assume I'll be sending you any" I quickly type in.
I put my phone down moving to unzip my maid of honor dress and slowly slip out of it. I hang it nicely by the door, changing into my blue jeans and the yellow top I was wearing earlier. I see that I've gotten another text from Karter;
"no fair :("
I roll my eyes, chuckling to myself, "must suck to be you"
I quickly type in and head out of the dressing room. Taylor was sitting on the couch texting someone as we were waiting for Jay to get out. I take a seat next to Taylor and rest my head on her shoulder.
"How are you feeling Tay Tay?" I ask.
"I'm good, a little anxious that something is going to go wrong but as far as the marriage part is concerned I've never been more sure of anything in my life" I can hear her smiling.
Taylor and Cory are so perfect for each other in all aspects, he's such a wonderful guy and Taylor deserves a man like him. I get emotional thinking about how she's finally getting her happy ending because Taylor is a huge hopeless romantic just like me.
I feel my phone light up and it's a text from Karter, "Someone misses you" Taylor jokes.
I shrug and quickly text him back.
"I really wish he could be here, I've been dying to meet this man who has you so wiped" Taylor lingers on.
"Okay first off I am not wiped," I say and Taylor chuckles, "And secondly same but it's his son's birthday this weekend plus work and we haven't even been together for that long to expect him to put me as a priority" I shrug.
"Yeah, I get it" Taylor smiles at me reassuringly, "Do you love him?"
"No it's too soon for that Tay, it's only been a few months," I say shaking my head.
Taylor squeezes my hand, "I know sweetie but you have that gut feeling in a few weeks really" She smiles at me warmly.
I care about Karter deeply but love? I feel like I would know if I loved him right? How do you know when you're in love, I don't think I've ever really been in love. My previous relationships were more drama than passion, to be honest, so I can't even fully describe what being in love feels like so how will I even know Karter is someone I love love? Maybe I won't? Or will I?
"Don't worry, you'll know when you know and if it's not Karter it's okay we move to the next" Taylor bumps her shoulder with me making me smile.
